Chapter 86
Married to the Boss: A Love in Disguise Chapter 86
Maria’s first question left Adam speechless.
Maria thought that he was shy and that there were others around, so he didn’t feel comfortable talking to her.
She smiled and said, “Lily, I want to talk to my grandson-in-law alone. Please go ahead and do your work.”
Maria emphasized the words “grandson-in-law” specifically to announce Lamma’s married status and to deter other women from
having any inappropriate thoughts
Lily knew it was wrong to think that way but couldn’t help taking an extra glance at Adam before leaving. How could there be
such a good-looking man in the world?
Adam, on the other hand, didn’t even spare a glance at Lily throughout the entire conversation, which pleased Maria greatly,
The more Maria looked at him, the more she liked him. Her face was filled with smiles as she said, “Lucas, I’m glad you took the
time to visit me amidst your busy schedule.”
Adam politely replied, “It’s what I should do.”
Maria continued, “You and Lumma didn’t have a relationship before marriage, so you need to spend more time together to build
your relationship. Don’t forget about your family just because of work.”
Adam nodded and said, “Yes.”
Adam spoke very little. To avoid any awkward silences, María had to speak more, “Lumma is a strong-willed girl who won’t easily
show her vulnerable side to others. Many things are kept in her heart. Please take care of her more in the future.”
Adam replied with a simple word, “Yes.”
Maria spoke a lot, but Adam’s responses were always a simple yes.
After chatting for a while, Maria began to suspect something. “Lucas, are you and Lumma having a fight? Or is there some other
issue?”
“Maria, rest assured. We did not argue. As you just mentioned, we had no emotional foundation before marriage, and due to
work-related issues, we have been spending
less tinte together. At present, our relationship is still in the process of adjustment.” This was the best explanation Adam could
come up with to alleviate Maria’s worries.
After over a year of marriage, it was safe to say that they were still trying to build their relationship or, in other words. They had
no emotional connection between them.
Maria was a perceptive person and could easily understand what was going on.
It suddenly dawned on Maria that she had never seen them take a photo together despite being married for so long.
Lumma also never mentioned Lucas in front of her. Coupled with other hints from Lumma before...
All the signs suggested that their marriage was not as happy as Maria had imagined it to be.
Many couples who were passionately in love before marriage ended up falling apart after getting married, let alone those who
had no emotional foundation.
Maria hoped for Lumma to get married and have children because Maria wanted to find a man who could love and take care of
Lumma. Growing up without parents, Lumma wanted a happy and fulfilling family of her own, not just to get married for the sake
of
it.
However, it seemed that the marriage Maria worked hard to arrange had brought Lumma not happiness but pain and pressure.
Although Lumma and Lucas had no romantic feelings for each other, Lumma had to repeatedly fabricate well-intentioned lies to
put Maria at ease...
As Maria thought about how hard Lumma had worked to make Maria happy over the past year, María couldn’t help but feel sorry
for Lumma. “Lucas, just be honest with me.”
Be honest?
Tell her that her granddaughter cheated on Adam. Could Maria handle it?
Adam wasn’t keen on thinking about Lumma, who had betrayed him. “Maria, you need to focus on getting better. I’ll come to see
you another day.”
“Have you two already divorced?” Maria, holding back her heartache, uttered the words
she least wanted to say.
She had guessed it, and Adam didn’t see the need to hide it anymore. “We haven’t divorced yet, but we’re preparing to.”
“For what reason are you getting divorced? Is it because of a lack of feelings or some other reason?”
“Some other reason.”
