Anna’s POV ~

It’s been days! Renaldo’s pack has been quiet. Axel and I haven’t picked up any cell phone activity on any of the Culvers.. they haven’t reappeared at Renaldo’s pack. Falcon has been sending trackers to look for traces of rogues.

Falcon and Axel are at council headquarters right now. Axel is setting up more secure servers and Falcon is meeting the new members. Quite the shakeup happened and the King nearly called for everyone to be replaced! He was pretty pissed!

Brady, Marcus, Xavier and I are running drills with our warriors. I was working with a group of Archers.. and Xavier had knives and is incorporating chinese stars. Marcus is training hand to hand with daggers. We keep their training mixed up, so everyone has some experience with everything.. Of course, they have their preferences.. and specialties.. so they all get at least two hours a day to train what they want.

We were wrapping up when we heard the shots. Three.. in rapid succession. I immediately shifted into Beth and told her no glow yet.. I tried linking the girls to call Falcon.. and was blanked. 🐺 Beth.. I need your spirit to reach Othello.. Now! 🐺 On it.. Othello! OTHELLO! We need you 🐺 Bethany! What’s happening? 🐺 We are headed to the northeast border.. the meadow in the clearing. Shots fired.. three.. rapid fire! 🐺 I am less than 8 minutes out. Hitting paws now! 🐺 Anna.. he will be here shortly!

We reach the meadow.. I pull up short. Sabrina is sitting with Bonnie’s head in her lap. Both covered in blood. I shifted and grabbed a tee shirt.. running to my girls. Bonnie is unconscious and I am checking her over. She has a bullet graze on her temple.. which I know this is why she’s unconscious. I placed my hands on her head.. and I smell it.. wolfsbane. Fucking hunters! Bonnie had been hit in the shoulder too.. and I looked at Sabrine. “Bree.. are you hit?”…. “BREE! Are you okay?” She nods.. and says “Bonnie took the shot meant for me… it hit her in the head! Our brave Bonnie took my hit!” I nodded at her and called Brady over to help his pregnant mate. The round that hit Bonnie in the shoulder was a through and through. So it was easy enough to heal.. but I needed Bethany. She shifted out and started her glow.. licking Bonnie’s wounds. I watched as they closed and I could see her eyes pulling from her REM sleep.. and called Beth back.. just as Falcon and Axe hit the clearing. Axel was beside Bonnie in a heartbeat. Brady says quietly “Luna… they took Belinda” and I swung to face him. How the fuck? And I looked at Othella and said “Track her! I’m following… why were the girls out here? 🐺 Marcus? Are you tracking? 🐺 Yes Luna. I’m only picking up hunters.. no scent of Emmett. But I have trace of Belinda.. blood scent.. faint.. I think they are carrying her 🐺 That’s good! If they are having to carry her.. they can’t move quickly

I caught up with Marcus.. Othello was moving in a zigzag pattern, constantly moving forward. Bethany picked up on her bond with Belinda’s wolf, Sadie.. she tells Othello they doubled back on their tracks.. moving south and east. We all turned in that direction.. and picked up trace. Falcon linked “Nathan Henry is on a Kill on Sight order. He does not leave the area!”

Today.. is the day our pack sees what Bethany is made of! MotherFucker hurt my family.. not walking away this time. I run alongside Othello and he says “Scent is stronger” I link him.. levitate… get above the trees….. let me know if you can see them from that vantage point.. We are going glow! And before I knew it he was up.. high in the air and tells us all to turn due east.. there’s vehicles waiting.. he counts twelve.. then he’s back on the ground and we are thundering east.. We spot them… about 500 yards ahead of us.. and I tell Beth Wall! And she threw up an earth wall directly in front of the hunters. I wrap our the six of us in a shield.. just in time for the hunters to spin and throw their rifles to thwir shoulders. Othello levitates Belinda up and away from the hunters.. back towards us. Just as one of them turns his scope toward my aunt.. I had tree roots wrap his ass up and throw him into a tree. Belinda reached us. Her chest covered in her blood and I growl… so loud the trees shook and the ground rumbled. Falcon shifted and put Belinda on Marcus’s back… Told him to get her to the hospital. I will be there shortly!

Bethany started popping lightning.. striking their weapons. Falcon told our guys kill them all… except Henry.. he doesn’t get to go fast.. he will pay for this and I am barely holding it together. I unleashed her lightning.. and she destroyed their vehicles. She turned back to the hunters and started churning wind.. I left Henry to Othello.. but let her little tornadoes pick the others up and dropping them in front of our warriors. I raced up to Othello and we started flanking Henry. Bethany spoke in her gravelly voice “You picked a good day to die Nathan Henry! You should never laid a hand on my aunt, much less shot her! You are a fool Nathan Henry… for attacking our pack… YOU WILL DIE. … A very slow, agonizing death! You better pray I can save my aunt.. and for every day she suffers… we will bring you to the brink of death.. heal you.. and do it again. Again and again.. until you beg us to kill you!” And he pissed his pants! Othello says Eww.. gross! I was going to carey him.. but now I have to drag him! And he lunges so fast.. shifting from Othello,, he punched Henry on the temple… knocking him out.

Then he gave the order to search the vehicles.. wanting any files, tablets or laptops that may be stowed away.

I ran as fast as I could to get to my aunt. Racing into the infirmary, I was told she was in surgery. Marcus was seated with his head in his hands.. and I knelt in front of him. “She’s going to be fine! I checked her wolf. They’re giving her blood right now because that’s her real danger. Once she’s out of surgery… we will get to see her, and I will heal her.”

He asks “Why were they out there and none of us knew? They didn’t mention it to anyone! I don’t get it!” I shook my head and said we will get answers. Right now, we just need patience. Falcon came in with Brady and Sabrina.. I immediately asked her “Why were you girls so far out.. no protection.. no one knew?” A silent tear ran down her cheek..” It was my fault. The baby wants the oddest things. The meadow is the only place wild strawberries grow.. and I wanted some.. so much! Belinda said we would be okay.. two miles in from the border. And patrol would be passing every fifteen minutes.”

I nodded! She’s right! They should have been safe! “Marcus, who was on patrol on the north and east borders?” He checked with his people.. and said “It was Virgil.. and he hasn’t checked in.. I have people checking.”

The doctor came out and told us Belinda is going to be fine. The bullet missed anything vital. The blood loss looked worse than it actually was.. she was unconscious due to a bump on her head. Marcus said “I always tell her her hard head is why I love her” and we laughed.. Then the doctor said “And I don’t want you to worry too much! The baby is going to be fine!” Marcus stuttered and sputtered the hit his knees.. Brady laughed and said “I only threw up.. I didn’t lose me whole mind!” And a shoe whizzed past him.. missing him and bouncing off the window, knocking a tray off a table and he said “Sorry.. I didn’t step into its path fast enough.. We should work on your aim” And every one of us laughed!
