Chapter 29

Stella was talking about her father threatening Brian.

Sharon said, “As long as you do as I say, the Foleys won’t pursue the matter any longer. Instead, we’ll maintain friendly relations with the Yates.”

Stella was overjoyed.

Her father would be free and the Foleys wouldn’t continue attacking the Yates as long as she divorced Brian

Stella finally gave a genuine smile. She even felt as though the air she was breathing had gotten sweeter somehow.

“Sharon, I’m willing to go through with the divorce. If you can get my father, I’ll immediately sign the papers. I also wouldn’t bother Brian in the future.”

She was being sincere. To her, her father’s freedom was akin to someone slicing the noose wrapping around her neck. From then on, she would be a free woman.

Sharon was pleased to see Stella’s compliance. So, she smiled gently and said, “Then, it’s a deal.”

“I have a problem, though.” Stella suddenly recalled an obstacle in their path..

Sharon frowned as she assumed Stella was trying to back out of this.

Fortunately, Stella grumbled, “Sharon, Brian utterly despises the Yates because of that incident. Actually, I’ve brought up divorce prior to this.”

“Regrettably, Brian said he was going to leash me to his side until the day I die as vengeance. He wants me to pay the debt I owe with my freedom.”

Sharon was stunned. She didn’t expect her son to go to such extremes.

He would discard his own flesh and blood just to slake his vengeance against the Yates.

Sharon thought things over before saying, “Stella, I just want you to answer me this. Will you divorce Brian?”

“I will.” Stella was speaking through her heart. She wouldn’t waste her time on a man who didn’t love her.

Although it would be difficult to get over this hurdle, she would work hard to get past this. It didn’t matter if it would be agonizing or painful.

She would do her level best to close the gates to her heart until she could look at Brian and feel nothing.

Sharon nodded her head, pleased with her promise. “I think of something to make the divorce happen.”

“What’s the plan?” Although Stella was delighted, she was still wary.

She had to know what Sharon was cooking up her sleeves. She would never do anything that would

violate the law.

Thankfully, Sharon proposed, “Stella, as long as you become an item with someone else, Brian will definitely toss you aside. He hates sharing anything he deems his. He’ll never be interested in second- used goods.”

Stella blinked dumbly upon that revelation.

Was Sharon suggesting that she cheat on her son

Sharon continued blithely, “Stella, I’m not going to force you to some random man. Don’t you worry, child. I’ll pick someone outstanding for you. Just meet him once.”

“You

“You can try taking things to the next level with him if he’s a good man. I’m not going to force you to date the first man you see.”

Stella had to admit. Sharon was a master manipulator

She couldn’t deny that she was utterly tempted by this proposal.

As long as her marriage with Brian was beyond repair, her father would be a free man. She would also finally be free of these chains.

Even an idiot would know which option to pick and she was no moron.

So, she nodded solemnly. “Sharon, I’ll do as you say.”

She was willing to do anything for her father.
