Fated Hellhound

Aaron links the elite guard to meet everyone in the conference room. Time for some brainstorming. And they will need Renata’s talents for some of it.

Aaron points to their strategy map.. looking at Orion, says “We want to dig a trench here…around 2 feet deep..and fill it with crushed shale and granite..Fairy..can you glamor it to make it unseen?” She nods and responds “Of course…and that will be the first line.. what about claymores…filled with wolfsbane gas…up about 50 yards from that? Not enough to kill them..but enough to knock out their wolves.” Brian jumps in with “We can install tripwires that will deploy silver cables for the next line..” Orion suggests having them on remote triggers..instead of tripwires.. it would allow timing control. Maybe allow a line of wolves to cross..lulling them into a false sense of security. Abraham chimes in with “We fill flame thrower tanks with oil…something soluble to not damage the earth…and have those ready for wolves crossing the border.”

Orion says “I want triage tents set up…about a mile from the frontline. Baby..I want you to stay with the medical units… at least, until I need your gifts to end it. I need to know you’re safe! Aaron…go..get started on that trench.. Brian, set the remotes for the cable triggers. Dad… can you get munitions to set the claymores with the gas? Abraham, you’re on flamethrowers!! Renata and I will meet you on the battlefield, after a quick stop by medical to let them know what we need.” And Renata asks “Can we stop by the kitchen? I want to let my ladies know to prepare tons of easy to eat foods and snacks. As well as several hundred gallons of potable water!” Orion nods and grabs her hand…leading them all out to handle their part in the plan.

Once Renata and Orion had taken care of everything that needed to be lined up..they headed for the eastern border.. Brian walked over and said “I have 600 warriors ready to deploy on the south and north borders. As soon as the enemy is spotted they will begin sporadic attacks to bottleneck them towards the east. Thank Goddess for the mountains to the west!”

Renata wandered over to the trench! It was impressive…four feet wide… almost three feet deep and 150 feet long. Wolves landing in that trench will break legs…gash legs and torsos.. some may sever limbs! That’s gonna leave a mark!

She spotted Abraham supervising the placing of the claymore gas bombs.. and skipped over to him. He opens his arms to catch her and spun her around in circles..causing her to erupt in giggles. Orion spotted her from a distance when he heard her giggle. Charles asked “That doesn’t bother you “ and Orion said “why would that bother me? I know she loves only me…and I trust those men with my life! If anything…it reassures me! I know not one of my pack would hesitate to lay down their lives for her. They adore her! And she loves them! Each and every one! Did you know…she addresses each one by their names!? She knows the name of all 12,000 people in our pack!” Charles laughs “She’s creating her family!” And Orion replies “Just like I did!”

Orion sees her stopping and speaking to the trees…and he knows she is apologizing to them for any pain they may feel from the upcoming battle. She skips in his direction with a butterfly atop her head and he laughs. He said “Your friend has tired wings,yeah?” She grins and says “No…he was just telling me that there is a nest of peregrines on the north side and they may help, if I ask. So can I go find them?” Orion shook his head and tells her “I will walk with you!” He shouts out “We’re off to see some falcons!” And Aaron fires back “Are they with the wizard?” Renata shakes her head “Idiot!”

Approaching the peregrines nest …she whispers Hello up at them.. She can hear the babies so she thinks it must be their lunchtime…so she waits. Spying a bunny..she ran over and picked him up. He laughs and asks “you just can’t Not talk to every living thing around you, can you?” She smiles up at him saying “This is Whitney…he wandered too far from the clutch and is trying to find his way back..but he’s okay…because I hear his daddy grumbling about having to look for him…again! Whitney! You need to stop wandering off! It’s hard on your mama! And you see up there? Right there in Mr. Pine?That is the nest of a family of peregrine falcons! And They Will Eat You! Ahh.. there’s your daddy!” Setting him down she told the dad she scolded him and the father must have thanked her because she uttered “Welcome “

She asked again “Mr. Falcon? Are you there? Can we talk a minute?” And sure enough….this huge falcon dropped down and landed at her feet…and she immediately sat…She praised him..and preened his feathers all while she explained our situation. He was patient and listened calmly. Then…he let loose with squaks and squeaks and then she was hugging him and thanking him. So Orion assumed mission accomplished!

They walked back to the battlefield and the trench was dug and filled with rocks.. and Renata glamored it so the trench was practically invisible. Aaron walked up to Orion and asked if they found the falcons and he laughs and says “Oh yeah.. but first she spoke with a butterfly..made sure a bunny made it back to his dad after she scolded him about wandering off..then this gargantuan falcon sat at her feet..while she combed his feathers, telling him why she could use his help! I am of half a mind to just let her end this joke of a war with her little fuzzy friends! Can you imagine Elden’s humiliation?” And they both laugh!

Everyone was back in the office and Orion said “Reports..what do we know?” Abraham speaks “Lionel’s old pack are floundering without an Alpha on site.. I have several applicants from the second and third sons of Alphas. I have placed checks by the ones I believe are the best fit. If you could read through them now..maybe we can get an Alpha to them by morning?” Orion took the reports to read…

Renata tells everyone “Freddie will fly recon and be able to let us know which direction they will be coming from so we can get them where we want them” Aaron laughs “Freddie Falcon?” Orion asks “Why wasn’t the bunny named like ‘bobby bunny’ or something…in keeping with that theme?” Renata rolls her eyes “Seriously, babe? You have 27 kids and see how many B names you come up with!” Everyone cracked up..and Abraham says “you asked “

Brian tells them “GPS still has them on a straight course to us. They have stopped for the night..it seems. I will keep monitoring. I have it set up to throw an alarm if the GPS activates!”

Orion tells Abraham which potential Alpha he thinks will do well at Lionel’s..and Abe agrees…he was his choice,too. Then Orion says “Dad…where are you with the applications for your advisor panel?” And Charles said “There has been an overwhelming response. But I have a couple suggestions I’d like you to consider… First one, what if we reduce the number of advisors to 8 instead of 14? 14 is too many chefs in the kitchen! And second… what if we let the Alphas elect who they might want in an advisory position? That saves a lot of shit coming back on the crown.”

Orion laughs “Very good points! Consider it done! See that you guys? My Senior advisor advised me and I followed his advice! See how it’s done?” Renata says “Dork!” And they all laughed!
