Worship The Ground You Walk On

Chapter 57 A Divorced Young Lady

Ben suddenly snorted. His cold fingertips touched the hair on her forehead. Claudia felt it hard to breathe because Ben's eyes looked cold as ice.

When she heard the word divorce, her heart trembled. She stared at him in the eyes and her finger clenched.

"You know how we were matched as much as I do. Claudia, you're still young. Stop wasting your time on me and my family."

Ben's words were subtle and diplomatic. He might have thought about it for days or even months. What happened today was just the last straw that broke the camel's back.

He looked at Claudia with complicated emotions in his eyes and his ruthless face remained unchanged. He said, "You should think about it. You can get whatever you want as long as you sign the papers." Ben had always been generous when it came to money.

She was once his woman, no matter how they would end up. He would treat her nicely, even it was just for Conrad's sake.

He satisfied her with whatever she wanted, except for his love.

He would never love her.

That was a forbidden zone. She would never be able to reach it.

Claudia closed her eyes in sorrow. She gasped and couldn't bear the pain deep in her heart.

She shook her head and pulled her hand off his grip. It was like a polite retreat.

Claudia signed, "I won't sign those papers. I know our marriage is about to fail, but I've done nothing wrong. I won't get a divorce." She didn't want Conrad to grow up with a single parent.

She was a mother, and when it came to marriage, she tended to consider more for her child.

Before Ben replied, Claudia turned back fast and get away, flustered. Ben looked at the view of her back. It looked a bit different today. When Claudia came back to the apartment, Kim immediately figured out what had happened as she saw Claudia's depressed face.

"Ben wants a divorce, doesn't he?"

When she went to talk to Ben a few hours ago, she already had some speculations when she saw his reaction. That was why he was so sure about that now.

Claudia didn't say anything, she sat on the sofa and signed. Then she raised her head and stared at the ceiling.

"You silly woman. Do you really have to be like this? Is he worth it?"

Kim was one of the witnesses of how their relationship developed. She felt sad for this poor woman. She had loved him for over ten years and was willing to give up everything for his benefit. Claudia couldn't speak, but she had a clear and sharp mind. She had no experience in business circles, but she had excellent sensitivity and memory for numbers. She was almost born with the ability of mental arithmetic and rapid calculation.

Years ago, before she married Ben, the Crawford Group was affected financial crisis from abroad, which resulted in a lock of working capital in its account. The company's performance was low, and the situation is getting worse every day.

Claudia then sat in the office all by herself, and operated the shares of dozens of large foreign enterprises. She worked for nearly a month and finally helped the Crawford Group get it through. However, she soon ended up in the hospital because of insufficient sleep. She was in the hospital for half a month.

However, Ben had no idea of this at all.

She was a terrifying super hacker on the Internet, a magical trader in the financial world, but she chose to hide herself in front of this man. She restrained herself so that she could be a quiet and conscientious housewife.

She did all of these for him because she loved him!

Love was in her blood.

Kim wanted to tell her that it was not worth it. What a shame that Ben didn't know he should cherish this woman!

She patted Claudia on the shoulder and sighed, "Relax. You'll finally end up together if you're meant to be together. He'll be back if this is your destiny."

Claudia was in a daze. She knew Kim was coaxing her, but she really needed that right at this moment.

"After all, you two have a kid! You should think of him before whatever you do!"

Kim took a deep breath and asked, "What do you want for dinner?"

Claudia wasn't in the mood to eat today. She shook her head slightly. Then she told Kim to order her own meal and left her alone.

Ever since she "moved" out of the Crawford family, she had been separated from her son. She missed Conrad, and the depression is haunting her. She was in a daze, getting thinner and thinner.

In just a few days, she shed quite a few pounds. Her face looked pale. She was in her room all day, browsing her phone.

She was waiting for Ben to contact her. Even one or two texts from him would comfort her and do great help.

Seeing what Claudia was like, Kim was so worried about her. She didn't want her to keep being like this. Sometimes Kim would drag Claudia out for a walk. They would go to the grocery store and buy food. However, this time, before they went to the grocery store, they met Amber at the gate of the shopping mall. She was throwing her car key to the valet.

Amber was wearing a vivid red dress, shimmying over like a princess in movies. She had seen Claudia and Kim from afar. She yelled with her shrill voice:

"Isn't that Mrs. Crawford?"

She deliberately put her stress on "Mrs. Crawford". As soon as she yelled out, Claudia stopped walking.

It wasn't about the word "Mrs. Crawford". It was because she's too familiar with the voice. She grew up with this voice and the sarcastic tone. She could tell it was Amber.

Amber shimmied over on her high heels which were over ten centimeters. His eyes wandered on Claudia as she said disdainfully, "Look at you! A divorced young lady hanging out on the street. Don't you feel ashamed?"

Kim was immediately provoked. As she was about to argue, Claudia pulled her arms and stopped her.

Claudia didn't want to argue with Amber. It wasn't because they were sisters, it was because she felt it unnecessary. She was not in a good mood today, why bother to get in another trouble?

Claudia took Kim's hand and wanted to leave, but Amber wouldn't give up this opportunity. She caught up with them and said, "I told you he'll get rid of you sooner or later! Do you really think you can be the match for him? Stop daydreaming!"

She paused and then continued, "You turned us down last time when we asked you for help, remember? It's funny that you're now kicked out by them, isn't it? How would you live with the shame? A woman like you..."

Before she could finish her words, Kim could no longer hold her anger. She took a sudden step forward and stopped her. "Just shut up."

Amber bullied Claudia because Claudia was kind and unable to speak. Kim was an articulate woman with a sharp mind, and that was what Amber feared.

She stopped and swallowed her words back immediately.

"Get out! Nobody cares about your family business here!" Amber was the kind of person Kim hated most.

Amber felt discontented and upset, she gritted her teeth and yelled, "Who do you think you are? I'm talking to my sister!”

"Your sister? Since when? Don't get me to laugh. Everybody knows what you're after. I don't even want to expose your little dirty intention. Get out of my sight now, or..." Kim deliberately paused and didn't finish the sentence. She was indicating something.

Amber seemed to have read Kim's indication. Her big eyes rolled and said, "I don't give a damn about you. I should've avoided seeing this divorced woman. She's a jinx!" She spat out those harsh words and quickly left in embarrassment.

Claudia looked at Kim curiously. Before she asked, Kim gave her a mysterious smile and said, "I'll tell you later... all Amber's little secrets..."
