Chapter Soulless Eyes
Madilynne’s P.O.V
I ran for what seemed like minutes but could have easily been hours. Time was always fleeting when I was in wolf form.
I knew he would be out here somewhere.
Shifting back I pulled on the clothes I found behind a bush hidden before I left pack Territory. My mouth was cramping from running so long carrying them, but at least I wouldn’t be completely exposed. Walking around a bit, listening to my surroundings for any movement. I peered into the sparse trees for any sign of a wolf. Nothing.
After a few beats of dead silence “Come get me you bastard!” I shouted, my voice echoing back through the scattered trees.
SNAP.
Before I had a chance to react, I was being thrown to the ground.
Groaning I tried to push myself up, only to be met with resistance and a growl from behind me as my face was shoved back to the ground.
God damnit, How the hell did they sneak up on me.
“Ease up asshole.” I growled out.
“Dose her, she’ll be easier to carry when she’s not fighting back.” A deep voice commanded. Like hell, I am not getting drugged.
Throwing my head back I could feel the crunch against my skull as I slammed it back forcefully. “Fuck! She broke my nose!”
I could hear a deep sigh before something was jammed into my neck. Making my vision blur, spots dancing across as my limbs swayed.
Catching glimpses of my arms swaying below me as I was rocked back and forth. The crunch of the dirt and rock below as they walked, echoing in my head.
Waking up, my head was throbbing. Groaning “What the hell did you assholes give me.” I demanded as I tried to rub the pain from my head. My hands not quite meeting, I could hear a clank as I pulled. The metal burning into my skin. “Seriously? Chains?”
Blinking, My vision was starting to clear up finally. Nothing around me I recognized, Of course. Because why would I recognize anything. Rolling my eyes at myself I turned, surprisingly where I was, looked like an old jail cell. Guess Miles was feeling nostalgic.
Bastard.
Letting out a deep breath I waited. “So, are we going to get this over with yet? Because I’ve got plans after this.” I spoke out loud.
‘Willow, you good?’
‘Yup, still here. Whatever they injected us with was just a sedative.’ Willow spoke back.
Thank the moon Goddess.
“Look who’s awake.” A growly voice spoke from the other side of the open door.
“Oh finally, I was getting lonely.” I sarcastically chided back.
“I owe you something.” The man said as he walked closer.
Pain erupted from my face, I could feel the blood dribbling from my nose. Regardless of the throbbing pain, I Laughed out humorlessly.
‘Don’t show any fear to these creatures.’ As Willow’s voice floated inside, I could sense her strength below the surface. I had to keep up this blithe facade. “A gift for me? You shouldn’t have.” I sarcastically threw out as I spit the gathering blood from my mouth.
Looking at the man now, I could see the broken nose that hadn’t healed properly.
“Ya know, if you come closer I could fix that for you.” I said through narrowed eyes. Asshole deserved it.
“I’m really going to enjoy torturing you, bitch.” He spoke with a sneer, moving closer to me.
“Enough, leave her alone. Miles will be here soon.” That deep voice commanded again. Ah he must be the ring leader.
“Well, I could think of a few games to play in the meantime. You boys want to unchain me?” I coaxed.
“Not going to happen.” The bigger of the two barked out.
Laughing inside, little did they know I was already playing a game.
For the last year, I’ve been gaining more control over my abilities, with the exception of the visions. Those have been wonky.
‘Unchain me’ I commanded into the man’s head that stood in front of me.
I watched as he tried to fight it, Pushing harder I could feel more of my dominance seep into the link.
“Gio What the hell are you doing!”
CLICK.
One free, one to go.
CLICK.
And just like that, freedom.
Rubbing at my hands I stood up “Now, how about we play, shall we boys?” I asked with a taunting voice.
The bigger one ran at me, sweeping my leg out and gripping his throat I slammed him to the ground with enough force to hear a few cracks. The second one, Gio, Tackled me from the first.
His grip tightened around my neck. I could feel his muscles constrict around my windpipe, cutting off the flow of oxygen. Slipping my hand between his hold, I pried at his grip. Loosening it I spun from his hold, bringing my knee to his ribs and slamming it as hard as I could. I could hear the crunch of his bones breaking as he fell to his knees.
‘God’s do you have to be so brutal. Just knock the bastard out.’ Willow chided. Rolling my eyes at her ‘Ya know, It really should be you loving this not me.’
Before I could make another move a sharp pinch came from my neck. Shit. I forgot about the second one.
A cooling sensation filled my veins as I fell to my knees.
“What”
“What did you inject me with” I gasped out.
“A little something to incapacitate that wolf side of yours.” His deep voice spoke, I could hear the sinister smile in his voice.
Well fuck, this isn’t good. I should have waited.
The cuffs were placed back onto my wrists. “Not so tough now, are you?” He gritted out with a kick to my side.
Coughing as blood came out, “let me go and we can find out.” I sneered back.
“Ah, Look who it is.” That voice sent shivers up my spine.
Turning my head my gaze was met with the soulless blue eyes.
“Miles.”
“I have to say, I’m surprised I didn’t have to kill anyone to get to you. Maybe next time.” He smiled at me.
Growling back “You’ve taken enough lives, Miles, we end this now.”
