Chapter 69 How Do You Court Someone?

Cedric was taking a while as he refused to leave Mala’s side. “How could she be so cute even as she sleeps?”
Back in the living room, Baz and Dr. Moore kept looking at the stairway. The moment they saw Oswald, Baz rushed forward and
asked, “How did it go? Did Mr. Cedric agree?”
Oswald nodded and both of them sigh with relief.
“You had me worried a second there. Mr. Cedric’s back suffered second–degree burns a year ago. He was lucky that it was in
winter or else his wounds would’ve been worse. This time, he happened to have injured his back in summer. I’m worried that his
new wound would cause inflammation!”
Dr. Moore has been the Larkin family’s doctor for many years and knew Cedric well. He could be as stubborn as a mule.
“How did Mr. Cedric hurt himself?” Oswald asked.
“It was to save Ms. Maia,” Baz answered truthfully.
“It was because of Ms. Maia again? Those burns were because of her too!”
Baz nodded. When he was about to continue, the sound of footsteps echoed in the room. Baz immediately snapped his mouth
shut and looked toward the stairway.
Dr. Moore followed Baz’s gaze and noticed Cedric standing at the foot of the stairs.
“Mr. Cedric, let me dress your wound.”
Cedric nodded his head in approval as he took a seat on the couch. Dr. Moore swiftly checked his back and changed his
bandages. He also made sure that there were no signs of
inflammation in his wound.
“Mr. Cedric, please try not to get your wound wet.”
Dr. Moore knew his advice was meaningless. However, he could not just leave it be.
“It’s summer, the risk of having an inflammation is higher. Your wound is very deep. Please be more careful!”
Cedric nodded absent–mindedly as he got up to leave. His shirt was not even buttoned up
properly.
He came to a halt in front of Baz. He looked at Baz and asked, “How do you court someone?”

He cursed as he held the unconscious Maia in his arms Cedric took out his cell phone and contacted Dr. Moore, asking him to be
at his villa in 10 minutes.
After he hung up, he told the driver to drive as carefully as possible. He did not want her to feel worse from the car hurtling down
the streets.
Cedric noticed that Maia was still shivering as she mumbled faintly that she was feeling cold. He hugged her tighter to warm her
up with his body heat.
When they got to Prismara Hill, Cedric carried her out of the car.
Oswald came running towards them with an umbrella, “Mr. Cedric, let the staff do it. Your injury hasn’t fully recovered yet.”
“Is Dr. Moore here?”
“He’s waiting for you in the living room.”
Cedric increased his pace while carrying Maia all the way into the villa.
“Mr. Cedric, what’s wrong with Ms. Maia?” Dr. Moore was surprised when he Maia lying limp in Cedric’s arms.
“She has a fever.”
“Take her upstairs and let me have a look.”
After Cedric placed Maia on the bed, Dr. Moore took out a thermometer and took her
temperature.
“How is she?” Cedric asked worriedly. He was still in his wet clothes, not willing to leave the unconscious Maia on her own.
“She just has a fever and a cold. It’s nothing too serious. It was probably because of the rain, and stress from overworking made
her more susceptible. As long as she gets enough rest, she’ll be able to recover in no time. Ms. Maia hasn’t changed at all.”
Dr. Moore shook his head and sighed.
“What do you mean by that?”
“She was always sick. Once, I received a call from the housekeeper. By the time I got here she was asleep on the couch. One of
the housekeepers told me that she had stayed up waiting all night.”
“Why was she waiting all night?”
“Well, it was probably because you were supposed to get home that night. No one told her that your flight was delayed, so she
just kept staying up to wait for you.” Dr. Moore shrugged as he gave Maia a jab for her fever.

“What?” Bar was caught off guard by Cedric’s question. “Mr. Cedric, I don’t really have enough experience on this issue!
However, if you’re trying to get your ex–wife back, you need to show her that you’re sorry. Next, you have to show her your soft
side, and you can’t be too stubborn.
“As long as you show her that you’re nothing without her, that you need her, I’m sure Ms. Mala would take you back. Besides,
someone as kind as her would not be able to reject you!
“Who said this was about Maia?”
Baz swallowed nervously and asked, “Aren’t you asking about her?”
“Was I that obvious?”
Baz nodded vigorously, “Mr. Cedric, everyone can see that your attitude has changed. The way you treated Ms. Maia used to be
so different!”
“I didn’t realize I was that bad.”
“Bad? More like cruel!”
The moment Baz finished, Cedric looked at him sharply. Baz knew that he had gone too far.
Seconds later, Cedric mumbled to himself and smiled, before taking off.
Baz’s gaze followed Cedric to the second floor as he shook his head, “Love is so confusing.”
It was already midnight when Maia stirred from her slumber. She had dreamed a long dream. In her dream, she was back on her
honeymoon holiday. She had stayed awake to wait for the northern lights, alone.
Maia’s head still felt heavy as she rubbed her sleepy eyes. Just as she was about to get up, she felt a weight on her blanket.
When she turned to her side, she was shocked to see Cedric lying
next to her.
Before she could react, Cedric had already opened his eyes as he had felt her stir. As their eyes. met, Maia could feel the air
between them freeze.
Cedric broke the ice by placing his hand on her forehead. When he was sure her temperature had subsided, he asked, “Are you
hungry?”
Maia was taken aback by his question as she tried to recall what had happened last night.
She remembered leaving Homer’s place and that her car had stopped on her way home. She came out to check and Cedric had
appeared out of nowhere. She could remember him carrying her into his car. The last thing she could recall was her crying and
yelling at him.
“What’s wrong with me? Do I have a fever?” She asked as she tried to put the puzzle pieces.

“Yeah.”
Maia started to observe her surroundings with the glow from the bedside lamp.
“Are we 3 Prismara Hill?” Mala asked. She was all too familiar with the place. Cedric’s bedroom was still the same. That was why
she was able to tell where she was.
He nodded.
The alarm clock on the table showed that it was already one in the morning. Maia thanked him and proceeded to get up. As she
tried to stand, her legs gave way beneath her.
Cedric caught her before she fell and said, “You’re still weak from the fever.”
Maia instantly tried to push him away. She wanted to put distance between them.
“I am grateful that you’ve helped me, but have you forgotten our agreement?”
“Did I agree to any of it?” Cedric smiled and asked.
Maia was annoyed. They had agreed to leave each other alone. How could he pretend to forget?
He smiled softly and carried her bridal–style while asking, “Aren’t you hungry?”
“No, I’m not!” Maia’s stomach growled right after she had spoke.
“You sure?” He teased playfully.
Maia was embarrassed. She placed her hands on his chest to keep a distance, “Put me down!”
He placed her back onto the bed and tucked her in. He stopped her as she tried to get up again.
“Stay here. I’ll be right back,” he told her as he left the room in quick strides.
After Cedric left, Maia felt a sense of uneasiness wash over her. She threw the covers back and tried to stand. When she was
finally stable, she noticed that she was wearing pink pyjamas.
They were definitely hers, but who changed her? Cedric’s handsome face appeared in her head as she thought of this.
She quickly shook that thought away. Maia, get a grip! Let the past stay in the past!
