Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change?

Chapter 685

Suddenly, a heavy feeling sank into Sherilyn's heart. Her eyes froze, the light within them dimming.

If that was the case, then she knew... Gilbert wouldn't come, not for her. She might have had a chance alone, but in front of Caroline, she never stood a chance. Whenever it came down to choosing between her and Caroline, Gilbert had never chosen her... not even once!

Fear wasn't something she was unfamiliar with.

Tears welled up, her lashes quivering as she faced the person in front of her.

Trying to maintain her composure, her voice trembled, betraying her inner turmoil and fear, "What... what are you going to do to me?"

"You?"

The person lowered their gaze, shaking their head, "You're of no value to us anymore. Keeping you here serves no purpose."

What did that mean?

Sherilyn didn't quite grasp it.

Then, she saw the person approaching her, knife in hand, moving behind her.

Sherilyn felt a sudden relief as the ropes binding her hands were cut through!

Were they letting her go?

With her hands freed, Sherilyn quickly tore off the tape from her mouth and bent down to untie the ropes around her feet. The person spoke, "Ms. Gomez, the rest is up to you."

What did that mean?

Sherilyn was confused, but by the time she looked up, the person had swiftly moved to the door and left.

And with a 'bang', they shut the door behind them!

What was going on?

"Hey! Don't go!"

Sherilyn wanted to chase after them, but the ropes around her feet were too tight, and she couldn't untangle them fast enough.

By the time she freed her feet and rushed to the door,

She tried pulling the door, but it wouldn't budge.

Was it supposed to be pushed?

Sherilyn frowned, pushing hard against the door, but it remained firmly shut!

She quickly realized that the door had been locked!

Why?

Why lock her in here?

"Open the door, please! Somebody open the door!"

Sherilyn banged on the door with her hands, but no matter how much she shouted, there was no response.

"Is anybody there? Please, open the door!"

What was she going to do?

Sherilyn looked around for another way out, but the storage room had no windows, no other exits!

Suddenly, she caught a whiff of something.

"What's that smell?"

Sherilyn frowned, sniffing the air, then her heart sank, "Oh no!"

She recognized that smell all too well!

Years ago, in the slums of Crestwood, she had survived a fire!

"It's a fire!"

Sherilyn rushed to the door, pounding on it with all her might, "Somebody! Can anyone hear me? Please, open the door!"

...

In Westhaven Lionspire Ridge.

Caroline found herself in a similar predicament, tied to a chair.

The door opened, and someone entered, freeing her from her restraints.

"What are you planning to do?"

Caroline ripped off the tape from her

mouth, rubbing her wrists where

ropes had left marks, glaring at the newcomer.

"Do you have any idea who I am? The Johnson family won't let you get away with this!"

The visitor watched her quietly, "Just keep quiet. We won't harm you. Just stay put, and you'll be free to go soon."

With that, they turned and left.

Free to go soon?

Could she trust their words?

Though they hadn't revealed their intentions, she suspected they were from the Harrison family! Connected to the same people they hado encountered in Switzerland

They had captured her, but to what end?

To threaten Gilbert? No! She had to find a way out, she couldn't let herself become a burden to him!

Caroline scanned her surroundings

Qu

she was in a nondescript motel room. Standing up, she walked over to the window to take a look outside.
