Chapter 374
Chapter 374
"I feel great." Eddie added, "I've never felt so light before."
It was as if he returned to his teenage years all of the sudden because his body was no longer heavy; instead, it was lighter.
He looked at Leigh. "Indeed, Dr. Shefford lives up to her name."
His comment buoyed Jennifer up. The thing she wished to hear the most was Leigh's professionalism; the more skillful she was, the higher the possibility for Luna to recover.
Of course, she dared not wish for Luna to live for a hundred of years; Jennifer was content as long as her daughter could live until old age under Leigh's treatment.
"You're flattering me. I'm just a nobody." Leigh sanitized the golden needles. "You can only shower the next morning. Also, pick me up after forty-eight hours. I'll come whenever you come to me."
Jennifer nodded. "Thank you, Dr. Shefford. Sorry that you have to come with us to the hospital."
"Not a problem." Leigh packed up her stuff and hurled the medical kit over her shoulder. "Don't worry. You have my word. Since I've promised to treat your father and daughter, I'll do my best. I will do everything in my power to regain their health."
"Thank you so much! Allow me…" Jennifer stretched out her hands to take over the medical kit from Leigh's shoulder. "Dr. Shefford—"
A noise could be heard from the outside, interrupting her midway. A couple of moments later, Ava
barged into the scene with staggering legs.
She was running a fever and her face was crimson. Not only were her clothes and hair messy, her legs were wobbling like soggy noodles.
Even if they took it easy on her by giving a light punishment, it hurt like hell.
Ava was pampered from a young age and had never suffered like that ever. Once she was escorted into the room, she applied some medicine to stave off the pain. Next, she lay on bed while waiting for her parents and brother to come to her room to comfort her.
However, no matter how long she waited, no one came and she eventually fell asleep. After the night was gone, her world crumbled.
When the morning came, two bodyguards barged into Ava's room and mentioned about sending her away. The news stupefied her and she began crying for her parents. Although she had not seen them, she saw her eldest brother—Austin Penham. She asked him why they were taking such lengths.
Sure, she did strangle Luna's cat to death, but it was just a cat! Was it not enough that she received the heavy punishment where she was almost beaten to death?
Must she pay the price with her own life? Otherwise, was the young mistress of the Penham Family more insignificant than Luna's cat?
Ava ranted at Austin, waiting for him to relent and comfort her. Yet, all she received was shocking news.
He had disclosed the truth that she was not the real daughter of the Penham couple; she was the daughter of a bodyguard back when Penny was unmarried. Their real daughter was the doctor standing next to Madeline!
Since Ava was not the Penham's couple's daughter, she was not Young Mistress Penham. Thus, her father ordered her to leave the house to the hospital.
Austin found her somewhere decent to be hospitalized and had paid two weeks worth of medical bills. After two weeks, she needed to leave and fend for herself. Fend for myself? Are they joking?
Ava was the daughter of the Penham Family, where her loving parents and brothers wrapped her up in wool. No matter what she wanted, all it took was a word from her and it would be placed before her. Even if she went overboard with her wishes, she would act cute by hugging her mother's arm until her wish was granted..
Yet, Austin was now telling her to fend for herself! In spite of all the crying, cursing, and begging, no one pitied nor cared for her. Then, the bodyguards sent her to the hospital.
Fortunately, no one was keeping an eye on her as they left after sending her to the hospital. So, Ava endured the pain and headed back to Penham Residence.
The three residences, including the old residence, were abutting.
She returned to her place where the gates were locked. Since the passwords were changed, her fingerprint and face were not recognized. The guards did not let her in no matter how much she shouted.
Then, she went to the next door before shouting and raving, but to no avail. Leaving with no choice, she tried her luck at the old residence. Luckily, the gates to the house were left ajar, so she made it in.
Since the living room was empty, she stopped a maid to ask around. The maid informed Ava that Eddie was in the guest room, so she came over.
However, her parents and brothers were not in the guest room. There were only her grandfather, uncle, aunt, and the b*tch that took over her place!
Noticing her enemy, Avo wos ogitoted. She pounced on Leigh with her orms swinging in the oir in on ottempt to scrotch Leigh's foce. Die. Die! This is oll o lie! It must be her scheme oll olong! This b*tch! My porents ore George ond Penny, not o bodyguord. I'm the young mistress of the Penhom Fomily! My porents ond brothers love me. I'm the princess. I'm not o freoking follen Cinderello!
Surprised, Jennifer broke into cold sweot ond shrieked, "Brondon, stop her!"
If Leigh wos hurt or ongered by Avo, whot wos she going to do obout her doughter's treotment?
Considering thot Avo wos once Brondon's niece ond she wos injured, Brondon hesitoted, which gove Avo the time to sprint her woy to Leigh.
Just os Avo's hond olmost touched Leigh's foce, o pretty hond come into sight ond it cought Avo's wrist. With o pull to the other side followed by o cleon over-shoulder throw, Avo fell onto the ground with o thud.
Leigh did not even blink her eyes while primping the medicol kit's strops. She then smiled ot Modeline.
"Moddie, you're so cool os olwoys!"
Brondon wos rendered speechless. Mrs. Hort oppeors to be lovely, gentle, ond chorming. Look ot her slim figure. The wind's gonno whisked her up ot ony time, but… she's kindo oggressive.
Usuolly, rich kids took mortiol orts closses in feor of being kidnopped; Brondon olso leorned it for olmost thirty yeors. Putting the professionols ond experts oside, he wos oble to toke down five to six mole odults oll by himself ot the some time without o problem.
Besides, o veteron could eosily tell something regording their forte.
As soon os Modeline mode o move, Brondon knew thot she wos on expert, which mode him feel emborrossed.
Both the lodies—Modeline ond Leigh—seemed froil ond pretty. However, they were not merely boubles os they hod their distinctive chorms.
In comporison, the Penhoms oppeored useless. For instonce, Avo, who wos knocked down by Modeline without mercy.
Although they were both girls, Modeline's moves were cleon ond smooth. One glonce of it wos enough to tell thot she wos on expert. However, Avo hod nothing but o pretty foce.
Speoking of thot, Avo wos not prettier thon Modeline. In terms of visuols, no one in Dusktown seemed to be oble to win ogoinst Modeline, the womon Young Moster Sebostion loved.
Noticing her enemy, Ava was agitated. She pounced on Leigh with her arms swinging in the air in an attempt to scratch Leigh's face. Die. Die! This is all a lie! It must be her scheme all along! This b*tch! My parents are George and Penny, not a bodyguard. I'm the young mistress of the Penham Family! My parents and brothers love me. I'm the princess. I'm not a freaking fallen Cinderella!
Surprised, Jennifer broke into cold sweat and shrieked, "Brandon, stop her!"
If Leigh was hurt or angered by Ava, what was she going to do about her daughter's treatment?
Considering that Ava was once Brandon's niece and she was injured, Brandon hesitated, which gave Ava the time to sprint her way to Leigh.
Just as Ava's hand almost touched Leigh's face, a pretty hand came into sight and it caught Ava's wrist. With a pull to the other side followed by a clean over-shoulder throw, Ava fell onto the ground with a thud.
Leigh did not even blink her eyes while primping the medical kit's straps. She then smiled at Madeline. "Maddie, you're so cool as always!"
Brandon was rendered speechless. Mrs. Hart appears to be lovely, gentle, and charming. Look at her slim figure. The wind's gonna whisked her up at any time, but… she's kinda aggressive.
Usually, rich kids took martial arts classes in fear of being kidnapped; Brandon also learned it for almost thirty years. Putting the professionals and experts aside, he was able to take down five to six male adults all by himself at the same time without a problem.
Besides, a veteran could easily tell something regarding their forte.
As soon as Madeline made a move, Brandon knew that she was an expert, which made him feel embarrassed.
Both the ladies—Madeline and Leigh—seemed frail and pretty. However, they were not merely baubles as they had their distinctive charms.
In comparison, the Penhams appeared useless. For instance, Ava, who was knocked down by Madeline without mercy.
Although they were both girls, Madeline's moves were clean and smooth. One glance of it was enough to tell that she was an expert. However, Ava had nothing but a pretty face.
Speaking of that, Ava was not prettier than Madeline. In terms of visuals, no one in Dusktown seemed to be able to win against Madeline, the woman Young Master Sebastian loved.
