Chapter 1049
Early one morning, Gilbert and Sherilyn set off together toward the main house.
Before leaving, Sherilyn made a point to instruct the maid, "If Ms. White wakes up, make sure you take good care of her. Don't neglect her, please." "Rest assured, Ms. Gomez," the maid responded with earnest.
Only then did Sherilyn feel comfortable leaving for the main house.
Since moving into Blue Haven, this was her first visit to the main house, prompted by Naylor's request, claiming he had matters to discuss with them. Crossing the garden, Sherilyn wondered aloud, "If Mr. Harrison has something to discuss, couldn't he just talk to you? Do I really need to be there?" Gilbert chuckled lightly, "Well, if he asked for you, it's probably about family matters. I'm not entirely sure myself."
Upon their arrival, they found Naylor already up, having just finished his morning yoga routine.
"Ah, you're here."
Naylor gestured for them to sit, turning his attention to Gilbert.
"I've called you here to discuss something... Your mother and I have our wedding anniversary coming up, and I plan to celebrate it in a big way."
At this, Sherilyn instinctively glanced at Gilbert.
He seemed more surprised than she did, frowning slightly, "Our wedding anniversary?" "Yes..."
Naylor sighed, "Since you've returned, you've been preoccupied with the company and haven't had a proper introduction to the family... With the board meeting approaching, it's the perfect opportunity to gather our friends and family, and officially introduce you in front of everyone."
He paused before adding, "To make it clear that you're my legitimate son, born of my marriage, not some secret love child."
Gilbert's face turned stern, and he fell silent for a moment.
It was a sensitive topic for him.
"Let's go with that then..."
Naylor then turned to Sherilyn, instructing, "You and Nine need to attend together. Make sure everything is well-prepared, and let's avoid any mishaps." "Sir..."
As they were speaking, a maid came in, "Mrs. Katy is awake." "Good."
Naylor nodded, standing up, "I'll go
up to her now. If you'd like to have here, just let the staff
know."
tono
"Mrs. Katy, please don't wander off... You haven't put on your shoes yet!"
Noise drifted down from upstairs.
Naylor hurried his pace, raising his voice, "Katy! I'm coming... Be good, don't run around..."
In the living room, Gilbert and Sherilyn exchanged looks...
Clearly, they weren't planning to stay for breakfast.
As Gilbert led Sherilyn out of the main house, he looked down at her with a smile, "Got something you want to say?" "Mmm..." Sherilyn frowned slightly, puzzled.
She was aware of his parents' history, though not in great detail.
"Mr. Harrison and your mother... they seem to be getting along well?"
"Mhm." Gilbert nodded, "Seems like it."
He had visited the main house for dinner with his mother and noticed this as well.
Frowning thoughtfully, he mused, "Isn't it strange? I was quite surprised when I first noticed... They
swnover
were practically estragove
After going through betrayal, madness...
Decades of tormenting each other...
Yet now, they seemed to be in harmony, together.
Sherilyn fell silent for a moment, then raised an eyebrow, "Actually, it's not that strange."
"Oh?" Gilbert looked puzzled, "Why not?"
"Because of you..."
Sherilyn looked up at him, reaching out to ruffle his hair, "Because they have an exceptional son like you."
"?"
Gilbert was skeptical, "Am I that important?"
Sherilyn smirked, "Mr. Harrison has
nine children, and you're the only one who's accomplished... Besides, after all these years, it's not impossible for him to forgive and accept your mother."
Indeed, a child is often the deepest bond between a couple.
