This time, a huge group of people had also gathered next to the elevators. Calla had no choice but to go to the freight elevator so she wouldn’t be late.

A man in a black coat rushed into the elevator abruptly.

Calla frowned when she saw him. She lamented her bad luck inwardly. Why was it him again? Why did a CEO like him take the freight elevator? Was he doing it on purpose?

Mercer saw the frown on her face. So, he asked, “Do you not want to see me?”

“That’s not it. I’m just curious why you stopped chatting up the front desk admin so quickly.”

There was a tinge of mockery in her tone.

Mercer smiled when he heard that.

“What are you laughing at?” Calla had a bad feeling when she saw the smile.

“You’re jealous,” Mercer said as he stared straight at her.

“Why… Why would I be jealous? You must be kidding!” Calla said angrily.

Mercer took a step forward and pressed his hands against the elevator walls on either side of Calla’s head.

She was instantly trapped in a very limited space.

“What do you want to do?” Calla was frightened by his sudden approach.

He exuded quite a commanding presence. She felt like his scent had completely surrounded her.

Mercer seemed happy to see the fear in her eyes. He said seriously, “If you don’t like it, I can fire that Peggy woman right away.”

Calla looked away when he said that. That has nothing to do with me.”

He abruptly grabbed her face with his hand and then leaned down to kiss her on the lips.

Calla was so shocked her eyes were about to pop out of her sockets. She wanted to push him away after being dazed for a couple of seconds.

But Mercer quickly released her.

“Who told you you could put on lipstick? Do not use any more lipstick from now on!”

Calla looked at him in surprise. Then, she saw him wiping his lips with the back of his hand, and his hand was stained with red.

She finally understood that he was removing the lipstick from her lips with his mouth.

The elevator doors opened as it arrived at the 20th floor.

Calla glared at him and yelled, “Mercer Garland, you’re a pervert!”

She ran away right after she said that. Despite that, she was still panicking when she sat down at her desk.

What did he say? He didn’t allow her to use any more lipstick?

She hadn’t been using her lipstick at all recently. She only applied a little to appear more energetic because her complexion was a little pale from the morning sickness. She didn’t expect that encounter with Mercer at all.

Mercer’s actions were slowly making her feel more unsettled.

Two days later, Derek suddenly announced that the company was buying insurance for everyone. So, everyone was required to get a physical checkup at the hospital in the afternoon.

Calla thought Peggy had successfully hooked up with Mercer when she heard that. Before she could process the disgust she felt, she started to panic.

Alicia paced around for a bit. Then, she suggested, “The blood and urine tests are simple. You can use mine. The ultrasound will be problematic.

“How about this? Tell them you have an upset stomach when you go to the ultrasound room. Then, when everyone else is gone, I’ll go there with you again. We’ll bribe the person performing the examination…”

“I guess that’s all we can do.” Calla nodded.

Calla waited outside the ultrasound room uneasily in the afternoon.

“Calla Sherman!” The nurse quickly called her name.

“Coming.” Calla quickly went to the ultrasound room.
