Worship The Ground You Walk On

Chapter 60 Fish on

The atmosphere in the car became a bit awkward because of what Hanna just said. Her eyes were fixed on Ben's face because she didn't know where else she could look.

Hanna didn't know what has got into her. She didn't know why she felt so annoyed and messy.

Ben put one hand on the steering wheel and unbuttoned the button on his neck. Hanna could see his big and tough Adam's apple. His fair hands were manipulating the steering wheel slowly, which looked so sexy.

"Maybe"

The answer was simple, and even Ben wasn't sure if that was final.

Whether they would divorce or not highly depended on their kid.

That was his biggest concern.

Hanna took a deep breath and said with a forced smile, "I was just asking. I know you have a kid, and you should always consider him first."

"I know" Ben sounded cold. Hanna didn't know how he felt about this.

She didn't know how to express herself to him because her mind was messy, too. She wasn't sure if this was a proper chance to have the chat with Ben, so she stopped talking.

Ben sent her back to the company. Before the car approached the company, they saw from afar that the front door of the company is crowded with people.

Many of those people were reporters carrying various equipment. They turned over and rushed to the car as soon as they saw Hanna was inside.

Hanna squeezed the purse in her hand. She panicked and gasped in desperation.

Her art company was jointly established by her and others. Those people were completely provoked after Claudia sold the company to save the old house of the Evans. The shareholders wanted to withdraw their capital and let Hanna deal with this mess on her own.

Hanna had been afraid of going to the company in the past few days, but Ben was here with her today.

The Crawford Group had the intention to make up for her loss, but the damage had already been done. The company is at risk now. Maybe their amendments would end up in vain.

Public opinion was fierce. As soon as the news spread out, Hanna's name was all over Twitter. Journalists rushed to interview and report her art company.

She sat in the car, frowning, looking so anxious.

"Do you need me to come?" Ben whispered to her with his husky voice. Hanna looked aside and their gazes collided with each other.

She stared at him and found his eyes were as deep as an ancient deep pool. They were so unpredictable and distant. She thought for a while, shook her head, and said, "No, I can do this on my own." As she spoke, she got out of the car.

As soon as she got out of the car, she was surrounded by countless reporters. They kept pointing microphones at him and ask all kinds of questions. They were like vampires craving blood. "Miss Lewis, rumors had it that you sold your company for the old house of the Evans. It looked like you did it for your friend, but you have done it for someone you love, is that so?"

"Could that be a confirmation of your rumor with Mr. Crawford? It was said he's going through a divorce recently, does that has anything to do with you?"

"Please tell us more! What's your role in Mr. Crawford's marriage? Is it true that you, his ex, have now become the third party?"

These journalists were all very experienced. Hanna was a businesswoman who had been through enough ups and downs, the only way to let her crack was to provoke her with extreme words. That way, that would have the perfect material for tomorrow's headlines.

Hanna knew their little tricks, and she wouldn't bite the lure. She remained calm and responded, "I'm sorry. I'm not a public figure. It's my personal life, so no comment."

Then her assistant and secretary, as well as the company's security guards started to drove the journalists away. She passed by those people and walked into the company.

She walked through the corridor and got into the elevator. The door closed and sent her to the top floor. As she walked into her office, she felt her palm had been soaked with cold sweats.

It would be a disaster for ordinary people if they became the public focus because their relationships and business secrets were exposed.

She took a deep breath and sat on her chair. Then she rubbed her forehead with her fingertips. There was more complexity in her beautiful eyes than ever.

Hanna lost a great fortune after she bid the old house. While she was being harassed by the media, Claudia and Ben's silent treatment was also going on.

The next week felt as long as a century.

Claudia missed her son and her mom.

They were the only two-person who were connected with her by bloodline. Being unable to see them for so long made her heart hurt. She felt so depressed, but she had no one to talk to. Just by then, her phone rang.

Usually, it would be Kim, but this time, Claudia looked at a different name on the screen, her eyes looking a bit cold.

When the phone was connected, she heard a woman's coquettish voice on the other side. The woman asked with an arrogant attitude, "You must be missing your mom."

It was Amber. Her words stabbed Claudia's heart like spiky thorns. Claudia was a bit surprised and wondered why Amber call her.

"I'm sorry for having not taken care of you as your sister for all these years. I can arrange a meeting for you and your mom, but you have to do me a favor first!" Amber requested the other side of the phone. Claudia frowned upon hearing that.

"Don't worry, it's a piece of cake for you. I knew you are a born musician. We had a banquet this afternoon. Why don't you come over and play a few pieces? I'll take you to the nursing home as long as you play it well."

Claudia was stunned as soon as she heard that.

"Send me a message if you agree, and it's OK if you don't want to go. I'm here to help. Don't be such a stupid and ungrateful fool."

Amber snorted again and hang up the phone.

Claudia gripped her phone and considered it for a long while. Playing a few pieces was more than easy for her, and it wouldn't be a good idea if she could meet her mother after that.

On the other side of the city, Blair was furiously scolding Amber who was sitting on the sofa, "Who told you to make that decision? Ann is why we can have Claudia under control. I told you never to let them meet unless we got the CCM project!"

"Don't worry, mom. Just leave her to me, I would only wish her to be more miserable."

As she said that, her phone buzzed. It was a text from Claudia. Amber grinned a contemptuous smile. Then she shook her phone and said to Blair, "Fish on, mom! The show is on!"☐☐☐
