She was happily packing her own things?"

Brian nearly laughed at his own stupidity. Was she really in such a hurry to leave the Lodge residence? "Mr. Lodge, are you alright?" Martha asked, unsettled by his dark expression.

Brian's mood had been all over the place lately.

"I'm fine!" he snapped. "If she likes packing, let her pack. She can carry it all down herself! Don't help her!"

With that, Brian stalked away.

Martha looked puzzled. Was he angry with Ariana or with himself?

Ariana carefully tucked the contract documents into the bottom of her suitcase and stood it upright.

A knock sounded at the door, followed by Martha's voice. "Ms. Torrey?"

"Come in."

Ariana finished packing her suitcase. Seeing Martha hesitating by the door, she said, "Perfect timing. My leg's injured, so I can't carry this. Could you please help me take my suitcase downstairs, Martha?"

"Well..." Martha said awkwardly, "Mr. Lodge instructed that you bring it down yourself. He doesn't want us to help."

"What's got into him?" Ariana muttered.

He was the one who wanted to kick her out. Knowing she was injured, he even forbade the maids from helping her. Was he trying to torture her on purpose?

Martha stayed silent. She didn't know what Brian was thinking.

Ariana looked at her suitcases and said, "Fine. I'll find my own way.'

She pulled out her phone and called a moving service.

When the driver arrived at the Lodge residence in a cargo van, he was taken aback. It felt strange that such a wealthy family would use a basic hauling service.

Downstairs, Brian was finishing dinner as Ariana instructed the movers to carry her belongings.

The driver even helped her down the stairs.

Seeing this, Brian just let out a snide huff.

Calling a cargo van for her luggage? That was something only Ariana would do.

Brian withdrew his gaze, acting as if he hadn't seen Ariana at all.

"Emily, give Ms. Torrey the address," he ordered flatly.

"Yes, Mr. Lodge," Emily replied, stepping forward and handing the address to the driver.

Ariana mustered a polite smile. "Thank you for your hospitality, Mr. Lodge. I hope you enjoy your engagement with Ms. Quinlan. Goodbye."

She spoke with genuine sincerity, but to Brian, it sounded sarcastic.

Enjoy his engagement with Elise? Did Ariana really say that!

By the time he processed it, she was out the door. The gates shut behind her.

Brian set down his cutlery.

Martha asked timidly, "Mr. Lodge, have you finished your meal?"

He'd barely touched his food. He rose abruptly and said coldly, "I've lost my appetite."

With that, he marched upstairs.

Emily shook her head at Martha.

Only Ariana could provoke these emotional outbursts from Brian.
