No Remarriage for Us: Stay Away Chapter 418 The Incident Involving Zachary
After returning home, Lenora penned her resignation letter and sent it to Lilliane's email. Lilliane quickly approved it, expressing in her response that she considered Lenora to be an exceptional photographer, a rare find. She felt helpless about the unfortunate incident that had occurred and regretted not being able to assist Lenora. Feeling guilty, she recommended one of her friends to Lenora.
Lilliane was the editor-in-chief of a magazine and frequently collaborated with various photographers.
Lenora sent a thank-you email to Lilliane and added the editor-in-chief's WhatsApp.
Presumably, Lilliane had already mentioned Lenora to the editor-in-chief. The editor had a positive attitude toward Lenora, indicating that he would reach out given the appropriate opportunity.
After her resigned, Lenora first familiarized herself with the Wilson family.
The Wilson family had been affluent since the nineteenth century, a true embodiment of wealth in Fairlake. However, during a period of scientific and technological advancement and innovation, the traditionalist Wilson family had experienced a phase of decline. This lasted until a family head returned from studying abroad and vigorously implemented reforms. He followed the societal trends, progressed with the times, and eventually, the Wilson family regained its glory.
In those days, the head of the Wilson family was Isla's father, which gave Isla the privilege to walk with her head held high.
This time, Isla had taken a hit due to Lenora, but it was uncertain if she wouldn't try again in the future.
So, when Lenora was looking for a new job, she aimed for a large corporation-somewhere that would support her if Isla tried to stir up trouble.
Alternatively, she decided to stop taking positions at studios or smaller companies altogether.
Lenora was still at a loss, now juggling two additional private tasks on her plate. One was from a Clusian international student, the other from a friend of Bella.
While working on private orders, Lenora also explored various job search websites for opportunities, and managed to secure a chance to produce a trial clip for a commercial order.
Despite her relatively short career, Lenora had mainly dealt with private shoots, whether they were personal projects or assignments from the studio. Now that she had the chance to work on commercial projects, she was determined to seize the opportunity.
The commercial shoot was for a new product launched by a certain cosmetic company. It was vastly different from portrait photography. However, Lenora had previously guided numerous commercial shoots during her time at Fuller Group. Although she had never personally handled one, she still had a fair amount of experience.
On the day of the screen test, Lenora arrived at the provided address. She informed the receptionist that she was there for the test. The receptionist then led Lenora to a lounge next to the photography studio upstairs and served her a cup of tea. She said, "The studio is currently in use. Please wait here, someone will come to call you for your screen test later."
"All right."
After the receptionist had left, Lenora began to survey the lounge. The decor was exquisite. On the eastern wall, there was a poster of a female celebrity, holding a product from the company, her face adorned with a smile. She was likely the company's spokesperson. The western wall, on the other hand, featured an introduction to several of the company's main products.
This cosmetic company was a well-known local business in Fairlake, and its products were frequently seen in everyday supermarkets.
Several rows of magazines were neatly arranged on the side table next to the sofa. Lenora casually picked one up and saw that it was a company brochure. The first few pages contained information about the company's founding date, its history, and the founder. After flipping through a few pages, Lenora placed the book back. She then pulled out her mobile phone from her pocket.
She glanced at her phone and saw fresh notifications from various apps.
The headline read: Zachary, Chairman of Fuller Group, was recently arrested on suspicion of economic crimes.
Upon seeing the headline, Lenora was taken aback for a few seconds.
What was going on?
It must be fake, right?
She instinctively clicked on a notification. The news update contained only a basic description of the time, characters, and events, with no other details mentioned.
However, this piece of news still caused quite a stir on social media.
Lenora simply couldn't believe it.
It wasn't that she still had feelings for Zachary, rather, she was taken aback by the fact that Zachary was imprisoned for financial crimes.
Why did something like this happen?
Why would he do something like that?
Is this for real?
"Hello, you're the photographer, Ms. Fay, who's here for the film test, right? Please follow me."
A sudden voice jolted Lenora from her thoughts.
Lenora's mind was in turmoil, but at that moment, she had to cast aside her scattered thoughts and focus on the try out.
The test shoot required a set of sixteen photographs.
Lenora first took a look at the product description and philosophy, formulating a suitable shooting plan based on the main selling points of the product. Then, she asked her assistant to prepare props to complement the photography. The shoot took a little over four hours.
Once done, Lenora transferred the photos from her camera to the computer. After doing some basic editing, she explained her shooting techniques and intentions to the person in charge of product advertising.
After nearly an hour had passed, the screening finally came to an end.
Lenora stepped out of the company, taking a deep breath before pulling out her phone and dialing the number for the Fuller residence.
Zachary was the chairman of Fuller Group at the time. If anything were to go wrong, it would impact the Fuller family.
Should there be any carelessness, the entire Fuller family could potentially collapse.
That day, Zachary had made himself clear. He would no longer consider Lenora as part of the Fuller family. He wouldn't back her up anymore, even if the Fuller family was to fall into ruin, it would have nothing to do with Lenora. However, that was the Fuller residence where Lenora had spent ten years of his life. It was the fruit of his grandfather's labor and to see it gone just like that was a pity.
She was also concerned that Allison and Harrietta might be affected.
The call was answered by Miranda.
Miranda informed Lenora that Allison had gone on a trip with Harrietta and it was uncertain when they would return.
After ending the call, Lenora let out a small sigh of relief.
It seemed that Zachary had anticipated this disaster in advance, which is why he had sent his family away early.
Yet, he had somehow sensed the danger earlier. Why didn't he deal with it or avoid it beforehand?
In any case, this was not something Lenora should have been concerning herself with.
It was a relief that Allison and Harrietta were all right.
As for Zachary, his fate was in his own hands. Such accusations were so grave that even if Lenora wanted to help, there wasn't much she could do.
During their evening chat, Sophia subtly probed Lenora with a couple of inquiries.
Lenora chuckled. "I did see the news, but don't worry, honey, his affairs have nothing to do with me. I won't do anything foolish."
"That would be best."
Two days later, Lenora received news from the cosmetic company. Her audition tape had passed.
Following that, she was to proceed with the other two photographers in managing the advertisement shoot for the new product. This included photos, endorsements, short video clips and so on, all the way up until the product's launch. If the results were satisfactory, the cosmetic company would continue to collaborate with them on other products.
Lenora was extremely happy.
After all, this was the first business deal she had formally been involved with.
The standards for the business orders were always quite high. The sample being approved was an acknowledgment of Lenora's capabilities.
She planned to gradually transition into a commercial photographer in the future, taking on some private gigs in her spare time.
Upon learning of this, Bella was overjoyed for Lenora. She invited Lenora to go out and celebrate.
A few days ago, Bella found out that Lenora had left her job at Saleel Photography. When she asked her why, Lenora briefly explained.
Bella felt a strong sense of injustice on behalf of Lenora. She asked Lenora for the name of the woman who had slandered her, intending to seek revenge for her. However, Lenora remained silent.
Bella had initially wanted to persuade Jermaine to seek justice from Wesley on behalf of Lenora, but Lenora herself dissuaded her from doing so.
She knew Wesley was a friend of Ezekiel. If she truly cared about these matters, she would have taken the initiative to contact Ezekiel. But she didn't, there was no need.
The Wilson family wasn't one to be trifled with, and she had no desire to cause any trouble for Bella.
The agreed meeting place was at a club.
It was the first time Lenora had gone there.
In the room, aside from Bella, there were also her two friends whom Lenora had met before.
The four of them were engaged in singing songs, playing cards, and even enjoyed a bit of alcohol.
Halfway through, Bella stepped out to take a call. When she returned, she vented her frustration. "It's like a bad penny, that idiot seems to turn up everywhere I go."
Daisy, a friend of Bella's, asked with a chuckle, "Isla? You've already called her an idiot, why bother arguing with her?"
