Forgotten Wife: Let the Traitors Kneel Down

Chapter 4

4 A stifling heat April looked for something to cut the corset of her dress because otherwise it would be impossible to take it off and seeing the attitude of the maids, none of them would help her take it off.

She rummaged through the drawers, luckily for her she found a sewing box that had everything, she took out some scissors and began to cut the corset trying not to hurt herself.

When she took off her dress she felt like she could breathe again, then she realized that she had nothing to wear, she had arrived at that place with only what she was wearing, there was nothing else she could put on and she had just torn it.

_Why am I so stupid and what am I going to do now, the king has made it clear to me that I can't ask for anything in this place, and even if I did, I doubt the maids would give it to me.

April lay down on the bed in just the light underwear she was wearing and began to think about what she would do to get clothes.

She turned around several times in the soft bed, caressing the soft silk sheets.

Then an idea came to her.

Since she didn't have any dress to mend, she would have to do it herself.

While she was looking for something to cut her dress with, she had found several sets of sheets, she could use them to make yourself a dress or two.

April got out of bed, took out a white sheet and a lime green one, and got to work.

Luckily, she was a good seamstress so she could make herself a simple dress.

That was better than walking around in just underwear.

While cutting the sheets April said.

"I just hope they don't mind me cutting the sheets," she shrugged and said to herself.

_If they do it I'll have to endure the scolding, nothing can be done, I need my clothes.

April stayed up all night making her dress, she used a few embellishments from the wedding dress so that her dress wouldn't look so simple, in the early morning she was able to finish her first dress, a lime green one with white lace embellishments.

She tried on her dress and when she saw that it fit her like a glove she smiled with satisfaction.

Then she gathered up the pieces of fabric and hid them so that the maids would not find them, then she went to sleep.

The next day no one came to wake her up for breakfast.

Abril woke up at noon, and shortly after a brown-haired maid came in.

She told her her name was Rena and brought her a simple meal consisting of vegetable soup, a piece of bread, water and an apple.

The maids thought that by giving her such a poor meal they were bothering her, but for Abril, who couldn't have three meals a day, that was a luxury.

She ate the soup and the bread, left the jug of water and kept the apple in case they didn't give her dinner.

When she finished, the maid collected the plates and left silently.

April used the rest of the day to make another dress and underwear.

At dinner time the same maid, Rena, returned to her room with a tray of food.

The dinner was more copious than the one at midday.

She had given her a beef fillet with potatoes and a salad.

She also had an apple for dessert.

April ate all the food, cleaned the plates and put the apple away as she had done at midday.

The maid stared at her, however, she didn't say anything about her strange habit of saving food.

The seasons went by, spring ended and gave way to a hot summer.

For the first time, that room that had become April's home became a real prison, it was so hot that it was unbearable, she went out to the balcony but the sun beat down all day and didn't give her a break, even the nights had become hot, she had asked the maids on several occasions that she wanted to leave the room, but they said that they couldn't let her out, that it was the king's orders.

One night when April felt like she was going to die from the heat, she escaped from her room.

There were no guards guarding her door so she had no problem escaping.

She went to the garden, sat next to a fountain and enjoyed the fresh air that mixed with the water from the fountain.

For the first time in days she felt like she was breathing again, she stayed for a while, when she had to go back to her hellish room.

She hated it, but she didn't want to get into trouble, she went back trying not to be seen by anyone.

After that day every night he would sneak out and go to the fountain to cool off, he would put his feet in the fountain and enjoy the cool water that bathed his feet.

Alessandro went out for a walk for a while, the stifling heat of his room was driving him crazy, as he walked through the garden he saw a young woman sitting on the edge of the fountain with her feet in the water, he wondered who was so shameless to do that.

He came a little closer, seeing a reddish curly hair he knew who it was, it was his wife Abril Venobich, Alessandro clenched his fists tightly to calm his murderous instinct, every time he saw her he wanted to kill her, her hair reminded him of King Ricard Venobich who had cruelly killed several of his brothers a few years ago.

Every time he saw her his blood boiled and all he wanted to do was kill her, she was so small and thin that he only needed to squeeze her neck a little hard to kill her, he turned around and went back to his room.

After that day he discovered that April sneaked out of her room every night to go to that fountain to cool off.

He found her behavior vulgar, but he let it go, acted as if he didn't know what she was doing, and stopped thinking about her.
