Calla first had the cab driver drop Alicia off at her place before heading home herself.
As soon as she entered the hallway, Jasmine ran over excitedly. She whispered, “Mrs. Garland, Mr. Garland is back and waiting for you in the living room!”
Calla’s heart skipped a beat at the news. Wasn’t he supposed to be buying a ring with Sophie? Why was he back so soon? Maybe they were in a rush to get married and wanted to settle the divorce quickly.
She changed into her slippers and walked into the living room.
Her eyes met Mercer’s briefly before she went to the couch. Then, she tossed the package containing the diamond necklace onto the coffee table and sat down.
“Let’s get to the point. What do you want?” Calla’s face was cold.
“This is my home. Do I need a reason to see my wife?” Mercer frowned.
Calla let out a cold laugh. “If I’m not mistaken, this wife hasn’t seen her husband for a whole month, right?”
Mercer was at a loss for words, which Calla took as him having nothing to say to her.
“Or are you upset that I spent 100,000 with your card today?” She had spent it to let him know she was/ at the mall too and had seen him with Sophie.
Mercer glanced at the diamond necklace package on the coffee table. “Do you think I care about 100,000 dollars?”
“That’s right, you don’t care. I know Mr. Garland has plenty of money. You wouldn’t blink at spending) millions on a diamond ring for your loved one.” Calla’s tone was dripping with sarcasm.”
“Today, Sophie and I-”
Mercer tried to say something, but Calla cut him off. “I don’t want to know anything in regards to you and Sophie. If you’re here to discuss divorce, I agree with you! Let’s do it.”
Mercer’s frown deepened. He stared at her for a long moment before speaking slowly, “You’ve been eager to divorce me all along, haven’t you?”
“Isn’t it you who’s in a hurry?” Calla’s voice suddenly rose several octaves.
She couldn’t tolerate the fact that he wanted the divorce yet tried to push the blame onto her.
When did he become so hypocritical? She had never thought of him as a man who wouldn’t own up to his actions!
He stood up slowly and stepped closer to her, one step at a time.
Mercer’s proximity made Calla’s hair stand on end. It had been so long since they’d been this close.
The next moment, he suddenly reached out, grabbed her shoulders, and lifted her from the couch.

“What are you doing?” Calla’s voice trembled.
His brows were knitted, and his face was stern. She was a little afraid of him like this.
After a tense moment, Mercer finally spoke. “If you stop seeing Harlan, we can go on living together like nothing happened.”
For a moment, Calla was stunned. She stared at him for a long time before understanding what he
meant.
She used all her strength to shake off his hand and demanded, “What do you mean by that? Let me be clear! Harlan and I are just friends. There’s nothing improper between us!”
If they were getting divorced, so be it. Why did he have to accuse her of infidelity at the end?
Calla’s reaction made Mercer clench his fists, expressionless. “I saw you two being all lovey–dovey at the neighborhood entrance. Do you think I’m a fool?”
Hearing this, Calla froze. She immediately recalled running into Harlan at the entrance a few days ago.
