Fight for Me

Chapter Run!

Nicholas runs into the treeline and almost immediately notices a shift in the air. He stops in his tracks as he feels someone pushing a mind-link at him. Tyler.

Alpha. We’re under attack!! Wild rogues. They got through the border at the rocky ridge to the south.

They’re already through!?

Just their luck. Patrols were in the middle of changing shifts.

That’s too much of a coincidence. He thinks to himself.

Have all pregnant women and children go down to the underground tunnels for safety.

Yes Alpha.

Nick shuts the link and immediately opens another as he rushes to the southern border where fighting has already started.

Ben.

Yes Alpha.

Initiate phase 3 of attack plan.

Yes Alpha.

The link dies as the fighting ahead of him become loud and visible.

Nick isn’t necessarily worried. He prepared for all possible scenarios, and all his pack members are respected warriors.

But for all the bloody times an attack should take place, right now is not the best. He doesn’t have time to waste. He needs to get to Layla.

He shifts into his large black wolf, and gives him free reign to take over and finish this as quickly as he always prefers.

As they get nearer to the border, Layla hurries alongside Blake, gripping her rugged backpack tightly over her shoulder. The only thing she really owns. What her parents gave her to, - survive.

She didn’t bother saying goodbye. What would be the point? Everyone already knew she was leaving, and she had clearly long-overstayed her welcome. Her visit here at the Shadow Moon pack was just another pit stop anyways.

She looks up at Blake’s rugged but calm face. With time, maybe I’ll tell Blake the truth about me.

But Blake abruptly stops, holding his arm out in front of Layla, as if stopping her from walking any further and protecting her at the same time.

Before she can ask him what’s wrong, he shoves her hard and away from him.

She falls hard onto the ground. Looking up, she sees a wolf jumping at Blake. With its crazed yapping and the foam dripping from its mouth, she knows it’s a berserk wolf.

She stands there frozen, not sure what to do, what she can do. As Blake throws the wolf off him, he shouts at her.

“RUN!!”

It takes her a second to register what he said, but the sound of another growl coming from behind her has her sprinting back in the direction they came from.

Dashing past the countless trees, she soon hears the sound of wolves growling and howling. And even gunshots in the distance.

It’s an attack.

Noticing a ruggedly brown wolf close on her trail, she tries to push herself harder, but it’s still faster.

Missing the chance to yap at her ankle, the wolf jumps. In that instant, she stops and huddles over, causing the wolf to jump over her.

With the wolf still in mid-air, she hears a loud gunshot and sees the wolf falling limp onto the ground. Looking to her side, her eyes widen as she sees two people holding guns approach her. One, an unfamiliar woman. But the other, a man she might have only seen once, but had brought her torturous fear.

“I finally found you.” He says with an eerie grin.
