When Love Breaks (Josephine)

Chapter 98

The next instant, a bloodcurdling scream echoed through the villa

"You're downright merciless, Josephine Dunn!" Zayn couldn't believe she had actually poked his wound with her finger.

Noticing the color drain from his face and beads of cold sweat forming on his brow, she couldn't help but feel a little smug. But guilt crept in too. "I warned you. (But you didn't listen."

Zayn was both furious and in pain. If it had been anyone else, he would've kicked them out by now. But when he noticed the smile on her face and her icy expression finally softening to something closer to her old, sweet self, he thought the pain was worth it. Josephine, I

Right then, there was a knock on the door.

He instinctively frowned and was about to say something when the bedroom door swung open, and Nadine walked in with a plastic bag. "Zayn, I got the medicine you asked for. Oh-Mrs. Forbes, you're here as well"

Josephine immediately stiffened. She tumed to look at Nadine, disbelief etched across her face. Even though she was aware of their affair and had moved out, she was still Zayn's wife in name, it not in heart. How could he let his mistress stroll into their home, let alone into their bedroom?

"What are you doing here?" Zayn bellowed from beside her.

Nadine smiled sweetly. "I heard you were in a car accident, so I came to check on you. Am I interrupting your time together? In that case, I'll wait downstairs in the garden"

Before she could leave, Josephine stopped her. "It's alright, you can stay. I'm leaving.

Nadine blinked, feigning surprise. "What did you just say? This is your and Zayn's home, Mrs. Forbes. How could I stay here?"

"Cut the act, Nadine," she said icily. "I've already shown Zayn all the messages you sent me.

Josephine had expected Nadine to freeze or falter, but her eyes widened in surprise instead. "Messages? What messages? Mrs. Forbes, I don't even have your number. How could I send you anything?"

Now it was Josephine's tum to be stunned. She

e stared at Nadine, disbelief morphing into a bitter laugh. Even now, she was still pretending to be innocent.

"Fine. Keep pretending; put on a good show for Zayn." Josephine shook her head and headed toward the door.

Nadine's innocent voice followed behind her. "Where are you going, Mrs. Forbes? Lonly came to drop off medicine for Zayn. Please don't get the wrong idea!" Her voice only made Josephine stomach churn. The latter quickened her pace, leaving the bedroom, and even had the courtesy to shut the door behind her. Then, she hurried downstairs.

By the time she reached the bottom of the stairs, realization dawned on her. The car accident was real; Zayn didn't pretend to be a victim to get her attention. That call from Shawn, on the other hand, wasn't Zayn's doing-it was Nadine's.

Nadine had orchestrated this entire charade, inserting herself into their villa and their bedroom, all to flaunt her presence. She'd even roped Shawn into the act. Once again, she had been made a fool by Nadine and Shawn

Zom hobbled down the stairs, his voice tinged with rare desperation. "Josephine, I swear to God, there's absolutely nothing going on between me and Nadine! I'm lying, may I be cursed, huve no children, and never get anything I want for the rest of my life!" Josephine acted as if she didn't hear him. She had heard his oaths before-enough to fill a book. Yet, not a single one had ever been kept in the past three years.
