Chapter 32

Roy was furious with his wolf. Why was it so stupid and insensitive not to realize that Kimberly doesn’t want to have anything intimate to do with him.

“She would've loved our kiss.’ Roy's wolf said, making him groan in frustration.

“You don't get it, do you? She would end up hating us for the rest of her life.” Roy replied, hoping his wolf would shut up.

“We could see it in her eyes, she wanted the kiss as much as we did."

Roy could read Kimberly's expression at that moment. He could tell she was expectant about something but, he wasn't certain that it was a kiss.

“You only think that way cos she’s your mate.” Roy said with an eye roll before walking into his study.

He didn't want to imagine how embarrassing it would've been if he had kissed Kimberly and she rejected him, that would've been one of the most awkward and embarrassing moment in his life. Staring at his bandaged hand, he thought about how excited his wolf was when it felt her touch, making him face palm. His wolf was the reason he could barely control himself whenever he was around her.

Stupid wolf, Roy internally sighed, causing his wolf to growl before going silent.

That was what Roy needed at the moment, to be left alone and in peace. He stared at his injured hand again, this time wondering why he wasn't feeling even the slightest bit of pain when he's supposed to, because he decided not to use his healing abilities as a werewolf. He unwrapped the bandage to get answers, he was shocked at what he saw. He couldn't believe it, his wound was completely healed.

“That's impossible!” he gasped, staring confusedly at his hand and at the door.

“Who is she?”

Mr. Wright was starting to get worried about his daughter's whereabouts. He was fully aware of the fact that she was an adult and could take care of herself without his help, but this time was different. Something wasn't right and he could feel it, though he wasn't sure what it was, he knew something was out of place. This is unlike Kimberly, not to call even once when she isn't close to home.

She had promised to give him a call everyday, like he made her promise. He knew that wouldn't be possible because of her possessive fiancé beside her, whom he could tolerate for being that way, as he’s barely home due to his service to the nation. She could've at least called to let him know that they had arrived safely.

Mr. Wright couldn't help but feel uneasy about the negative feeling he was having in the pit of his stomach. It has been more than a week she went on that vacation with lan, if he doesn't get a call from his daughter within the next twenty four hours, he'd have no choice but to call the cops. Tracing his fingers over Kimberly's photo in his hand, he hoped his daughter was alright, wherever she is.

Roy couldn't wrap his head around what happened the other day. He was an hundred percent sure he didn't let himself heal, so how did that even happen?

He knew he was acting like a complete jerk by avoiding Kimberly for two days, with the pretence of being busy, putting himself and his wolf through hell from being away from his mate, but he couldn't bring himself to trust her anymore. She was hiding something from him and he couldn't tell what it was. She certainly wasn't a rogue and neither was she a vampire, what was she then? “Alpha.” Roy heard his beta’s voice through mind link, making him jump from the sudden interruption.

"What is it, Elijah?” he drily asked, wondering what his beta wanted

“We were on patrol down the eastern border this morning. Everything looked normal but then, I picked up a werewolf scent that wasn't from our pack and also a trail. After inspecting the track left behind, I discovered that they were fresh meaning, the werewolf was here minutes ago. David, our delta picked up another scent, by the time we were done with the patrol, we detected a total of three were here not too long ago.”

"Are you sure?” Roy asked in surprise, shocked by the information.

Werewolves weren't supposed to be lurking around another pack like some rogues. If they needed help or a new home, they should be brave enough to come into their pack and ask for help.

Roy sensed that something wasn't right. If this has anything to do with the white moon pack, he swore to rip them apart without sparing any of them, because they were all fully aware of the truce between both packs, so they should know better than to cross their border.

“Yes Alpha. We thought it strange too, that was why I decided to mind link you, to immediately let you know what's going on.”

“Did you get to see any one of them to know what pack they were from?”

“No Alpha, I didn't.”

Roy sighed, massaging his temple as he was already having a headache from thinking too much. He hated being taken off guard and not being in full control of his pack at any point in time.

"Double the patrol on every side of the border. I don't want to take any chances. I'll join you soon.” “Okay, Alpha.” Elijah replied before disconnecting the mind link.

This isn't good news, Roy thought to himself, as he tried to shake off the unsettling feeling he was having.

Kimberly just couldn't believe Roy, he was a really difficult person to understand. He had agreed to start afresh and become friends with her two days back, getting her hopes up and making her quite excited but, what does he do now? It turned out that his own definition of friendship was different, because he has been avoiding her ever since, which was driving her crazy.

She was tired of crying over his attitude. His avoiding her, was making her feel like she had done something wrong. She needed to know what wrong she did, as she wasn't buying his excuse of being busy. So, she decided to wait up for him.

After hours of waiting, Roy eventually came home. He was shocked at first to see Kimberly wide awake in the living room when he walked in there. He quickly masked his expression.

“Why are you up so late?” he asked her.

“I was waiting for you.” She simply replied, as she up from the couch.

“Roy, we need to talk.” She continued, walking towards him. It was as if his feet was suddenly glued to the spot where he stood, as he couldnt move.

"Why have you been avoiding me? What have I done wrong this time?”

Roy could see the hurt in her eyes as she asked those questions. How he she come to realize that he had been avoiding her?

“I told you, I was busy. I'm currently dealing with some issues.” He replied, not quite far from the truth, just skipping the part where he now had doubts about who she really is.

"Don't give me that crap, Roy!” she yelled, taking Roy by surprise. Where did she get such courage. “I understand perfectly well what you've been doing and, that's avoiding me... What did you think? That I'm a kid who has no idea what's going on?” she said. Her voice was shaky, already betraying her.

“I have no idea what you're talking about. Besides, you have Christine to keep you company.” He muttered, suddenly getting angry that she was trying to play the victim, when she was obviously hiding something from him.

“I don't need Christine, Roy. I need you. You promised to help me, yet you leave me alone, hurting me each time you walk through that door... If you don't want me around, then help me get the hell out of here!” she yelled as tears spilled down her face.

Kimberly couldn't believe what she just said. She never wanted it to come out that way, she guess she let her frustration get the best of her.
