Chapter 390
"Why don't you explain and tell him the truth?" Jacob didn't understand. She could explain what happened to him.
Bridget had a wry smile, "We're not destined. I don't want to explain.”
Jacob took a deep breath. There was a chance but she didn't explain. It only meant that Bridget didn't like Edward that much. Otherwise, she wouldn't let him marry another woman
At this time, they reached Jacob's car that parked by the roadside.
"Go home. Be careful on the road."
After saying that, Bridget had already walked towards the Old Residence not far away.
Jacob stood still and looked at Bridget. Soon, her figure disappeared in the darkness. Jacob got into the car and sat in the driver's seat. Instead of starting the car, he called Edward.
"Jacob." Edward's voice came from the phone.
"Edward, are you married?" Jacob thought it was impossible.
Edward sat by the bed in silence.
"Why are you silent?" Jacob raised his voice.
He didn't know what he was angry about. He was angry that Edward didn't give him a wedding invitation, or maybe he was angry that Edward got married at the point of Xavier's accident.
"... Yes, I'm married."
Jacob's chest heaved rapidly. He felt incredulous and angry. "You really get married? Do you know what happened to the Jones Family? Why did you get married at this juncture? Edward, I thought we were friends."
Edward sat in the wedding room. The big bed was covered with a new set of bedding, and flaming red roses were placed on the windowsill. He stared at the bouquet of roses and was lost in thought, Tes
"You sent out the invitation to Bridget on purpose, right?"
In Jacob's heart, Edward did this on purpose. Edward didn't even say anything about his marriage, but only send an invitation to Bridget. Edward must mean to tell Bridget that he could love another woman as well as get married and live a happy life without Bridget.
Edward was confused. He was not willing to get married but followed his family's will. Besides, Bridget didn’t give him hope, so he gave up.
He married without telling anyone at home.
"I didn't send it..."
As Edward spoke, he recalled Bridget's appearance at the wedding. Bridget suddenly appeared and disturbed his heart. He had no idea how she could appear.
He didn't say that, so how did Bridget know?
"Why are you speechless?" Jacob questioned, "Although Bridget never accepted you all these years, my boss treated you very well. It is disappointing of you to do so. You let a chance slip through your finger."
"What do you mean?" Edward was confused
Jacob didn't bother to talk with him and hung up the phone. He didn't answer when Edward called him, and drove on the road at high speed.
Edward held the phone. No matter how dull he was, he could still realize that Jacob's words meant more.
He got up and walked out of the room. Downstairs, Mrs. Collins sat on the sofa watching TV. His wife was cutting the fruit in the kitchen.
Edward stared at his mother, "You sent the invitation to Bridget?"
Mrs. Collins looked up and raised her eyebrows. It seemed that he already knew. Anyway, now that he was married, he could do nothing though he knew.
"Yes. She's not the only woman in the world. Without her, you still have to get married and have children."
Edward's eyes turned red and he questioned, "I have promised you to stay here and not return home. I have also promised you to get married. Why do you still do this?"
"I did it for you!" Mrs. Collins stood up angrily. She looked at her son, "I'm your mother. I feel bad watching you live like a walking dead just because of a woman.”
Edward couldn't refute.
He had been staying at home all these years. His parents only had one son, and he didn't fulfill his responsibility as a son.
In order to chase Bridget, he even lost his self-esteem, but in the end, he did not move her.
Edward fell on the sofa and propped his forehead on his hands, "You force me.”
Mrs. Collins sat back and breathed heavily. "I force you for your own good. I force you because I care about you. Others only bully you because you are a fool.”
"Do you think I am that stupid?" Edward's eyes were filled with tears.
Mrs. Collins pursed her lips and looked away. She didn't mean to say such terrible words.
"I want to go back home.” Edward looked at Mrs. Collins and said firmly, "Even if you don't agree, I'll still go back."
"Edward!" Mrs. Collins was furious, "Do you forget what you have promised me?”
"I did promise you, but I don't know how many things you did behind my back. There are some things I have to explain.”
"You're already married. It's not important if you explain or not. Besides, you just married Demi. How can you go back home and leave her alone? She's your wife. Are you going to leave her alone after you just got married?” Mrs. Collins was annoyed.
In her heart, Edward's persistence and single-mindedness were a sign of stupidity.
Edward closed his eyes, "I must go back.”
"I won't agree!" Mrs. Collins took a tough stance.
" Edward.”
Demi was standing at the kitchen door, holding the pieces of fruits. She heard that they were arguing in the living room, and understood what happened.
As soon as Bridget appeared that day, she knew what was going on.
She walked over, put the fruits on the table, and looked at Mrs. Collins, "Mom, we've got married. I believe he won't do anything wrong, so please, allow him to go home.”
Mrs. Collins was stunned, "He..."
"I know that Edward has someone he likes at home, but I believe him. He has married me, so he won't betray me,” Demi said firmly.
Even Edward was surprised that she could say this
Even his mother wouldn't trust him so much.
"Mom, do you agree?" Seeing Mrs. Collins didn't say anything, Demi asked.
Mrs. Collins thought Demi was a freak. She knew that there was someone Edward liked at home but still helped him. Was she out of her mind?
"I am begging you. Let him go. I don't want him to have regrets in his life.”
"What if he doesn't come back?" Mrs. Collins asked.
"You won't abandon me, will you?" Demi stared at Edward with sparkling eyes.
Demi knew that a man like Edward would be wholehearted if he was good to a woman.
So she had to use her tolerance and kindness to impress him and win his heart.
