Chapter 33
Chapter 33
Robert glanced at Kendrick and walked straight to the banquet hall without saying anything.
The banquet hall was full of people.
There was a manager of the Hoffman family at the door. When Robert was about to enter the banquet hall, he was stopped by the old manager.
“Sir, please show me your invitation,” asked the old manager..
“Invitation?” mocked Kendrick from the door. “How could a boy toy kept by Naomi have an invitation? Let Naomi come over and bring him in. She really should learn some manners! I don’t know how the Labelle family is educating their younger generations!”
Kendrick’s loud voice made many people in the banquet hall look in their direction.
Naomi was sitting with her father. Connor immediately looked over at Robert and observed him carefully. He then looked at Naomi with a puzzled look.
Connor didn’t show up at the auction that day, so he wasn’t aware that this was the son of the Zabinski family.
Some people who knew Robert’s identity from the auction before didn’t know what was happening at this time. They didn’t dare to say anything because the son of the Zabinski family was involved.
Naomi hurriedly explained to her father in a low voice. After listening to Naomi’s words, his expression immediately became complicated. When Connor looked at Robert again, he had replaced his earlier gaze with that of scrutiny, one that examined a person from the younger generation.
When he heard this, the manager at the entrance of the Hoffman manor said, “You are Ms. Labelle’s friend then. Please come in.”
Kendrick’s words were certainly not said to help Robert out. Although the Hoffman family’s manager showed great politeness to Robert at the door, some of the elderly seniors of the Hoffman family were already looking at Robert with dissatisfaction. They even looked at Naomi with blame for not knowing basic etiquette. How could she just casually bring in people for this kind of event? Did she think this was the Labelle family’s banquet?
Even a few of the other guests began to look at Robert ironically. Didn’t Naomi’s friends use the Labelle family’s social standing to force their way into the banquet when they came to it?
After Robert entered the room, he glanced at the twenty–three tables, all of which were full. The Zabinski family from Yrinas weren’t reserved a seat. Robert remained silent as he walked to Naomi’s table. Naomi was the only person he was slightly familiar with at the banquet.
Robert didn’t realize that when the Hoffman family sent an invitation letter to the Zabinski family, they thought the Zabinski family attending might be something of a fantasy. They didn’t realize the Zabinski family might attend the banquet to celebrate Stephen’s birthday. They were under the impression that if the Zabinski family did attend, they would not be treated as a guest but given a place at the main table. Even today’s star of the banquet, Stephen, had to treat the Zabinski family carefully.
Robert walked to Naomi and sat down beside her.
“Mr. Zabinski,” Connor greeted Robert in a low voice.
“Hello, Mr. Labelle,” replied Robert also politely.
After hearing Robert’s reply, Connor seemed to be a little surprised. Connor had met quite a few scions. Some of them were humble, while others were arrogant, cocky peacocks.
As the heir of the Zabinski family, Robert can be considered the leader among his peers in not only Yrinas but even Navarre. No one would have dared to say anything, even if he was arrogant.
Presently, Marilyn was sitting at the table directly opposite Naomi.
Marilyn clearly saw Connor communicating affectionately with Robert, yet she couldn’t hear what they were talking about. Currently, when she looked at the relationship between the two men, Marilyn couldn’t describe how she felt.
Marilyn wondered,
