Chapter 3: Family Time
When I came to my senses, the sky was completely dark because I had too much fun raising my level as much as I could. Therefore, I hurriedly went back home.
“I-I’m home-“
I nervously opened the door and entered. It was at that moment…
“Mou, you’re late, Onii-chan!”
“Whoa!”
Suddenly, a ladle was adhered to my face. At the end of the ladle, stood a girl with her face pouting at me.
“Sorry, Hana. I was too absorbed in capturing a dungeon.”
“…. Well, fine. Leaving that aside, I will reheat the dinner so please wash your hands.”
“Okay”
The girl, Amane Hana, my little sister that was two years younger than me, went back to the living room. I immediately chased after Hana after washing my hands. Looking at the delicious dishes lined up on the dining table, I decided to eat it right away.
“Itadakimasu! Yeah, it’s delicious. As expected, Hana’s food is the best in the world.”
“…What’s wrong all of a sudden? You're being gross.”
“Uh!”
My heart was pierced by the sharp words.
“So, did something good happen?”
“What’s the matter?”
“I was just wondering because Onii-chan suddenly said something weird and unusually came back late.”
“I see… Something good indeed happened.”
And it was something ridiculously good.
“Is this good thing related to dungeons?”
“Indeed. It’s to the point that I’m glad I didn’t give up being an adventurer till the end.”
“I see… Then, that’s good.”
Hana displayed a genuine look of relief. She still feels guilty after all.
It’s all because our parents went missing after being involved in an accident when travelling abroad a few years ago. Right now, we live with the money our parents left for us, but it’s not an amount where we can be wasteful. For example, we won't have leeway if both Hana and I go to college.
This wasn’t what directly came out of my mouth, but Hana thinks that the reason I became an adventurer and started earning money right away after graduating from high school was to send her, who has excellent grades, to college.
No matter how many times I’ve explained, Hana would always give me an apologetic look without believing my explanation. Seeing such a Hana, I gave up on trying to explain. Believing it would be better for Hana if I didn’t touch on that topic—
In fact, I became an adventurer because I yearned for it and not because of that reason. Really, no matter how many times I explained, Hana wouldn’t believe me at all, so I got tired trying to explain.
I’m not in the wrong!
“So, has Onii-chan who had something good happen, finally become strong enough to challenge C rank dungeons?”
Hana laughed mischievously. Hana was most likely just joking as she knew my level was just around level 100.
The difficulty of dungeons goes up abruptly from C rank onwards. As a standard for capturing dungeons solo, adventurers need to be at least level 15 for E rank dungeons and level 30 for D rank dungeons while the standard for C rank dungeons is level 300.
Even if it was challenged with a party, one would want to be at least level 250 and the ones that have reached that level could basically be called competent adventurerscontemporary romance
At the same pace as before, it would take me more than a year to reach that level. That’s why Hana jokingly said it, but…
The current me could level up efficiently thanks to [Transfer Within Dungeon]. With that, I don’t even think I needed a month to reach that level.
“Hear this and be astounded! Actually…”
Suddenly I stopped speaking. Because my instinct told me I shouldn’t say this.
That’s right. The new power I gained was the ability that can ignore the common obstacle for adventurers, which is the re-challenge interlude.
The people around are bound to think it was unfair for me to be able to efficiently raise my level by using this skill. Depending on the situation, there might be an attack because of jealousy and anger.
I don’t think Hana is the kind of person who spreads around information, but I won’t know where the information may leak from. For this reason, this information should remain a secret only for me.
“What’s wrong, Onii-chan? Suddenly becoming absent-minded.”
“No, nothing. Unfortunately, looks like it will take awhile for me to challenge a C rank dungeon.”
“Un, I know.”
“Then, can you not ask?”
“It can’t be helped. When I talked with an aunty in the neighborhood, she said Asakura-san’s child from a neighbouring town has already challenged a B rank dungeon even though he was the same age as Onii-chan. It made me wonder about my Onii-chan. Well, I will be lying if I said teasing you was not my objective.”
Who the heck is this Asakura-san? And your purpose was to tease me after all.
“Ah, if we talk for too long, the rice will get cold. Now, now, please eat everything quickly.”
“Yes, Ma’am.”
Then, Hana and I had a pleasant family time while enjoying the dinner and conversation.
