Chapter Benson 33
Chapter 33 No Trust
“I don’t trust you either,” Yvonne said coldly, her voice tinged with distance. Her heart was filled with complex emotions–anger, disappointment, and a hint of unnoticed sadness.
The lack of trust between a couple was a bitter joke
Yvonne felt a deep sense of loneliness and helplessness,
Benson was unhurried. He slowly took a cigarette from his pocket, lit it, and took a deep drag..
Through the smoke, his expression was somewhat blurred, but his eyes revealed a hint of amusement and provocation.
“Let’s talk when you can trust me,” Benson said lightly, as if this were all just a game and he had already seen through its rules.
Yvonne e wanted to kick him to death. Her heart was full of anger and unwillingness, but she knew Benson held her weakness–the brooch–leaving her powerless to resist.
She took a deep breath, trying to calm her emotions, then spoke slowly, “I have another
way”
Her voice carried determination and resolve. She decided not to passively accept everything but to fight for a chance for herself.
When Matthew stepped into the villa at 6 Wutong Road, he immediately felt the tension and unease in the air.
Entering the living room, he saw Benson sitting leisurely on a light brown sofa, legs crossed, a cigarette in his hand. The smoke swirled around him, blurring his features.
A noticeable scratch marked Benson’s neck, stark under the light, silently telling a story.
Yvonne sat in a single armchair opposite him, arms crossed, her expression hard and eyes. full of vigilance and displeasure.
The atmosphere in the room was extremely strange, like an invisible standoff was taking place.
“You, take this to Marcus,” Benson’s voice broke the silence. He took out a delicate brooch box from his pocket and handed it to Matthew.
Matthew took the brooch bog, looking puzzled “Isn’t this for your sister–in–law? Why give it to Marcus?” His voice was full of confusion.
“Just do as I say!” Benson’s voice was cold and commanding, leaving no room for doubt. Matthew had no choice but to comply, though his mind was full of questions.
He couldn’t help but wonder if he had been called here just to deliver the repaired brooch
to Marcus. The reasoning behind this left him baffled.
“After you give it to Marcus, have him call your sister–in–law,” Benson emphasized the words “sister–in–law,” as if trying to make a point.
After Matthew left, Benson looked sharply at Yvonne through the smoke.
Yvonne’s plan, though displeasing, at least resolved the immediate deadlock.
“Satisfied?” Benson asked with a hint of sarcasm.
Yvonne’s eyelashes fluttered slightly. She lifted her head, meeting Benson’s eyes with a calm and firm voice, “Very satisfied.”
Benson snorted. His eyes roved over Yvonne, filled with scrutiny and challenge. “I hope you can make me satisfied later,” he said with a subtle hint of expectation.
Yvonne didn’t respond. She turned her head, avoiding Benson’s gaze.
The room fell silent again.
Time passed slowly in the silence. It would take at least half an hour for Matthew to reach Marcus.
During that half–hour, Benson and Yvonne remained motionless like statues, maintaining their positions. Their faces showed no smiles, only coldness and opposition, like two icebergs silently clashing.
Finally, Yvonne’s phone broke the stiff atmosphere, its ringtone piercing the empty room.
Yvonne felt a cold gaze fixed on her, making her uncomfortable.
Ignoring Benson’s stare, she gently answered the call, “Hello, Marcus.”
Marcus’s warm voice came through, “Yvonne, are you free tomorrow? I’ll bring the brooch to you.”
Hearing Marcus’s voice, Yvonne felt a sudden surge of grievance. She couldn’t help but think of all the entanglements with Benson and how things had come to this.
Her voice trembled slightly, “Tomorrow evening after work. I’ll treat you to dinner.”
Listening to Yvonne’s gentle invitation to another man for dinner, Benson’s anger flared up like a wildfire, quickly spreading.
His eyes grew sharper, as if he wanted to see through Yvonne.
He suddenly stood up and strode towards Yvonne, pinning her against the armchair.
Yvonne felt a wave of pressure. She gasped and hurriedly said into the phone, “Marcus, Jet’s talk later. I have to go.”
Benson raised an eyebrow, a cold smile on his lips. He lightly brushed ve
his fingers, his voice taunting, “Keen tall
Chapter 3
Yvonne felt a wave of helplessness. She knew Benson’s anger was uncontrollable.
She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and tried to calm herself.
However, Benson’s presence grew closer, his gaze full of possessiveness and anger, making Yvonne feel unprecedented pressure.
“Benson, calm down,” Yvonne’s voice trembled. She tried to push Benson away, but his strength left her unable to move.
“Calm down?” Benson’s voice was mocking, “You invite another man to dinner in front of me. How can I calm down?”
Ignoring the discomfort from Benson’s touch, Yvonne’s gaze was firm and resolute as she met his eyes.
At that moment, her heart was filled with complex emotions. She knew her actions could be misunderstood, but she couldn’t care less.
She slowly leaned towards Benson and kissed him.
The kiss carried a sense of despair and helplessness, silently conveying her inner struggle. Benson was stunned by Yvonne’s action. He lowered his eyes, unsure how to react.
Just then, Yvonne’s phone rang again, breaking the silence between them.
The ringtone echoed in the empty room, startling Yvonne.
Benson quickly reacted. He reached for Yvonne’s phone, glanced at the screen, and his voice turned cold, “It’s Marcus.”
Yvonne felt dizzy, her heart racing. She desperately wanted to get her phone back, but Benson held it out of reach.
Her eyes filled with pleading as she silently begged Benson not to answer.
But as she lowered her head, she heard Benson coldly say, “Hello?” Yvonne’s heart sank instantly.
