Convenient Marriage: Mr. Nelson's Love Trap

Chapter 16: Information about Her

The man Matthew had seen hugging Dolores the other day was the one in front of him. Who else could be the father of Dolores’s
baby other than him?
Sampson felt so bad for Dolores and couldn’t help thinking that if she sought him out on the day of the car accident, she wouldn’t
be in so much now.
Seeing Sampson’s expression, Matthew thought Sampson was admiting his guilt with his silence.
Matthew sneered, “She’s very young...”
“What do you know!” Sampson shouted suddenly.
His eyes were a little red. He knew what Matthew wanted to say. Matthew must think Dolores was a slut, because she got
pregnant at such a young age. But Matthew did not know what Dolores had been through.
Sampson glanced at Matthew’s suit, one that was extremely expensive. Sampson couldn’t help thinking that suit would pay an
ordinary worker’s salary for a year.
“You’re from a powerful, rich family. Have you ever suffer from poverty? Do you even know what it feels like to have no money,
no food? Have you ever felt overwhelming helplessness? You don’t know! You don’t know what she’s done to survive till now...”
Dolores grabbed Sampson’s hand and shook her head to tell him to stop. She didn’t need sympathy or pity from anyone. She
just wanted to survive and take good care of her mom and her baby.
“Take me to the hospital.” Dolores couldn’t bear the pain anymore.
“OK.” Sampson bent over and held her in his arms.
Seeing that he was still taken aback by what Sampson said, Dolores felt uncomfortable. She spoke as if she was also surprised
by what Sampson said.
“Sorry, I can’t stop working. But I can assure you I will tell no one about it. I won’t do anything to bring shame to you or your
family.”
Matthew frowned. Then he looked at Dolores’s face and didn’t know what to feel.

No one knew better than Sampson about Dolores’s situation. Dolores was in Sampson’s arms and her whole body shook while
talking to Matthew.
Sampson carried her to the car and spoke gently. “Don’t be afraid. There’s no blood. You’ll be fine.”
Sampson drove as fast as possible to the hospital.
Staring at the car driving away, Matthew couldn’t help thinking about what Sampson said and wondered what sort of secret
Dolores was keeping from him. Dolores did act weirdly.
To find out what was going on, Matthew took out his cell phone and gave Abbott a call. “I want you to look into Dolores for me.”
“Anything specific?”
“Everything,” Matthew said, hanging up immediately.
“Matthew.” Helen ran out of the restaurant and immediately pulled him close. “Are you still angry with me for not letting Dolores
join the company? I know I was wrong. I just love you too much...”
“No. let’s go back.”
There were no emotions in Matthew’s voice or expression, which made Helen feel unease somehow. She couldn’t help
wondering who he had just called?

In the hospital,
Dolores was rolled to the operating room while Sampson waited outside. He was uneasy and kept checking the operating room
through the small window.
About an hour later, the door of the operating room opened and Dolores was rolled out.
Sampson hurriedly stepped forward. “How is she?”
The doctor took off their mask and gave a small smile. “Because of overwork, she was close to a miscarriage. She’s fine now but
she needs to rest more, otherwise, she may not be so lucky next time.”

“I understand,” Sampson said, and wheeled Dolores into the recovery ward.
Dolores looked at Sampson and spoke in a sincere tone. “Thank you for always helping me.” Dolores appreciated Sampson for
always helping when needed.
“It’s ok as long as you are fine.” Sampson gave her the gentle smile he always had.
“You paid my hospital bill for me. I’m sorry, I don’t have money to pay back yet,” Dolores said, biting her dry lips.
“Don't talk about that now, you need to rest.”
Sampson didn't like her treating him so politely, as if he were nothing more than a stranger.
Entering the ward, Dolores looked at him. “Can you please call my mother to come and see me?” She didn’t want to cause
Sampson too much trouble.
Sampson thought Dolores missed Jessica. After all, when people were vulnerable, they always wanted their relatives by their
side.
He took out his cell phone and called Jessica, telling her Dolores was in the hospital and asked her to come over.
When Jessica heard this, she said in a panic, “What's wrong with Lola?”
“She is okay. She just needs to rest more. She wants to see you.”
Hearing that, Jessica sighed in relief and headed to the hospital as fast as possible.
Once Jessica arrived, Dolores asked Sampson to go home.
“Yes, I’m sorry for causing you trouble.” Jessica apologized sincerely.
“It’s okay. I’ll go back now and see you tomorrow.” Sampson looked at her. “Make sure to rest.”
“Thank you.”
As soon as Sampson left, Jessica sat on the bedside and covered Dolores with a quilt. “Do you want to eat something?”
Dolores shook her head, her skin still pale and clammy.

Looking at Dolores, Jessica’s heart filled with sorrow. “You could have a wonderful future. But you dropped out of college
because of me. And now...”
Thinking of the child in Dolores’ belly, Jessica felt so sad her heart ached. “You said you got pregnant in A Country . Will the child
just look different than us?”
Jessica worried the man Dolores slept with that night was a local.
“No matter what he looks like, he’s still my baby, your grandson .” Dolores didn’t want to think about that night. After all, it wasn’t
a good night for her.
“A Country ?” Matthew came to the hospital to visit Dolores. He wanted to knock on the door, but then heard Jessica talking to
Dolores inside, so he changed his mind.
“Well, it doesn’t matter what he looks like, he’s still my grandson,” Jessica said, wanting to drop the subject.
As long as Dolores was happy, Jessica was willing to follow her wish and take care of her. Jessica couldn’t help thinking that
maybe she and the baby meant to be a family. After all, Dolores got pregnant after only one night of being with that man.
Jessica touched Dolores’ forehead and tried to fight off her sorrow. “My Lola, you have to suffer too much because of me.”
“So she kept the baby?”
Dolores was becoming even more mysterious to Matthew. At the hospital that day, he saw her enter the operating room.
Seeing Dolores and Jessica still talking, Matthew didn’t want to bother them. He turned and walked away.
As he reached the entrance of the hospital, the cell phone in his pocket rang. He took it out and saw Abbott’s name on the
screen. He answered it.
“I have the information on Dolores you requested.”
