Her Heart Her Terms (Lily and Xavier)

Chapter 249

Chapter 249

The window was slightly ajat at the end of the corridor, letting in a chill breeze that swept through and set Lily's long hair dancing wildly.

She stuffed her hands into the pockets of her down jacket, pulling it tighter around her as she walked briskly forward.

"Don't worry. Dad will sell the house when I divorce Xavier. Hayden's medical expenses will be covered."

Hazel grabbed berjacket. "Don't even think about returning to the Joyner residence if you go through with the divorce! Your father will ruin the family legacy built over decades. Neither your father not I have the face to meet our ancestors because of you!" The sudden tug made Lily stumble. The down jacket she wore had been bought two years ago. It was slightly tighter on her when she bought it.

However, it hung loosely on her this year. There was even room to fit half of her. She had lost a noticeable amount of weight recently. It wasn't evident on her Trame, but she could feel it from her clothes. Even last year's pants no longer stayed up. However, Hazel didn't care about her at all. All she cared about was Bobby. Neither the family's business nor Hayden held as much importance in her heart as Bobby did, let alone Lily.

"You've always said that married daughter is gone for good. I shouldn't expect anything in retum for helping my maiden family. Whether the Joyner family thrives or you can face the ancestors with pride has nothing to do with me," Lily said with a cold expression Hazel's face darkened. She stared at Lily for a few seconds before her anger deflated all at once, like air escaping from a punctured balloon.

"Whatever, I'm not going to argue with you. Let's go home."

Lily was quite surprised. She had purposely chosen the harshest words as she was tired of Hazel living off her hospitality.

Based on her understanding of Hazel, such a response should have been enough to drive her back to the Joyner residence in a fit of anger. Nevertheless, she decided to endure it for another two or three days. Soon, she would leave for the closed-door competition

Hazel might eventually leave when she had nothing to do at home when the time came

The next day, Lily went to Lupier's sales department to request time off from Landon. He approved it readily and even expressed his concem.

"I just have some personal matters to attend to." Lily hadn't mentioned a word about the competition to anyone yet.

"Lily, there's something I want to remind you." Landon offered a flattery smile. "Our store operates a bit differently than headquarters. There's an unspoken rule. "your base salary gets cut in half if you don't land a single deal in the first month, and you're automatically let go if you still haven't closed a deal within three months

Lily had been there for a few days now. All she did was familiarize herself with materials and shadow others as they dealt with regular clients.

The others would subtly compere whenever a new client came in. As a newcomer, she couldn't secure any clients as her sales pitch wasn't as polished as the its

"I understand," Lily said. She remembered a nearby new complex would begin handing keys to its new residents in a week

She planned to distribute flyers there and create opportunities for herself. There were thousands of households in that complex. She could certainly land at least one client

Landon was kindly reminding her this time instead of seeking trouble from her. He even intended to help her. "If I have any clients to spare, I'll send their Information your way." "Alright. Thank you, Mr. Ashford." Lily expressed her gratitude before retuming to her desk.

Three days flew by in a blink. The closed-door three-round competition had officially begun.

Lily arrived at the competition venue in a white down jacket, a pair of jeans, and flat shoes at 8:00 am, carrying a small suitcase. Her outfit made her look like a college student. The security guard had meticulously verified her identity at the hotel entrance before allowing her inside.

"Please hand over your phone and tablet. You may request permission from a staff member if you need to make a call, but only under supervision."

Lily truly understood how strict a closed-door competition was now. "Can I make a quick call before handing it in?"

The security guard gestured for her to go to the side area where several contestants were on their phones.

Most were young people calling their significant others and dinging to their goodbyes with obvious reluctance

The truth was that Lily had no one she couldn't leave behind. She simply messaged Maryanne, letting her know she would be gone for three days. Maryanne replied rather quickly, "My brother told me about it. Let's grab a meal together when you're done in three days!TM
