Chapter 29
The next morning, the crew agreed that it was time to head toward Houston. The day was spent doing maintenance and inspections, stocking up on food and drinks for the trip while Bruce and Bob planned out the route.
Bishop Donavon called while they were on the road. He offered his services and would like to schedule some stops for Will to speak at. They talked about the trip. They had a service scheduled in Houston and New Orleans. From there they were heading to Orlando, FL. Nothing else was scheduled. It was agreed that Will would travel if something was set up.
The next few months went fairly smoothly. The crowds in Houston and New Orleans were as to be expected. Will’s reputation was growing as were the crowds. All the services were televised. Tapes were made available to anyone that wanted on. Bishop Donavon made himself useful to the crew and became the de facto manager for scheduling Will to speak around the country. By the time they were finished in New Orleans, Will was scheduled to perform a minimum of two services per stop to accommodate as many people as possible. New services were scheduled in Orlando and Miami, Atlanta, Washington DC, Philadelphia, New York, Chicago, and St Louis during the winter months. All the services would be non-denominational and shared with all the religious groups. It was estimated that Will would be speaking to over 10 million people by the time it was all over with.
The New Orleans services were held at the Superdome with over 79,000 seats plus another 5,000 on the field. All the seats were filled with people standing where ever they were allowed. Unknown to Will and the crew, there was a very special guess in the arena. A former President of the United States and his wife were in attendance. It seems that the former First Lady was terminally ill and they had heard of the Second Coming of Christ healing those that attended the service.
As the service got underway, Will gave his normal service and called on the crowd to stand toward the end. There was a very strong mental request from the crowd which Will kept trying to identify. Finally, he was able to find the person standing in a VIP box with several others by her side.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, at this time I want to do something that I very seldom have the opportunity to do. I would like to invite someone very special to the stage. This will take a few minutes as this person has no idea that I am going to call her down here and she has some distance to travel. But, if I may? Gentlemen, please escort the former First Lady to the stage. I will grant her request.”
The stadium broke into cheers and applause as they watched the Secret Service escort the former First Lady and President to the stage.
In the VIP area, it wasn’t quite as quiet. The President wanted to know what was happening. How did he know they were here? The Secret Service detail was just as confused. No one was supposed to know. But the First Lady only smiled. Her prayers were being answered. She started walking towards the stage when the security detail stopped her.
“Young man, if you don’t want to lose your manhood, you will move out of my way. I may be ill, but I still know how to use my hands.” She turned to her husband and gave him that look that every husband knows when the wife wants something.
“Please escort us to the stage as quickly as possible,” said the President.
With that, the entire party was escorted out of the VIP area and driven in the supplied golf carts to the stage. Within minutes, the President and First Lady were being led up the stairs to the Second Coming of Christ.
“Mrs. and Mr. President, it is a great honor to have you here!” Will turns to a stagehand and says, “Please get a chair for the First Lady.”
Will turns to the crowd and introduces the former President and First Lady. He then walks over to the First Lady and places his hand on her. He senses her disease and something else.
“Madam, you already know that your disease is terminal. Do you also know that you are special?”
The President looks at Will and says, “What do you mean she is special? Because she is the former First Lady?”
“No, perhaps we should talk about this after I am finished.”
With that, Will turns to the crowd, closes his eyes, raises his right hand and performs the act that everyone came for: he healed those that he could. Only one person remained ill, the former First Lady. Will turned to Amy, Bruce, and Bob and said, “Please take these folks to our RV. I will be there shortly.”
A very confused group of people leave the stage. This has never happened before and they have no idea what is happening now. As they leave, Will kneels and begins to pray.
“Dear Lord, please hear my prayer,” he begins and asks the Lord for guidance.
Forty-five minutes later, Will leaves the stage and walks to the RV. Secret Service Agents watch him approach and open the door for him. One of the agents falls to his knee and bows his head.
Will begins, “Mr. President, you asked me what I meant by special and you deserve an answer if your wife will let me explain.” Will looks at the First Lady and she nods her head.
“Your wife is telepathic like us. She has special capabilities, which she may not know the extent of.” Will turns to the First Lady and asks, “Are you aware of any gifts or capabilities you may have?”
She smiles fondly and nods her head and says, “Years ago, I learned that I could hear people’s thoughts. It was one of the things that my husband always thought was great about me, I always knew what he was thinking.”
“Yes, it is a great skill. But it also means that you are one of us and that is a problem. You see, my capabilities have been limited with those that have the same gifts that we do. It took me a while to hear you trying to contact me. It is a skill that many people who don’t use their telepathy have problems with. You were trying to make sure I would heal you, but you weren’t aware you could actually talk to me.”
“So, all of you are special as well?” asked the First Lady.
Amy answers “Yes. There are hundreds of thousands of us around the world. There are several thousand in Paradise, CO as we speak.”
The President is not a dumb man and follows the conversation and recent events. He asks, “So all of these ‘special’ people, can they telepathically communicate and read minds?”
Bruce replies, “We can all telepathically communicate, but each of us has special capabilities. Some can read minds, some control animals, some control people. No one has the capabilities that Will has.”
“Mr. Smythe, you said that your capabilities have been limited with those that have the gift. What do you mean by that?” asked the President.
“As I was learning what I could and could not do, I found that people with these skills had, what I can only call, a block around their minds that prevented us from reading and therefore controlling each other. There has only been a couple of time when I could affect someone like us. So, you can see, I didn’t want to try this in public.”
“So, you are saying you may not be able to cure my wife?” asks the President.
“That is true. I am willing to try, but it will be God’s will if I can or cannot.”
“I have lived a good life. Please do what you can. If it doesn’t work, we still have time together before the cancer spreads and I spend the rest of my life bed-ridden.”
With that, Will places his hand on the shoulder of the First Lady. He closes his eyes and begins to pray. At first, nothing seems to happen, then ever so slowly his hand begins to glow a faint white and it spreads throughout the First Lady’s body. After a minute, Will removes his hand and looks at the President.
“I have done what I can for her, now, it is your turn.”
“What do you mean, my turn? I do not have cancer.”
“When I shook your hand on stage tonight, I sensed that you are, in fact, suffering from cancer of the colon and it is growing. Yours will be easy to heal as you are not telepathic.”
“Go ahead, honey, it doesn’t hurt one bit, in fact, it feels warm and very comforting,” says the First Lady.
The President nods his head and Will places his hand on his shoulder. Within seconds, it is done and the cancer is gone. Of course, the doctors will want to run tests, but they will find nothing.
Will turns to one of the special agents.
“Sir, I will be here until Thursday morning. Please bring your child to me. She will be healed.”
The agent breaks down in tears. His daughter has Muscular Dystrophy and the doctors have said there is nothing they can do for her. He has had nothing else on his mind for the last week. He almost didn’t make the trip, so he could be with his family.
The agent turns to the President, “With your permission, I would like to make arrangements to fly my wife and daughter here tomorrow.”
“Of course, if there is anything that the President or I can do please ask,” exclaims the First Lady. She then turns to Will. “How did you know what is wrong with his daughter?”
“His mind is very worried. It was easy to hear his plea.”
“Hon, find out how we can get them here tonight. No parent should have to wait to have their child healed and have that on their minds while waiting.”
The President walks out of the RV and finds the agent talking to his wife on a cell phone. Within minutes, arrangements are being made so that the wife and daughter will be flown directly from El Paso to Houston the first thing in the morning on a private flight. Will agrees to meet the plane at the airport when it arrives.
At the airport the next morning, Will and crew are waiting. As they are waiting, a news crew shows up. Seems someone called the local news station and told them that the Second Coming of Christ was going to perform a miracle at the airport on a young girl with MD.
As the plane pulls up to the terminal, the mother and daughter are lead to the waiting area. The husband and Will go and meet the family. With the wife in tears and the husband not far behind, the newscaster begins to explain that the family recently learned that their daughter has MD and that there was nothing that medical science could do for her. As she is speaking, the camera records a warm white glow encompassing the young girl. They also see Will walk out of the frame and head towards the exit.
So, goes the winter for Will and his crew. They travel all over the country, giving sermons and healing the masses. Finally, it is time to return to Paradise. Will has another task to do; he has to train his followers for what is to come.
It is mid-April when Amy, Will, Bruce, and Bob return to Paradise. The expansion has just about been completed. There is other construction happening as well. There is a new church being built just down the street, big enough to seat four thousand people.
Will meets with the original followers along with Pastors Jones and Steve and seeks their guidance.
Pastor Jones stands up and begins to pace. He finally answers Will.
“Will, your mission has been misunderstood for a while now. You assumed that you had to bring mankind to God. While that is very noble, it is not the mission. An event is going to happen that if it succeeds, will destroy the world as we know it. It is an event that only you can prevent. Your followers with all their skills and desires to help mankind will not be able to help you. Time is short as the events that will lead up to the catastrophic event are already happening.”
“Father, you know what will happen?” asked Amy.
“Not exactly.”
“But you know more than you are telling me. Why?”
“Will, you have done many great things. Your followers will continue in your footsteps, just like the Apostles followed Jesus and continued his work, so will your followers continue in your footsteps. Your mission from God is to save mankind and, in a sense, you have been doing that with your sermons and healings. However, your true mission requires skills only you have. God will make sure you are in the right place at the right time to save mankind. That much I know.”
“At times, I know how Noah must have felt. Build an ark, gather two of every animal. No details, just do it. Alright Father, thank you for the insight. As always, I will trust the Lord to guide me when the time comes.”
“How is the new church coming along? When will it be ready?” asks Bruce.
Pastor Steve replies, “It is just about ready. We hope to have services in the new building around the beginning of summer. We will still need to hold two services, but the hope is to have them in the new church instead of two in the old building and one here at the center.”
“If you need anything at all, please let us know.”
As Will and the pastors are talking, Amy takes a phone call.
“Hello, this is Amy. How can I help you?”
“Is this Amy Smythe?”
“Yes, it is. Who is calling, please?”
“Amy, my name is Bob Johnson. I am the President’s personal secretary. He has asked me to contact you regarding the United Nations Peace Plan. They are going to bring the plan before the United Nations General Assembly on September 7th. The President thought that you and Will might want to be there for the reading and discussion.”
“Just a minute, please, while I let Will know.”
“Will, it is the personal secretary to the President. The UN is going to be reading the UN Peace Plan on September 7th and the President wants to know if we want to attend?”
“Yes, of course. That would be great!”
“Mr. Johnson, we would be happy to attend. Please tell the President, Yes. Do we make the arrangements?”
“No, we will take care of everything. The President himself will be there as well. You will be his guest. I will call you with the details in a few days. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, please call me via the White House Switchboard. Have a good day.”
Amy is excited after she gets off the phone. “So, we are going to the United Nations on September 7th as guests of the White House to listen to the reading of the Peace Plan. Kind of cool if you ask me.”
Pastor Steve says, “That is really great news. Will, your work around the nation will now be known around the world, congratulation.”
“Yes, that is really great news. God should be impressed with what you have accomplished,” exclaims Pastor Jones.
The meeting broke up when Johnny started to cry. Amy and I spent the rest of the afternoon and evening with each other and playing with little John. It seemed that a weight had been lifted from my shoulders. I no longer needed to worry about what my mission was. Pastor Jones words that God would make sure I was ready and in the right spot at the right time was enough. I no longer had to worry about the followers or their skills.
Bishop Donavon was not sitting by doing nothing. While they were sitting around Paradise, he set up some sermons for them in Denver, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Jackson, WY, Kansas City, KS and Lincoln, NE. Although these were smaller arenas, the crowds, and TV coverage where just as good as the other places Will had spoken at. By the time the end of summer came around, Will had reached millions of more people around the world. The construction projects were completed and the followers were all trained to be able to control people. Will had sent many of them home and kept in touch with them telepathically. By the beginning of August, the Followers were in positions to control the violence or other problems in over 90 percent of the world. Peace was indeed becoming the norm rather than the exception. Never in the history of mankind had peace spread so far.
Will called all the followers to a meeting in the hall.
Will starts, “Soon, a select few will follow me to the United Nations where we will take part in the reading and voting on a World Peace Plan. It is this plan that I hope you will help enforce along with the governments of all nations. With your help, we will have continued peace around the world!”
There is cheering for minutes as well as other expressions of joy from those in the room. As Will steps down from the stage, he is surrounded by the followers as they congratulate him and offer their best wishes.
As August comes around, Amy and Will prepare to head to New York. The RV is checked over and packed. Bill and Bob prepare their rigs as well and on the 10th of August, they all head towards New York. The first stop is at Coors Field. In Denver, Colorado? Bishop Donavon has scheduled a sermon for the 11th. In attendance will be the governor of Colorado and his wife. Several other sermons have been scheduled as they cross the country. With almost a month, Will has no problem with the extended stops and Bishop Donavon seems eager to help in any way he can.
Coors Field seats a little over 50,000 people in the stands and another 5,000 on the field. It is decided to only seat 1,000 on the field to provide more room for security after some of the recent mishaps. For a weekday, there are no empty seats either in the stands or on the field. The governor and his wife sit on stage and greet Will and Amy as they are introduced. The sermon goes without a hitch and as expected people are there to listen to what the Second Coming of Christ has to say as well as being healed. They are not disappointed.
The next day the team departs and continue the travels east. The next sermon is in Omaha, NE then Des Moines, IO. Both stops go without a hitch and the team heads toward Chicago and the last sermon before the main event at the United Nations in September.
Chicago is my kind of town as the saying goes. Will and his followers arrive a couple of days ahead of time and explore the area. They walk the miracle mile downtown and take a taxi to the Great Lakes area and out to the airports. Will charters a small plane to fly them around for a couple of hours to see Lake Michigan and the surrounding area. That evening they eat dinner in a small Japanese restaurant off the miracle mile. As they are eating some of the best sushi and Gyoza to be had anywhere, Papa-san (the husband of the woman that runs the place) suffers a heart attack. Momma-san is beside herself and crying, not knowing what to do. Amy immediately gives Johnny to Bob and tells Bill to call 911. Will and Amy attend to the old man. Will knows that it is his heart and without hesitation, places his hand on the man’s chest and begins to pray. Within a minute the old man is feeling better. The paramedics arrive and Amy lets them know that the old man had some kind of attack. He seems to be resting. As a precaution, they take him to the hospital.
Momma-san knows that Will had something to do with her husband’s recovery and tries to thank him but is at a loss for words. She has never seen anyone with the powers that Will displayed. She wants to go to the hospital, but she cannot leave the group alone in the restaurant. Amy sees the problem and tells the group they need to leave so she can close up the restaurant and visit her husband. Will tries to pay the bill, but the woman will not take his money. He leaves it on the counter with a good size tip and they all walk out. Momma-san runs after them to give them the money back. Will turns to her and she understands. She bows and returns to the restaurant and closes the doors. She is gone before they are a block down the street.
There is a ball game the next afternoon and the group all agrees to watch the game. It will also allow them to look over the stadium for the following day’s sermon. In an uncommon event, the Cubs win the game and Chicago celebrates with a party in the streets.
Amy and Will celebrate as well, that night in the RV, steps are taken to bring Johnny a brother or sister. The following morning, the team heads into New Jersey in preparation for the reading and voting on the new World Peace Plan.
What is unknown to the team, as well as to the world, is that things are not what they seem. There are those in power that do not want the World Peace Plan and will do whatever they can, to see that it does not get voted on. Halfway around the world, several rockets are being prepared with warheads whose destructive power has never been used before. They will be launched in time to prevent any voting on the so-called World Peace Plan and with luck, put an end to this Second Coming of Christ.
