Chapter Is This Going to be my Life?
After we stepped outside of the room the Pathfinder let out a rather loud sigh. “I imagine the declassification of that file is going to overwork me over the next few weeks.” He turned to look at me. “So Red, how was it in the lounge?”
For some reason, I felt rather energetic as I replied. “It was kind of fun, several people talked to me and John is pretty funny.”
He seemed rather happy to hear me say that. “Well, that’s good to hear. I only have a few hours before lights out so I’m going to take you to your team. You will all be sharing a room with them, they’re currently in there probably laying around not doing much. All teams share a room but each team has a bathroom for everyone; privacy won’t be an issue... I’m sure you feel pressured but this is the safest option for you, we pride ourselves on choice but we’re also prolife. Despite how different you are from everyone else we do not want you die.” That was really worrying
We walked for a while in silence, I didn’t like what he just said. Did it mean that some people wanted me dead? I suppose if I don’t do anything bad I’ll find out at some point. The longer we stayed quiet the more worried I felt but he did eventually stop.
He turned towards a door and looked over at me. “This is your new room, I hope you remember your partners from before.” He opened the door and pushed me in rather quickly. I looked around for a moment before seeing the two, it was the guy and girl from the... simulation?
The girl looked over, she was playing on a small little thing that was glowing in her face. “Oh, hey Red, took you long enough.” I looked behind me to see the door was shut, and the Pathfinder was gone. I stood there for a little bit, I didn’t know what to do. “Hey Red, your beds over there if you want you can sit on it.” She pointed to the right corner of the room, hers was on the left corner and the guy... wasn’t here, but his bed was in the right corner. I walked over the bed and sat on it, it was very soft.
There was silence for a moment; I don’t know how long, but it felt like a while. I felt like something needed to be said. “What’s your name?” I asked her, not really knowing what else to do.
She sat that thing down and smiled at me. “My names Kayla. You’re names Red right, I heard the Pathfinder mention it before?” I nodded. “Owen is somewhere right now, I’m not sure where he wondered off to but he’ll be back soon... At least he better be.”
Is own the guy that was with us the first time? “Who’s Owen?”
She laughed. “Owens the guy you met before, we dealt with the training bots. You Remember, right?”
I remembered. “Yes, I remember.” Then there was a knock at the door before the guy walked in.
He seems a rather apologetic. “I’m sorry I got lost!” So, he’s in the same boat as me not knowing how to get around. Kayla was laughing and he turned to look at me. “Oh! hey Red, welcome to the team!”
