Chapter 399
When Arya walked out of the kindergarten and was about to get in the car, she saw a man standing by the side of the road. He was looking at her.
Arya was slightly stunned for a few seconds before she bent over and got into the car.
The Deputy looked back at Arya. "When you brought Ryan into the kindergarten, I saw him standing there looking at you. Do you know him?"
Arya didn't look out and said indifferently, "No. Let's go.”
The Deputy officer started the car without saying anything.
Richard stood there with his crutch. He bent like an old fellow.
"Are you going to the company?" The Deputy asked.
Arya nodded.
On the way to the company, Arya's phone rang. She picked it up.
"Is that Mrs. Jones?"
It was a familiar voice. Arya replied, "Yes."
"I'm Officer YANG. Can you come over now?"
Arya said, "OK."
Hanging up the phone, Arya asked the Deputy to change the route. "I'm going to the police station.”
The Deputy forked at the intersection.
The car stopped after about half an hour. Arya got out of the car, and the Deputy followed her and said, "Let me go with you."
Arya nodded. Officer YANG stood at the door.
Seeing Arya, he stepped forward to greet her.
"Did you have something to tell me?" Arya asked.
She didn't think Officer YANG would call her over for no reason.
"Please come in."
Arya followed him into his office. "Have a seat.” Officer YANG pointed to the chair and got her a glass of water.
Arya did not look at the glass or touch it. Instead, she asked, "What exactly are you going to say?" "Rufus is dead.”
Arya frowned and asked, "Before or after he is here?”
Officer YANG licked his dry lips. "After."
"He died after coming in. What does it have to do with me?"
"He was too badly injured to die.” Officer YANG pursed his lips. "I wanted to get some information from him. After all, he would know something since he was with Liam.”
Officer YANG emphasized at the end of the sentence and felt that Arya was too impulsive. "Bad people are always punished. Why do you do that?"
Arya looked at Officer YANG indifferently. “Jacob just punched him a few times. It's not fatal. As for the reason why he died, you should ask your men."
The four bodyguards did it that day.
His death had nothing to do with her.
"Apart from your men that day, there were two of Liam's men. I think there's someone who doesn't want him to live." Arya lowered her eyes, picked up the water on the table, and took a sip.
Officer YANG sighed. "You win."
"It has nothing to do with me." Arya didn't want to be involved in a murder case.
Officer YANG supported his chin and stared at Arya. "People say that rich families are complicated. Did they choose their wives carefully?"
Otherwise, how could Arya be so calm?
They were talking about a dead person, and she felt nothing at all.
Arya raised her eyes and drew her brows slightly. "This doesn't seem to have anything to do with the case, does it?"
Officer YANG sat up straight. "Yeah, it can be said so."
"Then can I leave now?" Arya stood up.
"Sure, well... Be careful.” Liam arranged for two men in the WS Group to monitor Arya.
If he found out anything, Arya would be in danger.
Arya, who was walking to the door, suddenly stopped. She turned to look at Officer YANG. "May I see someone?"
"Who?" Officer YANG's face twitched. Did she want to confirm if Rufus was dead?
"Harriet." Arya never wanted to see her. Just now, she recalled Richard's old figure, so Arya blurted out.
Officer YANG breathed a sigh of relief. "Okay. I can help you.”
with Officer YANG's arrangement, Arya soon saw Harriet.
They opened the iron doors one after another with clanging sounds.
This place was familiar and reminded her of many bad memories.
The hurt that she had suffered over the years and the tears she had shed.
Those people and those things had changed a lot.
Arya was lost in thought when Officer YANG said to her, "Harriet is in the innermost room."
Arya nodded and walked forward, looking inside through the vent on the door.
Harriet crossed her knees and sat on the bed. There was no arrogance on her face. Staying here had changed her a lot.
She became quiet.
This place could change a person.
Arya turned around and left. Officer YANG asked her, "Aren't you going in to take a look?"
Arya shook her head and asked, "Did she do well?"
"Yes," Officer YANG said.
"How soon will she get out?" Arya asked.
"Fifteen years."
She was the culprit of Jasper's death. Jasper was the deputy bureau at that time, so she got a heavy sentence.
"It wasn't her. The real culprit was Georgina.” Arya looked at Officer YANG. "Officer YANG, please investigate this matter. I hope she would come out early for the sake of someone.”
Arya had let go of her past grudges.
"I will." Officer YANG agreed.
Officer YANG came out of the room and asked, "Who is that? Why do you help her?"
Arya looked ahead and was not in a good mood. "Just one of my acquaintances.”
Officer YANG shook his head, indicating that he did not understand.
Arya came out of the police station and went back to the company.
She went to pick up Ryan from school early in the evening and went home to accompany Ramona. After about half a month, Liam finally made a move.
He used the WS Group to import some goods from the port.
Jacob was excited and thought that Liam had finally taken the bait.
However, many people were disappointed. Liam did not carry any contraband but just fruits. Although Jacob was a little anxious, he was still calm.
Liam might just be testing.
"I think it won't be long before he takes action.” Jacob looked serious under the light.
The Gates Family fell. Liam hadn't brought in any goods in the past few months. It was strange that he wasn't in a hurry.
Arya propped her chin. She looked out of the window and didn't hear Jacob's words.
She looked lost in thought somewhere.
Arya was prone to this state in the past few days. Jacob did not dare to disturb her and quietly left the study.
"Are you done talking?" Daisy had just put Ramona down. When she came out of the room, she saw Jacob coming out of the study.
Jacob nodded gently. "Yes."
"Come here." Daisy waved at him.
Jacob walked towards her.
"Bridget, get us some fruits.”
Now that she knew what Daisy was thinking, Jacob felt unsettled.
