“Serena?” Carla calls as she tries to open the door.

“Wait, she’s right behind the door,” Daniel says.

“How do you…Oh right, wolf senses” She sighs.

“Serena let us in,” Daniel says softly.

I shuffle out of the way but stay on the floor, knees to my chest.

“Come in” I call out as they slowly make their way in.

“Oh Serena,” Carla says as she gets on the floor beside me and hugs me tightly.

“He was so nice about everything…” I cry.

“Of course he was, you made a huge decision which gave him the second chance at life he never would have got before. Serena, you always risk everything you have for others and never think about yourself. We’re all so lucky to have you in our lives, you are a beautiful, strong, and smart woman who is the alpha to a wolf pack. You’ve been through so much and yet you keep going, you’re so brave Serena and I’m so glad you’re my best friend, because I couldn’t picture a day without you” Carla says as I burst into tears in her arms.

“What she said” Daniel added as we both burst into laughter through the tears.

“What she said…Seriously, that’s the best you could come up with” Carla raises a brow.

“I can hardly think straight with you right now Carla, give me a break” He smirks at her.

“Oh for god sake” I groan as Carla giggles.

“Can we have our happy Serena back now?” She asks.

“I’ll try my best, I promise” I give a small smile.

“Great, so pack run tonight?” Daniel grins.

“Ok fine” I answer.

“Can I come?” Carla bounces excitedly.

“You can ride me,” Daniel says wiggling his brows suggestively.

“I like the sound of that” She smirks, winking.

“OUT!” I laugh pointing to the door.

“Fine, we’re heading to the packhouse, you better be ready for that run Serena!” Daniel lifts Carla into his arms and over his shoulder as he smacks her ass as she giggles, waving as they leave.

“Oliver, Liv, ready the pack for a run tonight” I link to them as I feel their excitement.

“You’re coming back?!” Liv answers.

“Yes, I’m coming back” I answer as I almost feel her jumping up and down in excitement again.

“About time you came back to us properly, the pack isn’t the same without you,” Oliver adds.

“I know, I’m sorry” I reply.

“Alex is wandering around like a lost puppy around here, it’s so weird, he was this big bad, scary wolf and now he’s wandering around aimlessly,” Liv said as she began gossiping about the pack.

“Where is he now?” I ask.

“Walking the perimeter. Why?” Oliver asks.

“Because I need to check on my pack members and if he’s not himself then I should check on him first” I reply.

“Vance, do you need me downstairs?” I ask via our link.

“No, we’ll be fine down here, is everything alright up there?” he replies.

“I need to do something,” I say as I head down the stairs.

“Then go, we’ll see you later for the run” He answers as I head out to the woods and shift, running off quickly to the pack border, sniffing the air to find Alex.

It didn’t take long for me to find him as he was walking slowly through the trees, barely noticing what was going on around him. I had never seen him like this before.

“You know to actually patrol the borders you have to pay attention to your surroundings right? I could have taken you down by now” I smirk shifting back to my human form, leaning against a tree as he shifts in surprise.

“I knew you were there,” he says as I raise a brow in disbelief.

“Did you really?” I scoff.

“Fine, no I didn’t, I’m a little distracted right now” He sighs coming closer slowly, his gaze not raising from the ground.

“Oh really, by what?” I ask.

“A girl” He mumbles.

“A girl…Anyone in particular? Is she your mate perhaps?” I ask as my wolf seems to get excited at the thought of a mate.

“She might be, I haven’t seen her in a while to be sure. She’s amazing, strong, beautiful, pretty fierce warrior too” He says as he stops a foot away from me.

Tingles run up and down my arms as I watch him shift from foot to foot.

“So why haven’t you seen her?” I ask.

“She’s had a rough time. But I also think she’s avoiding me” He sighs turning around.

“Alex look at me,” I ask him quietly as he slowly turns to face me.

Our eyes focus on each other as I felt that familiar tingle run throughout my body with a fierce amount of power.

MATE! My wolf yips excitedly.

“She must be so sorry that she’s avoided you for so long” I murmur.

“I’d forgive her, I’d do anything for her,” He says as he steps closer, his fingers grazing my arm as my eyes close at the feelings rushing through my body.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t know how to deal with anything, I just ran from it all. From you, my responsibilities, my pack” I bite my lip nervously.

“You’re back, you’re here, no one blames you for how you reacted, you’ve been through so much.” His hand comes up to my face as he cups my cheek while I nuzzle into it.

“What turned you into such a sap?” I smile as he growls dominantly at me.

“I guess having a mate changes a guy, I could still kick your ass though” He growls playfully as he pins me to the tree.

“That scar of yours says otherwise” I smirk as my hand grazes his shoulder to his collarbone.

“I let you win that” He scoffs.

“Is that right? I doubt it” I roll my eyes.

“We can have a rematch if you like. I’ll show you who’s boss” He smirks cockily.

“I’m the boss of this pack Alex, don’t forget that” I smirk back.

“You might dominate as the alpha of the pack, but right here, right now, you’re mine to dominate” He says lustfully.

“Is that so?” I look into his eyes as his body pressed against me while I try not to moan.

“Mate” He growls before he cups my face, our lips crashing together as we fight for dominance, he lifts me up, my legs wrapping around his torso, electric running through our veins as the mate bond begins to bind us.

“If we don’t stop now, we won’t stop ever” I moan against him as he nips at my neck, I could feel it, the need to bite, to claim each other.

“I won’t claim you now, but make no mistake, you are my mate Serena, and nothing will ever take you away from me. When I mate with you, it will be perfect” He smiles as his lips meet mine again.

Alex’s deep brown eyes swirled with the mating bond as he kept me in his huge arms. This guy was a mountain of a man, and I really hadn’t realised just how big he was. Tattoos covered his arms as my fingers grazed over them, tracing each line as we just stayed pressed against the tree, kissing with a newfound passion.

“Daniel stop!” I heard Carla giggle in the trees as I raised a brow at Alex as I sat in his lap at the bottom of a tree, my eyes surveyed the area before I spotted them a little way off.

“How have they not noticed us?” I ask through our link.

“Shall we test them? See how long it takes for them to realise” He smirks as he lifts us quietly, a finger to his lips as he shifts. I follow him, shifting as we creep through the trees, they still hadn’t noticed us.

What the hell…Daniel needed some training… It was fair enough that Carla didn’t notice, she was human, but Daniel should have noticed us, a scent of us at least.

“Oh god, yes!” Carla screamed out as I went wide-eyed as Alex laughed through our link.

“I think they might be mating you know” He says as I roll my eyes.

“Carla! Oh…Shit…I…Shit! Stop! Someone’s out there!” Daniel cries out as we get closer, stood just behind the tree they sat behind.

I howled loudly as I heard Carla scream and then rush to put their clothes back on, walking around the tree with a scowl.

“SERENA!” Daniel groans at me as I shift.

“You truly are getting the full experience Carla, mating with a wolf in the forest” I giggle as she blushes.

“Why are you creeping in the forest? Who is that?” She points to Alex as he comes to my side, nuzzling into me as my hand caresses his head.

“We were here first. It’s not my fault your man can’t seem to sense another wolf close by. I’m not impressed, Daniel. Guess who it is” I smile at Carla cheekily after frowning at Daniel as he looks at me sheepishly.

“Oh my god, it’s your new mate!” Carla squeals.

“Yep” I answer.

“I wondered how long it would take” Daniel smiles at me.

“You knew!” Carla smacks his arm.

“Of course I knew, I’m not stupid” he rolls his eyes.

“Don’t roll your eyes” Carla and I say at the same time before giggling.

“I can’t work out who it is though, I don’t have wolf senses and I don’t know every wolf yet” Carla huffs as Daniel smiles, wrapping his arms around her body, nipping at her neck.

“I think we should put the girl out of her misery don’t you” I smirk at Alex, but he shakes his head, he was enjoying himself too much.

“Oh come on! Daniel knows!” She huffs again.

“Only because he’s a wolf” I smile.

“Please!” She begs.

“Keep her guessing, see how long it takes for her to guess,” Alex says.

“You’re cruel” I smirk.

“What did he say?” She crosses her arms angrily.

“That we should wait and see how long it takes for you to guess”

“I give it an hour, you two don’t keep secrets,” Daniel says.

“I give it at least six, I’ve gotten better” I smirk.

“I give it five minutes,” Alex says.

“Five minutes…Why five minutes?” I ask as I hear Daniel chuckle.

“Because you’ll tell her, she’s your best friend, she’ll worm it out of you” He grins, baring his teeth as he nuzzles into me rubbing his scent on me and then runs off.

“So, who is it?” Carla slinks up beside me.

“NO! Not telling you!” I laugh as I begin walking the same way towards the house as Alex did.

“Come on! You used to tell me everything! I can’t believe you never told me this!”

“ALPHA!” Liv squeals happily as we get closer to the packhouse.

“Hey, Liv” I smile as she hugs me tightly.

“Did you find him? Did you find…” I put my hand over her mouth as Carla was listening intently.

“Hold on! SHE KNOWS!” Carla exclaims.

“Parts” I shrug.

“What do I know parts of?” Liv asks through the link.

“I have a new mate… Carla has seen his wolf and doesn’t know who it is by sight yet, she’s got to guess” I smile at her.

“ALEX IS YOUR MATE!” She screams through the link as I wince, and she apologises.

“Yes, but shh” I put a finger to my lips.

“This is so not fair” Carla huffs as Daniel sniggers behind her.

“Alpha, good to have you back” Alex walks by, nodding to me before walking off towards one of the other packhouses in the field.

“Playing it cool I see,” I say through our bond.

“She really has no idea does she” I can feel his amusement through the bond.

“Not a clue” I reply.

“Have you seen my brother Liv?” Daniel asks.

“Yeah, he’s in the house with Craig and Lucien” She points behind her.

“Come on, you can ponder her new mate from the house” Daniel drags Carla with him.

“Well I can rule out quite a few of you, it’s not Craig, David, Lucien or you. Oliver…Maybe…Alex…No way…” She mutters to herself as I hold in a giggle, as she instantly rejected the idea that Alex could be my mate.

“I’m going to win this,” I say in a sing-song voice to him through the link.

“She still has no idea?” He replies.

“She’s ruling people out and apparently it’s no way you” I snigger.

“What do you mean? Why couldn’t it be me?” Alex growls as he sneaks up beside us.

“You’d have to ask her” I shrug.

“I will” He says heading to the house.

“Wait! You’ll spoil the fun!” I call out as Liv and I follow behind him.

“Hey Alex! You’re looking better. Cupcake!” Lucien says as he stands to attention at our arrival, hugging me tightly.

“So, I hear you’re trying to guess Serena’s new mate. Any ideas yet?” Alex says to Carla.

“New mate?” Craig raises a brow.

“Yeah, it was a shock to me too,” I said as he nods before giving me a sweet smile.

“Well, it’s not you…” Carla begins as I listen in.

“Why couldn’t it be me?” He raises a brow.

“You’re so, so, rogue, brutish, a man who submits to no one,” She says as I burst into laughter.

“I can guarantee I wouldn’t submit to my mate, it’s all about dominance in the bedroom” He winks at her, she blushes, as I struggle not to moan, feeling my knickers moisten at his words.

“Yeah, it’s not you” Carla shakes her head as I look at her with an amused smile.

Lucien seems to sniff the air as he glances between us, brow raised.

“Oh you have got to be kidding me cupcake” He says through the link.

“Don’t say a word to Carla, we’re seeing how long it takes her to guess” I smirk as he rolls his eyes.

“I can smell your arousal from here Serena, calm yourself,” Alex says via the link as he sits beside Daniel and Craig.

“Does everyone in this room know who it is?” Carla asks.

“Yeah” They all nod.

“Stupid wolf senses” She grumbles.

“We could always turn you and then you’d be one of us,” Daniel says jovially.

“Could we?!” She says excitedly. Daniel looked shocked, I don’t think he realised just how much she loved our lifestyle, she dreamed of being a wolf.

“I…Well…Would you really want to?” He stammers.

“Yes!” She grins.

“It’s dangerous though,” Lucien says.

“Less so if an alpha does it” Alex looks to me.

“Would you do it, Serena?” Carla asks, bouncing in her seat.

“You seriously want this?” I ask.

“Yes, I really do” She answers.

“Ok, I will do it” I nod, and she jumps up, hugging me tightly.

“When?” She asks.

“It’s better on a full moon, next one is a few days away,” Lucien says.

“You need to teach me how to do it, Lucien, I don’t want a single thing to go wrong,” I say.

“It won’t go wrong” Alex urges with a smile.

I smell something strange coming from outside as my gaze goes to the front door. Something was wrong.
