Chapter 6
Chapter 6
Irene’s POV
Brenda and Julia were already standing by the foot of my bed when I woke up. If I didn’t have my wolf locked away by this goddamned bracelet, I would have sensed when they came in.
“Good morning, Lady Irene,” they greeted simultaneously, and I forced a smile back at them.
The thought that I was here as nothing more than a hostage. And that if anyone wanted to do anything to me, I would have to fight alone was enough to ruin my day.
“His Majesty’s assistant informed us to prepare you for breakfast in twenty. That way, we don’t disrupt his schedule,” Brenda informed me.
“Okay,” I mumbled and then stepped into the adjoining bathroom.
Unlike normal shifters who got their wolves at fifteen to sixteen, I had gotten my wolf for as long as I could remember.
I could remember it telling me to run when I was three and then telling me not to eat certain things when I was five.
Not having it right now when I was in a completely new place made me feel incomplete.
I rolled my eyes as I remembered Brenda’s instructions–the King’s schedule.
Why did his schedule have to include breakfast with me? I had no interest.
Especially if it was going to include that grumpy brother of his.
Although, I had to say that it was probably the moon goddess’s way of keeping the world’s balance.
Elton was beautiful. Alek and Noah had already crossed the boundaries of attractiveness, enough to make any girl’s heart race..
Yet, even with that, they paled beside Elton. His appearance was flawless. Seeing him once was all I needed to have a face like that stick to my mind for eternity.
:not
Every feature was carved and moulded to perfection, and if there so much darkness around him, I would have probably looked forward to spending my days just staring at him.
But he was one Devil.
I finished quickly and stepped out to see that Julia had already picked out a light dress for me.
Unlike what she chose yesterday, this was a lot more simple and other than it being skin–tight, I loved it.

In less than twenty minutes, both had my hair done, and I was ready to go downstairs.

“We were scolded for escorting you downstairs yesterday. We would not be escorting you to the dining room,” Brenda said with a small bow.
I turned to look at Julia and saw that she had a tight pout on, too. Brenda was not lying.
“That’s fine. I remember the way” if your life was always in constant danger and you barely had a roof over your head, the very least you could do was at least be good at remembering routes.
Without the two of them, I stepped out of the room and walked the entire way to the dining room. It was about three floors, but I felt a lot better after a good night’s sleep. I wasn’t panting when I stopped in front of the grand door.
“Good morning, Lady Irene,” the guards greeted in unison and opened the door.
The three of them were inside, and two pairs of eyes were on me as I walked inside.
“Irene,” Noah called out cheerfully and gave me a wink.
I flushed hard as I remembered his k*ss from last night. I was going to have my hands full with this
one.
However, I would pick Noah over the other two in a second. Okay, maybe not. Alek was a blank
slate.
I could tell he was domineering and used to being in control, but some part of me felt that there were several layers beneath all of that. Layers that might appeal to me.
“Good morning,” I greeted, and at the last moment, I decided not to use the curtsy that Brenda had spent two hours teaching me last night.
If Elton wasn’t here yet, I might have tried my hands at it. But the last thing I wanted to do was give him another chance to ridicule me.
Their seating arrangement was the same as yesterday, and I settled in the seat beside Noah.
“Did you sleep well?” Alek asked, with his ember eyes focused on me. I squirmed slightly and nodded.
“I did.”
“Thank…” Before I could complete my words, a gruff voice interrupted.
“Can we start eating?” Elton asked without raising his head.
Intentional or not, he had successfully ignored me since I entered here.
Alek nodded, and two men in apron stepped forward. I felt bad that I hadn’t noticed them behind. the pillars since I entered and as they served me.

“You would be starting at the academy today. From the information I have, you haven’t had any proper training on how to use your wolf and advantage over humans.”
While it was surprising to hear that, I don’t argue as I can quickly tell that my opinion didn’t matter much in this situation.
“Okay.”
“Your class would be determined using human education standards.”
“Although the Lycan Empire is secluded from the rest of the world, we cannot stay behind as the humans have more in numbers.”
That made a lot of sense, and I nodded repeatedly. While Alek was still doing all the brief talk on the academy, Elton had dived into his food, and from my side eye, I could see that Noah was already eating, too.
I arched my brows. Didn’t he have some schedule to keep up with?
“Don’t waste the teacher’s time. Just put her in the first class and see how well she would fail at it,” Elton said with a scoff that would have been hard to miss if I wasn’t paying attention.
Alek ignored him.
I did the same and started eating. Unlike yesterday, the tension was less, and I could enjoy the meal.
It was the best thing I had eaten my entire life, and I savoured every bite before swallowing.
Halfway into breakfast, Alek dropped his cutlery.
“Jonas, tell Sam to bring the key to her power lock,” he ordered, and a man dressed in all black, whom I had also not seen, stepped out and gave a curt bow.
I couldn’t help the anticipation and nerves that were coursing through me. Was he really going to unlock the power bind bracelet?
I was going to have my wolf back?
Before long, the doors opened, and the buff man who had picked me up yesterday walked in.
“Your Majesty,” he greeted with a bow at Alek and then turned to Elton, “Master.”
Another bow.
My brows raised. This man worked for Elton? At the very least, he had been polite and a lot more warm than his master when I met him.
Sam brought out a small box from his pocket and placed it on the table.
After that, Sam and Jonas, who had stepped out previously, stepped out of the room.

Alek stood up.
G
and I got another reminder of just how tall he was.
He walked to where I was and leaned in to hold my wrist.
My nose flared as I got a close whiff of his cologne. I don’t know what it’s mixed with, but it smelled like royalty. Strong and alluring.
“Take a deep breath, I would not want your wolf jumping out here,” Alek instructed, and the key met with the bracelet.
I took a deep breath.
Welcome, Liv.
I sucked in air as I felt the bind break, and my wolf, Liv, was back with me.
“Damn, feels good to be free.” Liv said with a dramatic sigh, and I smiled. I closed my eyes, soaking up this moment.
However, my brows knitted as I felt a tug from Liv.
“He’s here!” She exclaimed, and my brows knitted.
“Who?”
Before she could reply, I heard a growl from beside me, “Mate.”
