Levi opened the report, his eyes falling on my name, and his hands suddenly trembled!

In an instant, his eyes turned red, and tears welled up in his eyes.

“Test it again, there must be a mistake!” he roared, his voice filled with despair and unwillingness.

His hands trembled even more as he held the report, as if he couldn’t bear this cruel reality.,

“Mr. Miller, we’ve re–tested it. It’s really your wife.” The officer’s voice was low and firm, each word piercing Levi’s heart.

At that moment, Ella walked into the police station.

She heard the heartbreaking words, and her face instantly turned pale.

She covered her mouth and couldn’t help but cry.

“How could it be her? It must be a mistake!” Ella’s cries echoed in the station, her body seemingly losing support, about to collapse.

The officers quickly ran over to support Ella, trying to comfort her.

I floated in the air, coldly watching Ella’s performance.

Her tears and cries seemed so fake and ridiculous to me.

“Such acting skills are wasted if not used in acting,” I thought.

Ella, supported by the officers, walked up to Levi.

She tried to hug and comfort him, but Levi pushed her away.

His gaze was empty and desperate, as if his entire world had collapsed.

Levi suddenly remembered something and quickly looked for his phone.

He scrolled through the call log and saw the call I made to him.

His fingers trembled as they slid across the screen, finally stopping at that call log.

He slumped to the ground, holding his head in his hands, as if he couldn’t bear this cruel reality.

“It’s my fault, I caused her death,” his voice was full of self–blame and regret.

Yes, I originally had a chance to survive.

If he had come to find me then, perhaps everything would have been different.

But he personally pushed me into the abyss.

I recalled the third day of my kidnapping when the kidnapper suddenly said he wanted to play a game with me.

“Right now, your husband is with another woman. If you call him and he comes right away, I’ll let you go.”

At that moment, I thought I saw hope.

The call connected, and just as I was about to speak, Levi said directly, “If you want to come back, come back yourself. Don’t expect me to pick you up.”

After he said that, he hung up the phone.

At that moment, I seemed to hear the sound of my heart breaking.

I knew I had been sentenced to death, and it was he who pronounced it.

In this dead silent room, time seemed to stand still.

Levi’s phone ringing broke the silence, but he acted as if he didn’t hear it, with no reaction at all.

Ella watched his distraught appearance, feeling a pang of pity. She reached out, picked up the phone, and gently pressed the speaker button.

“Hello, is this Mr. Miller? This is the Sweetie Restaurant. Ms. Bennett ordered a couple’s set meal today! We haven’t been able to reach her. Are you still coming?” the voice of the restaurant staff came through the phone.

Ella glanced at Levi, wanting to refuse, but Levi suddenly spoke.

“I’ll be right there,” his voice was low and firm.

Ella felt a surge of unease, “Levi, how about I go with you!”

Levi shook his head, “You don’t go. Isla definitely doesn’t want to see you.”

His words stabbed into Ella’s heart, making her face turn pale instantly.

Indeed, Levi was right. I really didn’t want to see Ella.

Levi came to the restaurant alone and sat in the seat I had reserved.

The waiter brought dish after dish, all of his favorites.

He didn’t move, just quietly looked at the table full of dishes.

After serving all the dishes, the waiter brought out a delicate cake.

On the cake were just four words. “Happy Anniversary!”

It turned out today was our wedding anniversary, a day he had originally forgotten.

Levi sat alone in the restaurant until closing time.

He numbly left the restaurant and returned home.

He didn’t turn on the lights, sitting alone in the living room until dawn.

The next day, there was a sudden knock on the door.

Levi opened the door and saw the package I had sent.

He picked up the package in confusion and returned to the room.

He opened the package, and inside was a USB drive and a document.

He inserted the USB drive into the computer and opened the video file.

My smiling face appeared on the screen, though I looked a bit pale.

“Levi, I lied to you. I don’t have cancer. I was just jealous, jealous that Ella had cancer, and you took such good care of her. I’m leaving, don’t look for me. I’ve signed the divorce papers. You can be with Ella,” my voice said in the video,

calm and firm.

Levi’s hands trembled as he took out the document from the package, looking at my signature.

His eyes instantly turned red, and tears started to fall.

He cried out in pain, his heart flooded with remorse and self–blame.

He regretted not discovering my lies earlier, regretted not being by my side when I needed him the most.

He blamed himself for neglecting me for Ella, making me endure so much pain and loneliness.
