Chapter 1905
Vera clenched her teeth, making a desperate decision.
She moved closer to Caleb, taking the initiative to grab his hand, her sincerity clear. "Caleb, look at me. I'm not as bad as you think. Whether it's real or fake, I can do it."
Without responding to her plea, Caleb coldly threw out a single sentence, "You can sleep in the car tonight."
Then, without a backward glance, he pulled the car door open and left.
Watching his retreating figure, Vera felt as though an invisible hand was squeezing her heart tightly. She had never imagined that her life would come to this point.

Later that night, Caleb was woken by a call from Luna.
Through the phone, Luna's voice was laced with pain. "Caleb, can you come over? My stomach hurts... really badly...
Her words were like a hook, sinking deep into Caleb's heart.
He loved Luna and couldn't bear to see her in pain or distress. Yet, he forced himself to remain clear- headed.
"Isn't Simon with you? Call him," Caleb said coldly.
"Caleb, Simon's with his daughter right now, and you're a doctor-a professional. I'm in no condition to go to the hospital. Please, I'm begging you..."
The sound of something shattering came from her end of the line.
As much as Caleb wanted to refuse, the doctor in him couldn't ignore a cry for help. He sighed, knowing he would go to her.
When Caleb reached the car, he was surprised to find Vera slumped over the steering wheel, fast asleep. His expression darkened as he knocked on the window. "What's wrong with you? Why aren't you sleeping in the back seat?"
Startled awake by the noise, Vera opened her eyes. Seeing Caleb, she reflexively got out of the car.
The cool night breeze hit her, and she fully woke up, noticing Caleb was still dressed in casual black loungewear. She hesitated, unsure of what to say, realizing that Caleb had come out at such a late hour.
Before she could speak, Caleb shot her a glance and said, "Come with me. I need to take care of something. Afterward, I'll drop you off at the hospital."
It was clear Caleb wasn't remotely interested in her. Even when she suggested a fake relationship, he hadn't entertained the thought for a second.
Vera, however wasn't ready to give
up. If necessary, she would follow Mr. Smith's advice and make things messy enough to ensure Caleb stayed by her side. The process didn't matter as long as the outcome was what she needed.
Grabbing the sleeve of his shirt, Vera pleaded, "Caleb, it's late. Don't send me back now."
"I'm leaving to handle something. If you don't want to come, stay here until morning and leave then," Caleb replied curtly, not in the mood to argue.
Vera hadn't expected him to snap at her like that. She wanted to build a connection with Caleb, and any chance to spend time with him was an opportunity she couldn't waste.
"Let me drive," she offered, trying to earn his favor.
Caleb glanced at her but spoke coolly. "Either sit in the passenger seat or the back."
He was heading to Luna's, and Vera didn't even know the way. He needed to get there as quickly as possible.
Seeing his resolve, Vera didn't argue and climbed into the passenger seat.
What she didn't expect was that Caleb drove them into an upscale neighborhood. As he parked and turned off the engine, he said, "There's a first aid kit in the trunk. Bring it and follow me."
"Okay."
Though shocked, Vera didn't hesitate. She retrieved the first aid kit from the trunk and trailed after Caleb
as he strode purposefully ahead.
