Chapter 19
Chapter 19 Please Don’t Harm Him
Simply, Wren shut up and stopped persuading.
In the end, she just said, “Zachary, Layla is very worried about you. She just called me, and she will be back soon. If you are hungry, go downstairs to buy something by yourself. Or, wait for her to bring food back.”
After Wren finished speaking, she went downstairs.
Zachary watched Wren go downstairs and then went inside. Sitting on a faded stool and staring at the door, he waited for Layla.
On the other side, Layla curled up in the corner of the sofa, staring blankly at the mobile silent phone on the coffee table.
Wesley lit a cigarette, with smoke lingering between his fingers. He tilted his head. At the sight of Layla’s ashen face, he moved his lips but said nothing.
He just took a deep puff of the cigarette between his fingers. The room was eerily quiet.
He wasn’t sure if it was an illusion, but looking at Layla’s lifeless face, he felt… He felt that he was about to lose control of Layla.
Wesley buttoned up his shirt, leaned over, and kissed her on the lips. “Layla, next time you disobey me, the price you pay will be Zachary’s leg or even his life.”
She knew that he could always do what he said, so she begged him in a hoarse voice, “I was wrong. I will never disobey you again. Please, please don’t harm him.”
When Wesley saw her like this, the uncomfortable feeling that was stuck in his heart just now disappeared.
He pointed to his lips, and Layla obediently kissed him immediately.
Wesley bent over, supported the sofa with one hand, and clasped the back of her head with the other, deepening the kiss.
He didn’t stop until his phone rang.
In front of Layla, he pressed the answer button without scruples.
Amy’s gentle voice came from the other end of the phone. “Wesley, where are you? I want to see you now.”
The shadow of his burly figure enveloped Layla. He was answering the phone, but his eyes were fixed on Layla. “Now?”
“Yes.” Amy’s pleasant voice came again. “You will become my fiancé soon. I want to see you now. Can’t I?”
Wesley looked at the time. “It’s already eleven o’clock.”
“I know.” Amy’s voice was a bit coquettish. “But I want to see you now. Do you want to come see me?”
“Where are you?”
“I’m at home,” Amy said. Then, she added, “I bought an
in Triumph Group in Azure City, and I live alone. Come to my apartment and spend the night with me tonight.”
Amy’s hint was already very obvious. Wesley looked down at Layla and saw that she was still obedient and as quiet as a doll as
ever.
He frowned a little but quickly recovered. “Okay, send me your door number, and I’ll be over in a while.”
“Okay. I’ll wait for you.”
Wesley hung up the phone, glanced at Layla, and turned away.
After Wesley left, Layla endured the pain and dressed herself up as quickly as possible.
Thinking of what Zachary had said on the other end of the phone, she rushed home like crazy.
When she got home and stood at the door, she was stunned. The apartment was pitch black, but the door was wide open.
“Zachary.”
She walked into the apartment cautiously and reached out to turn on the light, but there was a faint light in the living room.
That was Zachary.
