Chapter 226
Patricia and the kids returned home and they took afternoon naps right after lunch because of the long sleepless night they had yesterday.
At around 3.00PM, Patricia was suddenly awakened by the ping sound from the notification on her phone. The money had been transferred into her bank account.
She reached out to grab her phone and take a look. She was merely expecting to see an incoming message, but she was instantly surprised by the notification that her money had been transferred into her account.
Startled, she immediately jolted upright. "Ah!"
Her loud voice reverberated throughout the house. It was a transaction success notification, so it meant that she did not have to approve the transaction even.
As soon as her voice rang out, Josephine and the three kids rushed into her bedroom.
"Mommy, what's wrong?"
Josephine wore an anxious look on her face. "Tricia, what happened?"
All of a sudden, Patricia leaped out of bed and hugged Josephine before embracing her three kids.
Sylvie's eyes flickered as she wanted to leap up too, but Scott and Stellan held her hands firmly.
"Sylvie, you've got a wound."
As such, she could only stare as Patricia jumped up in excitement in front of them. The three of them were in shock and they wondered what had happened to trigger such happiness. After all, Patricia was behaving like an excited child.
At that moment, she finally noticed the balance on her account and the total amount was exactly one million and a hundred thousand. She blinked her large eyes as she considered the situation.
"Gosh, the police have helped us get the money back, but they've also given us the balance of five hundred thousand, which was supposed to be a loan. This is so strange. Should I notify them and return the five hundred thousand?"
Josephine smiled and replied, "Tricia, you're too nice! I'm sure that they wouldn't have made such a mistake."
The incident from last night had resulted in Sylvie getting injured. With Isaac dealing with the matter, surely those men would not dare to come after them for money anymore. Being the intelligent one, Josephine could clearly tell what was going on.
However, Patricia felt bad about taking advantage of someone, so she naturally felt the need to return the money. Though she needed the money badly, she would never take something that did not belong to her. Following that, she sat back onto the bed and looked at her three kids.
"Did I wake you guys up? I'm so sorry about that! You should continue your nap if you're still tired."
Sylvie sat down next to Patricia and leaned on her. "Tricia, I was too foolish last night and I tripped. I'm sorry for startling you."
Patricia responded by smiling before stroking Sylvie's tiny face. "I should be the one to apologize. I'm the one who failed to take good care of you and put you in danger. I won't allow this to happen ever again."
She vowed to never apply for a loan with the loansharks anymore. She was determined to work hard and give the three kids a comfortable life.
Looking at them, Scott and Stellan stood across from the two girls with smiles on their faces. They were not too clear about how a girl's mind worked, but they enjoyed seeing their happy countenances.
Then, Patricia spent some quality time with the three kids before leaving the house. She drove off in her tiny red car and headed over to the loan company. The main shop of the company was still there and the receptionist greeted her warmly as soon as she entered the place.
They led her into the manager's office, knowing that Blake's injuries were inflicted by this very woman.
"Blake, this lady is here to see you."
As soon as Blake saw her, his eyes widened and he nearly burrowed under the table to hide from her.
Composed, Patricia walked over to him and took a seat on the chair across from him.
"Blake, I'll repay the entire amount I loaned from you."
As she spoke, she reached out for her phone. "Send me your bank account details. I'll transfer you exactly five hundred and fifty thousand."
Blake was dumbfounded and he could not control the chill that ran down his spine with his trembling legs as he recalled her wild actions from last night.
At that moment, he thought of Isaac and he knew that she was his woman. He had just spent a long time begging for mercy earlier on; had he not done that and promised to compensate her, he would not have been sitting in this position right now. Instead, it was likely that he would be in prison or perhaps even crippled after being subjected to a brutal beating. At that point, Blake lifted a hand and wiped off the cold sweat from his forehead. "Miss Aniston, please forgive me and let me off the hook!"
