Chapter No Place Like Home
With our help, Eleanor sealed Lahneus away and sent him up to her realm in the heavens. Meanwhile, Alice and I returned to the meadow where we fell in love. The daylight returned, and the surrounding forest seemed to come back to life. The ground was decorated with flowers of all shapes and colors. It smelled amazing.
Most surprising of all, there was this random bungalow at the in the exact same spot that we kissed. Alice and I were quite confused. We had no idea how it got here; we were only gone for about three days.
“Should we go check it out?” I asked. Alice nodded yes, and we quietly walked over to the bungalow. I summoned my sword just in case something were to jump out and attack us.
Nothing happened, thankfully, but I was still a bit suspicious. I slowly peeked through the door to look for any signs of life. Nothing. On another note, I was stunned to discover that the house was fully furnished. There wasn’t even a speck of dust to be found. Everything was perfectly preserved.
“Wow,” said Alice. “This is beautiful.”
I asked, “Where did this place come from?”
We stepped into the bungalow and started looking around. There was a faint scent of lavender in the air. The walls were decorated with golden ornate patterns, and the main color of choice for the furniture was periwinkle. Very interesting.
“Hey, Simon,” said Alice, holding a scroll with a gilded ribbon. “Come look at this.”
I walked over to her, and we opened the scroll. It was a letter from Eleanor. Alice became teary eyed.
For Simon and Alice,
If you are reading this, you’ve probably discovered your new home. You might be a little confused as to where this bungalow came from. Well, it was constructed in the very same place where you two fell in love. The power of love often manifests itself in a physical form. In this case, the bungalow represents the belonging, safety, and comfort you find in each other.
I find your love very intriguing and hope to visit you again soon. There’s something I want to show you.
Eleanor
I started to become a bit emotional myself. I excused myself and stepped outside. Alice followed. We watched as a bright ball of light rose in the sky.
“Thank you, Ellie,” Alice whispered.
As Alice and I embraced each other, I took a moment to look back on this incredible journey I’ve had. I’m beyond grateful for discovering this world, all experiences I’ve had, the people I’ve encountered, and everything I’ve learned about myself.
Best of all, I realize that I’m finally free and at peace. I’m free from everything in my past life and all that came with it―all the pain, the sorrow, the sickness and suffering―it was now a distant memory.
I look around in the field I’m standing in. It was just like in my dream―beautiful, full of flowers blooming, birds singing, and butterflies of many different colors and sizes. However, there was nothing in this world more beautiful than Alice.
This world was where Alice and I belonged. We were finally free from all that hurt or harmed us. For the first time in our lives, we experienced true happiness.
