Chapter 7
Chapter 7
Irene’s POV
“Mate.”
I turned to look at Noah, and my heart trembled as I saw how bright his eyes had become. Even though he had eyes similar to Alek’s. I noticed that his eyes were more of green than gold.
And in this moment, I could see the green even more clearly as his eyes locked with mine.
But what was even more startling was the intense pull I felt towards him. Or rather, the pull from my wolf. It was like Liv wanted to be out from the confines of my skin and be with him.
“My mate,” she growled in my mind, and I felt like the world was spinning.
Noah was my mate?
Liv finally chose a mate, and she chose Noah.
One–click and I felt the heart–tearing pain of Liv being locked away from me.
My eyes snapped up, and I met Alek’s gaze. Only that, the emotions swirling in his amber eyes had me unable to talk.
“What’s going on?” He demanded and then moved his gaze to Noah.
Noah stood up.
“Why did you lock the power bind bracelet?” His eyes were stormy, and I could feel the anger that was radiating from him.
“Because the both of you seemed like you were about to tear each other apart right here,” Alek started, and then his gaze fell on me again.
“What’s happening?
Before I could reply, Noah stepped forward and stood in front of me.
“Irene is my mate,” there was something about his protective stance that made my heart sink, and I couldn’t even allow myself to remember just how good everything had felt a moment ago.
Just yesterday, I signed a contract that made me exclusive to the three of them. They had equal and complete rights over me.
And now. I had a fated mate bond with Noah?
Since when did Fated Mate become a thing again? As far as I knew, there was some fable regarding why the moon goddess had left us to choose our own mates and love interests.

So, why exactly was this happening?

Alek probably had a thousand thoughts running through his own mind because his jaws were clenched tight as he stared down at Noah.
“Step away. Noah,” Alek commanded.
Noah stood still for more than a second before stepping away and yielding to his brother.
“And what?” He asked, his amber eyes resting on me.
I took a deep breath as I struggled to form words to reply to him, “1.. I don’t know, but my wolf called him my mate.”
I felt a piercing gaze from behind me as I said that, and I turned to meet Elton’s icy cold blue eyes
“Your wolf sure has an expensive taste,” he said with a scoff and then stood up, his chair scraping the floor loudly.
“As long as the both of you break the contract, I don’t think you have any business with her wolf wanting mine,” Noah snarled in response.
Elton’s icy gaze moved to Noah for a second, and then, without another word, he stormed away.
At this point, I was already used to this scene. This had to be how he liked making his exit.
Or maybe it was just me.
But somehow, I could subtly feel that my being here was affecting the dynamic between the
brothers.
This couldn’t be how they were before I came.
With Elton gone, Alek’s stance eased up a little as he turned to look at Noah.
“I don’t know what you are thinking, but the contract isn’t changing. We are just going to find a way around this,” he nudged his head at us and then left, going in the same direction that Elton had just disappeared, but unlike the grumpy prince from before, Alek’s steps were more controlled and steady.
Noah sank into his seat as soon as it was just us, and I let out all of the breath that I didn’t know I was holding
“How could we be fated mates?” I mumbled, allowing my head to rest in my palms.
“There’s no way I’m wrong, Irene.”
“I felt that pull. It was like I needed to be one with you, that desperate urge to have you become mine and me become yours.” he paused and exhaled, his shoulders sagging.

“The only thing it can be is a mate bond.”
I nodded, knowing that he wasn’t lying. Liv had said the same thing.
“So what’s going to happen?” I asked as soon as Noah stood up.

From getting my wolf back to losing it immediately. And now, I wasn’t even sure if the plan of my going to school was still going to stand.
“Well, Alek just told me that I should take you to school with me, I’ll have to handle the registration process.
I stood up too, “that’s fine with me.”
I trudged behind Noah as we left the dining room.
Instead of taking the hallway to our left that I now knew led to the living quarters, he took a right turn and very quickly, we walked out of the palace.
Standing outside the palace, I sucked in air as 1 looked at the huge castle we had just come out from.
The White Castle had an ancient touch in its style that made it easy to tell that it had been around for a long time.
However, I could also tell that, although the castle had been around for a while, it had been maintained well and still looked every bit beautiful.
Like some kind of painting.
From outside, I could see the separate wings and all of the floors that I hadn’t even been able to explore.
A honk rang out right next to me, and I jumped, startled by the noise.
“We would miss the first two classes at this point,” Noah said from the car, and my brows raised as 1 looked at the bright red sports car in front of me.
“Where did the car come from?” I asked, looking around to see if there was a garage close by.
“I asked the valet to drive it out while we were on our way here,” he explained, and I nodded with understanding.
As I stared at the bustling streets of the Lycan Empire, my mind couldn’t help but wonder about the academy we were going.
Was it some school like the ones humans used to attend, or was it something that was tailored to our kind?
