Chapter 192
Chapter 192
At lan’s command, Snow ceased his barking but continued to block the path between Anders and Clara.
lan strolled over, crouching to give Snow a scratch behind the ears, his expression apologetic. “Sorry about that Snow’s not too keen on any other guys cozying up to its mommy besides me.”
Clara, of course, saw right through him. Her eyes flashed with imitation as she confronted him. “lan, what’s your game?”
He raised a brow, those charming, mischief–filled eyes of his holding intense feelings. “Can’t you tell? I’m helping Snow win over her mommy.”
With a huff, Clara bit back, “Well, let me just spell it out for you – you’re barking up the wrong tree because you’re not getting that chance from me.”
She moved to Anders‘ side, her concem evident. “You okay, Anders?”
“I’m fine. Why don’t you head up and get some rest? You look beat. Take a long shower, and sleep it off. I’ll swing by tomorrow to pick you up.”

lan wasn’t fazed. Instead, he watched her ascent with an amused smirk. “She’s mine. Always has been, always will be. Save yourself the trouble, buddy.”
Anders stood his ground. “If you’re trying to rattle me as her ex, you might have some pull. Too bad you never made it to that status. What have I got to fear?”
lan gave him a sidelong glance, the comer of his mouth curling into a smirk. “You’ll have your day of fear” lan sauntered off with Snow
in tow
A week later, Anders grasped the true meaning behind lan’s words. lan had said Anders would have his day of fear. And indeed, the week had been a whirlwind. Case after case landed on his desk. The firm’s business had spiked. Anders and Clara were run ragged, with no chance for dates or downtime.
lan had pulled strings, directed clients to Anders in a faux show of support that was anything but. Only Anders knew the real deal behind lan’s seemingly generous acts.
Finally, the weekend arrived, and Clara dragged Anders to Christy and Rogers‘ wedding anniversary bash.
Roger couldn’t suppress his grin upon their entrance. He leaned over to whisper to lan, “Looks like Clara’s making a statement by bringing him. We’ve got front row seats to the drama tonight”
Chase chimed in, not without malice, “Maybe Clara’s always wanted some certain jerk to stand by her side, officially. Shame she waited three years just to be dubbed the sugar baby. If I were her, I’d have ditched him for someone new by now. Anders is a catch- good–looking, talented, and with decent family background. And he’s head over heels for Clara. How could she not want him?”
lan managed to keep his composure despite their taunting. He watched as Clara walked over to Christy’s side, smiling as she introduced Anders. “Christy, meet Anders.”
Christy said with a smile. “I’ve heard so much about the charming Mr. Anders. Seeing you now, I can say the rumors don’t do you justice.. Quite the match for our Clara.”
After exchanging pleasantries and handing over a congratulatory gift, Clara was already beckoning to Christy’s daughter. “Della, come to godmother
Della’s giggles filled the air as she reached out to Clara, and Clara’s cheeks smeared with bubblegum kisses.
In the midst of this tender moment, lan slipped up behind Clara, his voice clear for all to hear, “Sweetheart, do you want a little brother? Maybe godfather and godmother should get on that.”
