Chapter 191
Chapter 191
His call halted Anders‘ bite into the muffin mid–air. Before they could react, lan had already joined them.
He pulled Clara into his embrace. His voice was tinged with hurt and complaint, “Clara, you can’t feed him. You’re only supposed to feed me.” He leaned down and snatched the muffin from Clara’s hand. He even deliberately licked her greasy fingers with his tongue.
Then, with a smirk, lan looked at Clara and said, “This muffin is not good at all. I got you a cupcake, your absolute favorite.”
Clara’s eyes flashed with fury, all her good mood shattered by lan’s intrusion. She quickly pulled out a wet wipe from her bag and meticulously cleaned the spot lan’s tongue had grazed. Then she said without mercy, “lan, to be honest, I never liked cherry, let alone cherry cupcake. I only ever pretended for your sake. Please stop making a fool of yourself”
After that, she pulled Anders into the car. No matter how much lan called after her, she didn’t look back.
Watching their car drive away, lan stood there, dumbfounded, the cupcake lying on the ground.
He had never felt such desolation before. The taste of rejection pierced his very soul. He wondered if Clara felt this way every time he chose Heidi over her. The thought made his throat sting with pain.
Without delay, he returned to his car and ordered Dawson, “Let’s move”
Clara had a blast the entire day. She and Anders not only hit the amusement park but also saw the suspense movie she’d been dying to watch. They strolled down the promenade and listened to street musicians perform.
These were all the things she used to dream of doing with lan. However, in the three years they were together, this dream of hers was never realized. Now, it was realized by Anders
She stepped out of the car, her face still flushing with excitement. She looked up at Anders and said, “I had so much fun today, thank you.” Under the dim streetlight, her eyes sparkled like a sky full of stars
Anders couldn’t help but swallow hard, his gaze full of adoration, “Silly girl, making you happy is my greatest wish in life.”
Their shadows stretched long in the streetlight. The dim light made lan standing in the distance lose his focus. From his perspective, Anders seemed to be leaning in for a kiss.
lan felt a surge of blood boiling within him. He patted Snow’s head, “Snow, someone’s trying to steal Mommy from Daddy. If Mommy gets taken away, she wont want you anymore, and you’ll be an orphan, got it?”
Snow seemed to understand, barking twice in response before dashing forward.
Anders was careful not to overstep with Clara, not wanting to frighten her or undo the progress he’d made. He was playing the long game, hoping to gradually win her affection. As he looked down at Clara, he noticed a smear on her lip. He smiled, and as he was about to wipe it away, a white blur appeared. Then suddenly, something slammed hard into him.
Anders was taken aback by the unexpected collision. His first instinct was to shield Clara. As he regained his senses, he saw a white Samoyed fiercely guarding her, eyes blazing and barking loudly at him.
Clara immediately scolded, “Snow, mind your manners!”
But the reprimand only made Snow bark more vigorously and lunge toward Anders.
The dog was clearly not friendly.
Just as Snow was about to pounce on Anders, a cold voice from behind commanded attention.
