Chapter Chapter Sixty-Eight
Up in the air, on the plane:
Frida wasn’t happy with what I had decided.
I had to see Emerson’s pack and commanded of Berrant and Terrence to come with me too. Of course Berrant wanted to talk to Frida all the time, but she didn’t want to. She had even threatened him to throw him off the plane.
But I needed Terrence to come with me for translating and Berrant wouldn’t have wanted to leave his new chosen mate. So he had to come along too. And the job that I had given Berrant and Terrence for coming up with new ways of defending ourselves from the Nightstalkers could be done at her mountain as well.
My idea was to use her pack members and to send them all across the planet, because they can mind link her, as she is still connected to all of them. And if one of them got close enough, and was able to contact her, we could narrow our search more, and find out where she truly was.
Our planet is big, and using all her eight-hundred warriors to be transferred all across it, was going to be expensive. But I didn’t care, and I doubt that she would even care about money either.
And besides being expensive, it would also take a lot of time to find out where she is. Every single piece of land has to be explored and searched for. It is going to take a lot of effort for the wolves, and I could only hope that they were willing to do this for her.
Visiting her pack for the first time like this, wasn’t something that I preferred. But I see no option as to how I could find her otherwise.
“I have arranged for all of the pack to be at the mountain, tomorrow morning eight sharp.” Terrence said and I nodded in thanks.
“Have you told her Gamma of the situation?” I asked him.
“Yes, I had to explain to Timothy. They haven’t seen her in quite some time, so I was kind of forced to tell him.” He sadly said and I nodded.
I decided to take a few hours of sleep, especially after this morning as I hadn’t felt Emerson die. I was happy that she hadn’t been killed again, but it was making me worry even more also. Even though I hated it that she died, she always died on the same time, and it gave me some rest knowing that when she came back, she was still alright. But now that she hasn’t died, I’m not sure as to what her condition is now.
Is she too weak to survive another death? Has she escaped? Has she managed to change the opinion of the Monarch? I don’t know, but it was confusing me, and I couldn’t keep my focus.
Luckily I fell asleep soon, and got woken up by Berrant with a black eye. I looked towards Frida, and she looked angry towards me, with her arms across her chest.
“We are landing in ten.” Berrant said and he took a seat behind me, to shield himself from Frida’s look.
After the plane had landed, I followed Terrence to their pack’s car and Amy quickly took Frida’s arm and dragged her to the other side. Where a small jet stood at the ready, to take them further on to the palace.
“Stay safe.” I said to Frida, right before she stepped in.
“You too.” She linked me.
It was early and we still had to drive a while until we reached the mountain. I sat in the front of the car with Terrence, and Berrant decided to take his nap now.
Upon our arrival, a little to eight, the whole area in front of a majestic snowy mountain was filled with people. Together they made an awful lot of noise, even though they only talked, but because there were so many of them they all began to talk louder and louder. Upon seeing me, being bigger than any other male in front of me, some of them gasped and some of the females whistled. Not sure what that would have meant, but they weren’t looking angry, more delighted I would assume. Great, some of them even licked their lips and got scolded by their mates or parents or whomever stood close.
Terrence made the crowd go silent, as we took a position up the slope a bit to be on higher ground, for them to see us easier. Many of the people we passed by and greeted Terrence freely, happy that he had come home I guess.
As discussed, Terrence translated every word that I had to say, and the people cheered when I told them I was Emerson’s mate, and Terrence even made me show my marks to prove them that I was. But then the sad part had to be told.
“Almost two weeks ago, my pack and pack’s close to mine, were attacked by creatures we have come to call Nightstalkers. They are sophisticated creatures that have a great tactical mind and are the most strong creatures I have ever faced.” I started, and took a few deep breaths, while in the meantime Terrence translated.
“Unfortunately, because we weren’t aware of their capabilities, Emerson had to sacrifice herself in order for us all to be safe. She has been taken by their leader.” I said, not wanting to drag this out any longer.
Loud noises of disbelief came roaring in, many of her warriors howled or shifted in anger. They are truly loyal to her through their bones, and maybe even deeper. I could tell that they would all do, whatever was necessary to help me find her again.
But suddenly one of the men, standing close to me, asked a question. Terrence translated for me, and I wasn’t happy with what I had heard.
“And what if we find her? Are you going to take her away from us, again?” He had said.
“No, it is up to her what she wants. She hasn’t become part of my pack yet, because she is unsure about how she wants to do this. She doesn’t want to leave you all, but she is torn with the fact that her roots lie on my continent. I would only ask you to be patient and to be the loyal wolf that you are right now, and trust her with whatever decision she will make about you all.” I said, and after translating he backed down again and nodded agreeing.
Terrence took over from here, and explained to all of them what was required to do. Of course the children and their caretakers wouldn’t have to travel the planet, but I strongly suggested that every able body that could, would. As only then we would be able to find her sooner, rather than later.
After explaining and assigning jobs, I followed Terrence and Berrant inside the mountain, and Gamma Timothy came along as well. I looked amazed at how her mountain looked like from the inside and was only then truly understanding that she had felt comfortable here, and felt at ease at my house quickly as well. She loves nature and to be surrounded by it.
I suddenly heard a deep growl and strained my ears immediately.
“Don’t worry, that is just our pet bear.” Terrence said.
“What now?"
“Our pet bear, Emerson had decided from the start that he could live in the mountain. And now we are accustomed to him, and he to us as well.” Terrence said again and continued to walk to the back of the mountain.
She even has a bear under her control, I thought to myself, smiling on the inside as she keeps amazing me.
My nose picked up Emerson’s scent and I glanced inside one of the rooms. Subconsciously I drifted towards the door and walked inside. Her smells became stronger the more I stepped closer to her bed. Which I assumed it to be hers.
I grabbed her pillow and took a big whiff, intoxicating myself with her scent.
“Alpha?” Berrant said and I growled loudly.
“I know you miss her, but we have to get organized.” He said.
“You get started, I’ll come in a few.” I said and he nodded.
“Where is she Aron?” Úlfur whined.
“I don’t know friend, but we will find her. Even if it’s the last thing we have to do.”
