After the Divorce: Crushed on My Lawyer Ex-wife

Chapter 234 by GloryWrites

#234 “Now I Want to Call Her My Wife.”

Alexander had dropped Sophia off at work and had just arrived at his office.

Things were much calmer now. Alexander hoped that after a few more interviews with reporters, everything could soon return to its usual rhythm of work.

It was more fun for him to watch the reporters tear his father apart now that they had aired a clip of his dinner with Caroline.

Alexander sat down at his desk, but before diving into his work, he wanted to make an important call. He picked up his phone and dialed Kyle.

“Hello, Alexander. Great performance, my friend. Last night’s press conference was wonderful,” Kyle greeted him with evident enthusiasm.

Alexander chuckled at his friend’s spirited reaction. “I’m glad it’s over. You’re back from your honeymoon already, aren’t you?”

“Two days ago. I still can’t bring myself to work, only romantic moments are in my head,” Kyle replied, his voice filled with a hint of whimsy.

“I can imagine,” Alexander laughed, finding joy in his friend’s happiness.

“But congratulations to you and Sophia. You really handled the reporters well. You have an amazing girlfriend,” Kyle continued.

“That’s actually why I’m calling you. I don’t like calling her my girlfriend anymore,” Alexander admitted.

“What?” Kyle sounded puzzled. “After all you’ve been through?”

“Exactly. Now I want to call her my wife,” Alexander revealed with a tone of resolve.

A shrill scream was heard on the other end of the receiver, and Alexander had to pull the phone away from his ear.

“Is he going to propose to her?” he heard Evelyn shout in the background.

“I forgot to tell you that you’re on speakerphone and Evelyn is in the room,” Kyle laughed, clearly amused by the situation.

“Wonderful. You two are exactly what I need. I want to propose to her and I will need your help,” Alexander declared, his voice filled with determination and excitement.

Another happy squeal came from Evelyn.

“Sure, whatever you need,” Kyle responded, his voice now matching the enthusiasm of his wife.

“Alexander, I’ll get right to it,” said Evelyn, eagerly jumping into the planning phase.

After hanging up the phone Alexander returned his focus to the stack of documents awaiting his attention. He was immersed in his work, the steady rhythm of productivity enveloping him once more. However, about an hour later, his concentration was shattered by the sound of his office door swinging open with a decisive bang.

He looked up, startled, only to see Evelyn striding in with purpose, a massive notebook clutched in her arms. Alexander couldn’t help but laugh at the sight-Evelyn, always enthusiastic and ever-prepared, seemed to embody the spirit of every great event planner he’d ever seen.

Evelyn noticed his amusement but didn’t miss a beat. She flopped into the chair next to his desk, the notebook landing with a thud. “Okay, let’s get to work. You need the perfect proposal, and I have ideas!”

Alexander shook his head, still smiling. “I see you’re taking no prisoners today, Evelyn.”

“Absolutely not! This is serious business.” She flipped open the notebook, revealing pages and pages of notes, sketches, and clippings. “So, first things first-we need to nail down the venue. The gallery is a given, but we need to decide on the exact spot. How about right in front of her favorite painting?”

“That sounds good, but I was thinking of something more personal,”

Alexander said, leaning in to look at the pictures Evelyn had brought. “I was thinking of proposing at the villa. She had always liked this place.”

Evelyn nodded vigorously. “Great. That’s even better. Now, about the ring. Have you thought about the design? Something contemporary, or maybe a classic cut?”

“I’m thinking something unique, maybe a custom design that incorporates elements of her taste. She loves art, so perhaps something that echoes that passion?”

“Brilliant!” Evelyn scribbled furiously in her notebook. “I know just the jeweler for that. I’ll set up a meeting. And for the big night-do you want to keep it intimate, or should we invite friends and family for a celebration right after?”

“Just us for the proposal,” Alexander said thoughtfully. “But maybe a surprise engagement party afterward could be fun.”

“Got it. I’ll start making lists of potential dates and check the availability of some places. We’ll need to coordinate with their events team quietly.” Evelyn was already listing potential caterers, decorators, and musicians who could add the necessary flair to the occasion. “And don’t forget, we need a secret photographer to capture the moment!”

Alexander felt a surge of gratitude as he watched Evelyn orchestrate what was to be one of the most important moments of his life with such gusto and precision. “Evelyn, I don’t know what I’d do without you.”

“Don’t worry, Alexander. It’s going to be magical,” she assured him, her eyes gleaming with excitement. “Sophia won’t know what hit her!”

With Evelyn handling the logistics, Alexander felt a reassuring sense of peace. He could trust her completely to make the proposal as unforgettable as Sophia deserved. As she continued to outline ideas, his heart swelled with anticipation and love, eager for the moment he could finally ask Sophia to be his forever.
