Chapter 11
Alodia laughed hard at that out-of-the-blue proposal. Their eyes held for long though, before she shook her head. "You have a weird sense of humor, Harman. But I like it. And about your proposal, no, thank you. I'm happy with my job and I love kids." He stared at her face for a long moment before he spoke huskily. "Then... perhaps we can remedy that part where you love kids..." He deliberately let the sentence hang in the air, and she could get what he said between the lines. It was even as bright as the shining sun during the day but it was way hotter than the summer temperature in the Philippines!
She laughed again; it was tinkling animatedly. Yes, she was enjoying his company! Pretty much. She had truly never enjoyed anyone's company than his. Ever. What could Harman have that she liked him very much, that he was so different from all other men? This, she kept on thinking like an unsolved puzzle. It was not just because he was the only rich, sexy as hell Romani guy she had ever met, was it?
"Don't you think it's a bit early for a first date to talk about that part?" she pointed out to him sweetly with slightly raised eyebrows and leaned toward him across the table.
"Call me anything but I'm a straightforward person, Alodia." His crossed forearms were placed over the table to lean toward her, too. Their faces were just a few inches away from each other.
Aside from the food she was smelling now, his appealing scent made her hormones turn loony, creating a revolution inside her. And the evidence of that hot liquid fire flowing between her legs was more than proof enough. She thought her body went feverish all of a sudden.
"I can see that," she replied in low voice of her own and nodded. Truly, the smell of the perfume he was using, which she loved so much, added to that fire she felt inside. And she could see how his eyes strayed over her face, her bare shoulders and the hint of cleavage. It was raw and purely sexual. For a moment, she was speechless. She could feel that her already aroused desire since she met him again tonight was not only coming from her heart and it was also definitely coming from the most intimate part of her body. And to think it was only the caress of his eyes! She wondered what more he could do with those strong and yet gentle looking hands of his... She wondered again how those tapered fingers would feel against her body and down her nether area.
Her throat went dry that she had to wet it by swallowing. She shifted in her bench-like seat, feeling that wetness that soaked her panties. She just hoped it had not gone through her dress.
"I do really hope to know you much better, Alodia." His voice was so low that she strained to hear him. It was so husky, and he seemed breathless.
And why did she think it was so intimate at the back of her mind? She found it so erotic that her sacral chakra was even ignited with that mere sentence! No, scratch ignited. It was already blazing! And the way he said her name, it was like her name was totally new to her. She thought it was the sexiest word she'd ever heard, and it came right out of his sensuous mouth!
Just focus, Alodia, she reminded herself. She even wanted to kick herself. She had to remember that she was only playing this game! But this time, it was different because she had to enjoy herself. And it was not only because of her dead sister and those jerk male species. This was different. This was Harman and he was unlike the others. She could not compare him with anyone she'd met then. She could tell it from the moment she admired his physique at the airport.
He reached out one hand to touch her soft cheek, caressing it like it was the most fragile thing he had ever touched. The tingling sensation of that touch sent thousands of subtle volts into her system, shocking her through the very core. It added to her already flaming desire for this man. For only this one man. She was like a bull focused only on the red cloth in front of her and she had to ram that hard if she could.
She knew it was not like her to jump a man, but Harman had that kind of pull to her that she knew she could never refuse or fight. All she could do was to just get along and see what would happen next, while she enjoyed this game. "Well, I do hope to know more about you too, Harman," she answered softly with a mysterious smile to match. That excitement traveled all the way down to her now very wet core.
He slowly blinked and smiled at her, before he withdrew his hand. He held his wine glass, and she did the same. They clinked their wine glasses and drank from it, not leaving their eyes from each other's face.
They continued to eat and talked just about anything under the sun, getting to know more each other. She got to know his favorite food, color, artists, music and others. In return, she told him hers too. No pretensions. She was being herself. He had that effect on her, unlike the other guys she played.
After dinner, they had a stroll at Water Fountain, still in downtown area. The dancing water and lights were beautiful as the latter changed from white to blue, purple and green. It was also good to listen to the sound of the water of the fountain. There were other people watching the water show but she felt it was only her and Harman present in the area.
"In the Philippines, we have this so-called Luneta. It's the most popular park in our country. It's a historic place where everyone can freely roam around and do whatever one wishes to do. Like here, wherein people can have some picnic if they want to, sit on the benches, read something or whatsoever," she told him conversationally as they walked on the brick-stoned pavement. Her hands gestured gracefully without effort as she spoke. She was aware that Harman was always attentive to her every action, which made the heat creep on her cheeks. But she was grateful enough it was not bright as daytime, so it was not that obvious, if he did notice.
He smiled charmingly at her. "And is it also fine if lovers have a stroll there?" His eyes were twinkling, teasing her.
