Chapter 12
Alodia could see those orbs clearly even with the colored dim lights in the park. She could tell what was on his mind at that very moment. She was not that innocent anyway. Instead of shying away or being uncomfortable, she found it amusing and exciting, even though she could feel her body blush.
Just because it is Harman and not just some other guy. And whether you admit it or not, you really like him, Alodia, her mind commented.
Her laugh was tinkling like a bell. "I just said whatsoever one wishes to do, right? Or are you just going to let me elaborate on that part?" "Yes, please do elaborate on that part," he urged her with a soft laugh, too.
It made her skin grow goosebumps, hearing him laugh like that. It just sounded so, so sexy. It seemed to caress her down her lady parts it was crazy.
Their arms rubbed each other accidentally as they continued to stroll around the park. She could feel the friction that traveled from her skin down her spine and her entire system. She just reflected belatedly that she did not merely like him. She was also absolutely sexually attracted to him! That stupid and belated realization though her body already obviously told her seemed to send colored flashes in her brain. And she was so damn excited! That wetness in her core made her aware even more. It was not really comfortable especially that they were in a public place. But curse her body! She was just sexually aroused ever since she met him again tonight. But she knew she had to control herself not to jump him. No, she would not do that.
Her body screamed even more when the back of their hands also touched each other as they walked slowly. She knew he did it deliberately as she could feel his fingers move against it. However, she played innocent and tried to not be affected by his touch.
"Hmm... I don't think this is the appropriate place wherein I should elaborate that matter,” she answered, playing along with his teasing.
"You sound... promising." Suddenly, he whispered in her ear even though he could say it without doing so. The warmth of his breath tickled her entire body, sending her more delicious goosebumps all over. She felt her excitement rose higher and higher as the time ticked by. She could almost feel or tell in that matter that it was already being intimate on his part. It appeared even that he wanted to flaunt not only to her but also to others how attracted he was to her. "Call me anything but I'm a prim and proper woman." She smiled and winked at him.
His lips lifted into a smile, and she saw him hold his breath. Did she just make him excited too? She would be so damn happy if he were. Oh, well... she was positive that he truly liked her even though he did not say so in words. He already showed her how much. And that proposal, was it not enough to conclude? And she was absolutely flattered about it. So much, in fact. She could even barely contain it to herself. It was like her heart wanted to burst with such elation and excitement that she only felt with Harman. She knew it was too early to feel like this with a man she barely knew but logical thoughts just flew right out of the window. Besides, she wanted to play with him. So being careful around him was against her own rules in her own game.
"I wonder how... a prim and proper woman... falls... in love," he slowly asked as he whispered in her ear again.
Okay, fine. He is more than courting you now on your first date. And you know it very well. Also, you love his flirting with you. But are you ready to play along tonight? That was the voice inside her head. Her logical mind was suddenly on top over her feelings at this moment. It just appeared right before her eyes from out of nowhere.
You're right. You have to stand what you said, that you're a prim and proper woman, another voice in her head agreed.
"Let's see... I haven't trodden in those depths yet," she replied meaningfully. Her voice also dropped into a whisper.
There was a look of surprise in his gorgeous dark brown eyes. Perhaps he got what she meant by it-that she was still a virgin. She tried to hide her smile by biting her lower lip and looked away fast so he would not see it.
"I feel so hot. Would you like to grab some cold cocktails?" he suddenly queried with a hoarse voice.
She almost giggled when she looked at him smilingly and nodded. "Sure."
Harman took her to a restobar in Ramada Bucharest Majestic Hotel. They ordered cold cocktails, maybe to get the temperature of their body down. Then, he told her the story why it was his particular favorite restobar. It was the place wherein he got to know the man who taught him about the Forex market. He developed a special friendship with Jafar. And he realized that it later gave him the opportunity to be successful and to get where he was now.
"Can I ask you something personal?" she suddenly asked him after telling her that story.
He shrugged and nodded before he took a gulp of his blue-colored cocktail.
"When you ran away from home, did you hear from your family during that period? Or are you estranged until now?" she asked him curiously.
He smiled sadly, which reflected in his expressive eyes. It seemed that he was still thinking what to say to her. "I never spoke to any of them ever again. After I left, I heard that my mother got so upset that she killed herself by throwing herself at the fast-coming bus... She... died instantly. And my father... well, he hated me for what happened to my mother. We..." His brows knitted as he narrated the story. "We never spoke until he died two years ago because of lung cancer. He was a pretty bad smoker, you see.” Then he let out a big sigh before he took another big gulp of the cocktail.
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that, Harman!" she said sincerely.
"That's how my life was." He shrugged again as he looked into her eyes.
She was confused if she took pity on him, but her heart went out to him. Maybe it was the same meaning. "So, you have no more family?" She was curious, of course.
"I, in fact, have a big family. I have lots of cousins, aunts and uncles. I gave them a mansion in Vaslui so that they can live together. But I rarely visit them. I know that some of them still hate me for leaving without a word many years ago. The others, they just don't care as long as I can support them financially. And the rest, well, they still love me despite everything I've done wrong to our family, especially to my parents. I just wished that my parents understood my decision then, the way the other members of our family did," he expressed wistfully before he finished up his cocktail.
"You have no brothers or sisters?" She wanted to know that part of his life, too.
"I can't say if I'm lucky or not. No, I don't have any." He shook his head with a sad smile. She had the urge to wipe it off from his face. She wanted to erase that sad smile or even those sad memories from his mind. But how? A kiss maybe? A naughty suggestion from her head floated.
Hey! Get a hold of yourself, lady! The other part of her logical mind stopped her.
"How about you? Your family? Can you tell me about them?" She was pulled to the present when he asked that.
She gulped down a mouthful of cocktail first while she was thinking what to tell him. She hesitated, if she would tell him the truth or not. Well, it would not hurt if she would tell him the truth. The only thing that would hurt so much was that her twin sister was gone... forever.
"I... never knew my American father. I heard that he abandoned us when were still babies. My mother died years ago after that because of depression and... well..." She cleared her throat before she continued. "My sister... just died a few months ago."
She saw how sorry he was when he gazed at her. "Oh, I'm terribly sorry to hear that, Alodia," he said it with sincerity and held her hand. He gently pressed it before he let it go. His hand was so warm and strong that something stirred inside her heart.
Why did she feel like she was being comforted when he did it? Was there a chance that she'd have felt better if she only met him before her sister died? Could it have been different for her and her sister then? In a way, she could tell that everything would have been different if she met Harman first. Maybe... just maybe... she would not be so bitter toward men even though with what happened to her sister... if only she met him first...
But why did she feel this way now? Why did Harman make her feel good in just any way, even in the simplest gesture and touch of his hand? It was like he was a pill that she badly needed for her massive headache. And yet, those "ifs" did not happen. And she was still bitter toward men. In fact, she had already fabricated a plan for Harman in her head...
