Chapter A Gamble For Two 48
Chapter

Louis was knocked to the ground by Alexander's kick, scattering his stuff everywhere. Clutching the handbags meant for Angelina to his chest, he lay there in pain.
Rosalind rushed over to help him up. A wave of pity washed over Rosalind. "Are you okay?" she asked, her voice filled with concern.
"Get away from me. You're all in on this!" Louis snarled, gritting his teeth as he pushed her
away.
Megan walked over and pulled Rosalind back. "He's not worth it. Just leave him be," Megan
said.
"Megan..." Rosalind protested weakly.
Alexander stepped forward, looking down at Louis. "Chester being down on his luck doesn't give anyone the right to take advantage of him. I'm still here, and so is Ryan. We won't let that happen." Ryan shifted uncomfortably, wishing he could disappear. "L-Louis, it's not that we don't see you as a friend," he stammered.
"Get lost! All of you!" Louis shouted, his voice filled with resentment.
Alexander's eyes showed a hint of disappointment, but he said firmly, "If someone tried to steal your girl, I'd do the same. You can count on that."
Louis let out a bitter laugh, gathering his stuff as he rose to his feet. "This isn't over. I'll remember all of you for what you did today," he threatened.
Chester was bankrupt, but Alexander was not someone Louis wanted to mess with. Louis knew he was no match for him yet.
Tears welled up in Louis' eyes. "The woman I love almost died last night, and you're stopping me from seeing her," he said, his voice trembling. "I won't forget this, Alexander. I won't." Alexander swallowed hard, remaining silent. He took Megan's hand and headed back into the hospital.
After they left, two bodyguards stepped in front of Louis, barring his path to the hospital.
Rosalind kept glancing back, feeling increasingly sorry for Louis.
"Ms. Fairchild..." Joshua called out as Rosalind was blocking his path.
With a sigh, Rosalind turned her gaze away and headed back into the hospital.

After giving birth, Angelina quickly lost weight, and the pregnancy swelling seemed to vanish overnight. She lost too much blood and couldn't eat, leaving her pale and fragile.
As the sun rose, light streamed through the window, warming Angelina's face. She moved her hand slightly.
Everyone gathered around the baby, but Chester's gaze remained fixed on Angelina.
After staying up all night, Chester's beard had grown noticeably, with his stubble becoming more evident. He took Angelina's hand, pressing it against his cheek, trying to warm her cold hand with his cheek. Angelina winced at the roughness of his stubble.
"Your stubble is so rough and hard... It hurts," she whispered.
The atmosphere lightened as Alexander came in with a smile. "From now on, Catherine is the princess," he announced cheerfully. "I'm the godfather. Catherine, call me 'Godfather..."""Godfather isn't a popular term anymore; it has a negative connotation," Megan cut in. "Alright, alright." Alexander conceded. "In that case, we're all her uncles and aunt." He pointed to each man. "Catherine, look at me. I'm Uncle Alex, this is Uncle Ryan, and this is Uncle Joshua."
Ryan grinned. "If we're all uncles, then I'm the cool uncle. The one who brings the best presents."
Emily smiled at Catherine, then looked at them. "You guys are going to spoil her rotten." Alexander shrugged, grinning. "Hey, we're practically family. And Catherine needs all the love she can get. Right, sweetie?" He gently touched Catherine's cheek. Alexander lingered around Catherine, eager to hold her despite his lack of experience.
"Mrs. Whitmore, let me hold her. I want to try," he pleaded.
"No way. She's fragile. You might accidentally hurt her neck," Emily said.
Ryan held up his finger, comparing it to the baby's. "Her finger is smaller than my nostril," he exclaimed.
"That's gross, Ryan. Are you planning to let Catherine pick your nose?" Megan teased.
"Do I look like that kind of person? I was just making a comparison," Ryan defended himself.
"Of course, you were," Megan said, grinning. "Who else has nostrils as big as yours? You've got a nose like a pig's."
