Chapter 1170
Nina thought for a moment before adding, "Don't worry, I'll settle this score for you. If they dare to mess with you, they're messing with me. I refuse to believe Winona can cause that much trouble here in Birkham."
Yvonne felt comforted by Nina's support and hugged her tightly, whispering multiple thank-yous. No matter how many times she said it, she couldn't express her full gratitude. Right now, the only thing she could give Nina was her heartfelt thanks.
Now that they knew Winona was behind the sabotage of the art exhibit, Nina decided it was time to stop being passive. After leaving Yvonne's room, she went straight to Nash and shared her plan to gather evidence and present it to the investors so they would go after Winona instead.
But Nash shook his head. "Gathering evidence will take too long. The investors won't give Yvonne the time she needs, considering the scale of their losses. We need to make the enemy confess."
"You've got a plan?" Nina asked with a knowing smile, sensing that Nash had already thought of something.
He nodded and, with a sly grin, beckoned her closer with a finger. Nina leaned in, expecting to hear the plan, but instead, Nash kissed her cheek.
Caught off guard by the sudden kiss, Nina blushed and gave him a playful glare.
"What? Can't a husband steal a little affection?" he teased.
"You can, but that's not enough. Let me return the favor," Nina laughed softly as she sat on his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck and blowing lightly in his ear.
Nash groaned softly, stopping her with a warning tone. "Don't play with fire. You won't be able to handle the consequences."
"How do you know I can't handle it?" Nina teased back, raising her eyebrows.
Nash frowned slightly. "You're pregnant."
Nina giggled. "Pregnant women can't flirt with their husbands?"
Nash was left speechless. How could he explain just how difficult she was making things for him, and how many cold showers he would have to take to cool down? Deciding to say nothing, he leaned in to kiss the side of her neck. Nina squirmed and quickly gave in. "Stop, it tickles! I surrender..."
Nash chuckled, pressing a light kiss to the tip of her nose. "Go get some rest. I need to make a call."
Nina understood. It was time to take action. Without further teasing, she nodded obediently and left the study.
Meanwhile, news about the failed art exhibit continued to spread like wildfire online. Although Yvonne had refunded tickets immediately, it hadn't stopped the wave of public backlash.
Late one night, someone even
smashed the windows of another art
exhibit. Several of the paintings in the galley had been deliberately vandalized, and scrawled in large red letters on the wall were the words, "You deserve to die, you troublemaker."
Yvonne stood frozen in front of the writing, her face growing paler by the second. Even if she were naïve she wouldn't need much convincing to realize who was behind this Only Winona had ever called her the root of all evil. If it wasn't her, who else could it be?
But why destroy her work like this? Wouldn't that also indirectly tarnish Joe's reputation? "Why is she doing this?" Yvonne's voice trembled as she fought back tears.
"Who? Do you know who's responsible for all this?" a familiar voice broke her thoughts. It was Nigel.
Yvonne quickly wiped her tears and forced a smile. "Mr. Gibson, what brings you here?"
As she spoke, Yvonne glanced around, searching for Nina and Nash. She spotted them inspecting the shattered glass and finally let out a breath of relief.
Noticing her reaction, Nigel sighed.
"You don't need to worry about me,
Yvonne. I'm not going to hurt you.
Trust me, even if I wantedet
something, I'd ask for your

permission first. I'm not reckless."
"Thank you for respecting me," Yvonne said with a small, grateful smile.
