Chatper 1046
Chapter 1046 Victims and Perpetrators
Puzzled, Lena gave Gideon another hard punch.
This time, she didn’t hold back, causing Gideon to groan. Worriedly, Gideon
looked at Lena and said, “Didn’t you just pass out? Don’t hurt yourself with
such force.”
Lena was speechless.
How did she never realize that Gideon could be so caring?
“This child...” Lena suddenly became serious, causing Gideon to feel
nervous.
Did she not want this child?
Enter title...
Gideon recalled her attitude towards marriage and relationships, feeling very
worried.
Lena looked at Gideon and spoke firmly. “This child is mine.”
“But he’s also my child,” Gideon replied, furrowing his brow.
Lena darted her eyes. “You can find someone else to have another one...”
Gideon chuckled in frustration. He stood by Lena’s bed, looming over her with
a sense of pressure. “Lena, say that again?”
Faced with his angry gaze, Lena dared not look at him.
Gideon straightened up and stared at Lena. “I can understand your fear of
marriage and love, and I’m willing to wait for you to trust me. But you can’t
ignore my feelings because of these fears, and you certainly can’t...”
Gideon took a deep breath, then exclaimed, “Treat them recklessly and
trample on my feelings.”
After saying that, he angrily stormed out of the ward.
Lena’s assistant, looking nervous, walked in. She looked concernedly at Lena
and said, “Ms. Jenkins, are you...”
Lena rubbed her head and said, “I’m fine. You can go back.”
“But...” The assistant looked worriedly at Lena. Gideon had just left in anger,
and if she left now, Lena would be alone here, which wasn’t right.
However, Lena didn’t mind. “If there’s a problem, I’ll call a nurse myself. I can
go home tomorrow.”
Under her insistence, the assistant had to leave first.
Lena turned her head and looked out at the warm streetlights, thinking about
what Gideon had said.
He had feelings for her, and she also loved him.
But he didn’t know that her childhood experiences made her regard marriage
more like a joke.
Blake and Clare became a couple, disregarding ethics to produce offspring
and suffer the consequences. More women were forced to marry a man and
numbly fulfill their duty of giving birth to children.
When those women grew old, they went from being victims to becoming
perpetrators.
Generations passed, repeating the cycle over and over again.
That was why Lena didn’t believe in marriage, let alone in men. She had
worked hard to crawl out of that quagmire and would never allow herself to
fall back into it, nor did she want to become a perpetrator.
Lost in her thoughts, she heard a sound at the door of the ward.
Lena thought it was the assistant and turned her head, saying helplessly, “I
told you I don’t need any help. I’m not...”
As she turned her head, she froze upon seeing the person at the door.
It was Gideon.
Gideon was still unhappy but placed two exquisite meal boxes in front of her.
“I heard that you fainted as soon as you started working. You must be hungry
now.” He gently placed the food on Lena’s tray and spoke warmly to her.
