Chapter Ever?
Later that night
Both Layla and Nick were busy throughout the day. Nick had loads of work to get through and Layla found herself helping out more around the house than she ever did.
Later that night at dinner, Nick’s tense body seemed to finally calm down, the moment he saw Layla in the dining hall.
She’s still here. He sighs in relief.
Layla’s concerns for the day, however, were swept away by the other pack members. Even though she doesn’t have Cody with her as usual, she noticed how accommodating the other pack members are to her as well. She seems to be getting closer with Ben and Micah, even Margret.
People are already getting up from the table, as Layla is still chatting with Margret.
Her attention suddenly gets drawn to the other side of the room, when she sees Nick getting up and leaving the room, with Rebecca in tow.
As everyone eventually starts getting up to leave, Layla too gets up and makes her way to her room.
Just as she reaches the top of the staircase, she sees Nick leaning against a wall, looking at her.
“Nick?” She says in almost a whisper.
He watches her in her loose dress, barefoot, looking at him confused like a baby deer lost in the woods.
He grabs her small hand in his big one and leads her down the hallway opposite to her room.
Pulling her into his office he finally speaks. “We have to talk.”
Layla continues looking at him confused, and realizes that she can’t really be mad with how adamant he’s being. Because she too wants to talk with him.
Pffh! She starts giggling. “Okay, big guy. What’s on your mind?”
He looks at her with much curiosity. He still finds it difficult to figure out how she thinks.
“When are you leaving?” He asks bluntly. He’s been wondering the whole day when she plans on leaving.
But the smile on Layla’s face suddenly drops, hearing this.
Is he that eager to get rid of me? She thinks looking at his serious face.
“I haven’t actually decided on that yet. But I can be gone by tomorrow if you-“
“No.” He interrupts her. “You can’t leave so soon.”
Layla is getting even more confused with all the mixed messages Nick is giving her right now.
“Nick? What are you saying?”
“It’s not safe yet.” He sighs. “There have been strange movement among the rogues in the area, and I’ve sent men out to check it out. Until we make sure that things are safe out there, I cannot let you leave.”
“Nick, I can take care of myself. Even from a few rogues.” She tries to smile, but Nick growls.
“And what happens when they go berserk?”
She goes silent thinking back to that tragedy.
But why is he saying that they would also go berserk, -like he expects it to happen?
“There’s danger coming.” She says more like a statement than a question.
Nick curtly nods, knowing there’s no point to try and hide it from her.
“Okay.” She agrees with a nod. “I’ll stay a few days longer.”
She slightly smiles. But when she notices Nick staring at her, she spins around, facing the large window.
She sighs as she stares at the moonlit view.
“I think I’ll miss this place.” She’s met with silence. “I know I’ve been here for barely a month, but…….I don’t know. There’s just something about this place,….and the people here.”
She smiles again remembering Cody.
“It’s kind of strange thinking about leaving, and not coming back here again.”
“Ever?”
She turns to Nick as she hears his voice.
“Well, there isn’t really a reason to come back. Besides,……isn’t that what we basically agreed on when we rejected each other? I can move on freely with my life, and you don’t need to be bothered with a ‘human’.”
She ends off with almost a whisper. Lately she’s been thinking a lot about what she actually is. Referring to herself as ‘human’ is beginning to feel weird for her.
But Nick is being bothered with a mixture of thoughts of her needing to leave and him wanting her to stay.
“So.” She looks up, and sees Nick approaching her slowly. “You’re saying that when you leave, I won’t ever see you again?”
The deep angry tone in his voice is confusing Layla, especially seeing his lust-filled eyes.
She finds her body taking a step forward on its own, as she replies. “Never.”
With barely a foot between the two, they both grab each other as if on instinct, into a smoldering kiss.
Layla is standing on her toes trying to deepen the kiss, as Nick grabs her impossibly closer to him, - wanting her soft body and sweet scent on him.
They both know that if they won't see each other again, they have to make the most of what time they have left together. They both just want to appease their carnal desires, hoping it will help them move on.
He’s like a mountain hovering over her, and she wants to embrace every inch of his toned body for however long she has left with him. Though, she can feel him holding back. She knows he is. But she wants all of him, even that cold and violent animal in him. She doesn’t really know why, but she’s not afraid of him.
She bites his bottom, getting a deep growl from him. Slightly pulling on his lip, she pulls him in closer and shoves her tongue in his mouth. Nick instantly reciprocates her challenging kisses, barely giving her a chance to breathe.
He wraps her one leg around his waist. But with her small body, her other leg is practically dangling in the air, that she has to wrap her arms around his neck. Climbing this mountain of a man, he feels her body grinding against his.
Gggrrrhhhh. He growls as he stomps forward, shoving her body against the large window.
Crack!!!
Nick instantly stops kissing her and pulls his face back. His eyes go wide, seeing the large cracks in the window behind Layla.
“Fuck!” He says through clenched jaws as he dejectedly lowers his head. His hands shakingly holding her.
“Nick.” Layla gently says through heavy breaths, as she turns his face to look at her. She leans in and gives him a feather light kiss, before giving him a sly smile. “I’m not as fragile as I look.”
She heard the cracking noise, and can guess what happened just by looking at his face. But she didn’t even feel the impact. All she feels right now is Nick’s touch.
Feeling his hold on her tightening again, she leans in to kiss him again.
Nick growls again as he kisses her back. He carries her from the window and places her on his desk, shoving its contents onto the floor.
He moves his kissing onslaught down to her neck, finally giving her a chance to breathe. Getting such an intoxicating dose of her scent from her neck, Nick gives hungry, open-mouthed kisses. He can hear his wolf howling in his head. Her scent is getting him on a high and his grip on her body tightens. Neither of them even realize his morphing claws digging into her skin.
Layla moans as she tightens her legs around his waist and getting her fill on feeling his toned body.
The sound of ripping material resonates in the room, as Nick clears his way to her cleavage. He roughly tugs her bra down, exposing her breasts. He wastes no time leaning down and grabbing one into his mouth.
Layla gasps at the sensation. She never knew it would feel this good.
She feels his hand hook into the side of her panties, and hears him rip them off her. Her breath hitches for feeling so exposed so suddenly. Though, she can feel her whole body heating up and her nails clinging to his arms.
Nick pulls her to the edge of the desk, -her exposed-self against him, feeling him.
She moans, feeling him grinding against her as he brings their bodies closer. He catches the rest of her moans with his deep kisses, as one of his hands continues to roughly play with her breast.
That’s when Layla remembers the tingling sensation she always used to get when Nick touched her, but she’s not feeling it right now. That’s when she realizes he still has all his clothes on. With his body flush against hers, she grips the collar of his v-neck and uses all her strength to rip the piece of cloth.
Nick pulls back from kissing her and stares down at his ripped shirt. He looks back at her with a smirk, looking quite impressed. He straightens up, pulls the ripped shirt off and throws it in a far corner.
Just as he leans in to attack her body again, she stops him as she holds her hand out, - palm against chest.
He looks at her confused. But she leans forward and starts tracing her hands along his body, admiring him. She always admired a man’s sexy body. But Nick’s is like a massive canvas she can’t get enough of.
Releasing a deep growl within his chest, he grabs her behind her neck and gives her a smoldering kiss. Feeling her wetness through his jeans, Nick pulls back from the kiss. Before she can even react, he pulls her off the desk and spins her around, as he holds her around her waist to stand steady.
She puts both her hands on the desk to help her stand, as she suddenly feels him leaning against her and kissing her neck from behind her.
She barely has a second to think when she feels his hand gliding up her inner thigh and he thrusts a finger in. She gasps with a moan, which only grows louder as he adds two more fingers. She leans back and into his body as he holds her against him. She can feel how very hard he is, as her ass grinds against him from his fingers’ pumping action.
Nick can hear the howling in his head growing louder.
He and his wolf both love the feel of her against him, her scent and her taste. The animal in him wants his prey. Nick can’t help but give a long lick along her neck, all the way up to the bottom of her ear.
And hearing Layla’s delicate moan, he pumps harder with his fingers and brings his other hand up, squeezing her breast.
“Aah,…..fr-.aah. Nick.”
She raises her arm and brings Nick’s face closer to her nape. He kisses her neck again, slightly grazing her skin with his teeth. He can already feel her tightening.
But the slight taste of blood has him slightly pull back from her neck. That’s when he realizes his canines morphed and nipped her neck. With her continued moaning, he figures she didn’t feel it. Continuing to let his fingers play with her, he leans back down and licks the small trail of blood dripping down her neck, as he tries to retract his canines.
Gggrrrhhhh!! That’s when he hears an angry growl from his wolf.
Mate! Mark!
Nick releases a growl hearing his wolf and feeling his adamant attitude.
Layla grips onto his arms with her nails as she arches into him with a growing moan.
Mark! Mark mate!!
Nick can feel his wolf pushing through and his canines lengthening again.
Ggrrhh. He growls as he shoves a moaning Layla to the side and onto the floor.
Confused and slightly angry, Layla looks at him as she slowly stands up. “What was that for?...Nick?”
Nick is fisting his hands trying to fight for control, but looking down he sees Layla looking like a teasing treat, - with her long raven hair hiding her exposed chest, and the scent of her arousal emanating all over her.
He stalks towards her and stops right before his hand could grab her. Layla can see his eyes glowing on and off.
“Nick.” She tries to reach for him, but he steps back.
“Leave.”
She freezes. “What? Why?” She hesitantly asks.
She doesn’t know if she did something wrong. But she’s getting annoyed with how he always decides things and expects them to go his way.
She approaches a shirtless Nick and asks brazenly. “Why? What’s wrong now?”
“You need to get away from me.” He says through clenched teeth, trying to not make eye-contact.
But with every step she takes forward he takes one back, until his back hit the bookshelf.
“Why are you pushing me away? Don’t act like you don’t want this.” She grabs his face and brings it closer to hers. “We both want this.” She whispers as her lips hover under his.
Gggrrhh! He grabs her by her neck and spins her, shoving her hard against the bookshelf. She can see him clenching his jaws as he pushes his body against hers and leans in, - smelling her hair.
His muscles bulge, his breath grows shaky and the grip on her neck tightens. Layla notices, not because she can feel it, but because it’s getting harder for her to breathe.
She tries to loosen his grip, but he’s not even listening to her. She knows she needs to get his full attention before his grip leaves a bruise.
She slides her fingers through his hair and grips, bringing his face to hers, so she can look him in his eyes. “Nick,….Nick.”
Seeing him focusing on her, she feels his grip on her throat loosening. She can sense his body tensing up and his breathing still growing heavy.
Nick can feel his canines trying to grow again and he’s trying to focus on keeping that from happening. But glimpsing down at her neck, he can see a small trail of blood dripping again from that nip he gave her.
Ggggrrhh!!! He slams his fist against the bookshelf behind her, breaking a shelf.
She gasps from shock, seeing him suddenly act this way. Looking at him, she can see his eyes completely glowing.
“Leave! Get away from me!” He says as he clenches his hands into fists, trying to keep his hands to himself.
But seeing this is slightly getting Layla worried. She’s not sure if she should be scared, but she knows Nick looks and sounds desperate.
She slowly walks past him and makes her way for the door. She pulls her bra back in place and tries to cover as best she can with the rip in the dress. As useless as it seems, she’ll at least have to try and look decent leaving here.
But just as she reaches the door, she feels her body being pulled back and thrown on one of the couches with such a force, it almost tilts over.
Gggrrrhhh!!!
Seeing the ferocious figure in front of her, she knows this is not the Nick she knows. Seeing him approach her, she tries to crawl off the couch on the opposite end. But he grabs her ankle and pulls her back and under him.
Seeing his sharp canines, she knows that she really needs to find a way out of this. She doesn’t even know why he’s acting this way, but that’s the least of her worries right now.
With her body size and strength, she knows she’s uselessly thrashing against him. But Cody taught her a few tricks.
She knees him hard in the nuts and shoves him off her, and he rolls onto the floor with a vexed grunt.
Just as he tries to grab her again, she scrambles over the back-rest of the couch, trying to get distance between them. He roughly pushes the couch out of the way and approaches her again. She runs around the desk, but he practically throws it to the other side of the room.
Trying to make her way for the door again, she runs, but trips when she feels a grip on her ankle. Turning around, she sees him climbing over her again. She quickly wraps her legs around his waist and flips them over.
She tries to get off him, but he grabs a hold of her thigh. She kicks him with her other leg and he barely falls back. He stands up blocking her way to the door and towers over her as she still sits on the floor, back against the wall.
Ggrrh!
Just as he takes a step forward, the door swings open with two people rushing in.
Layla barely gets a chance to figure out what’s going on, when she sees a serious Tyler gripping Nick around the neck and pulling him to the far corner of the room. She suddenly feels that she’s being picked up, and when she looks up, she sees Tristan, rushing out of the room with her.
Layla is still trying to understand what is actually going on as she hears Nick’s growls echo through the hallway.
