Chapter 0317
“Alright, you seem to be busier than the dean these days…” Silas remarked.
Paul said, “I’ll be off then.”
“Oh wait, I forgot to ask. What did you come back to get?” Silas called after him.
“You ask too many questions.”
Silas was at a loss for words.

Miranda dozed off again after Paul left. She had no choice. She would be too tired to work efficiently in the afternoon if she didn’t take a nap.
Miranda got up at 2.00 pm, washed her face, and returned to the lab. Sandy and the others also returned from their lunch break and resumed working at their positions.
“Mimi, why are your cheeks so red? Did you get overheated?”
Huh?
Miranda touched her cheeks. “Are they red? It could be…”
Silas spoke up, “Didn’t you turn on the air conditioning in the inner room? How did you still get overheated?”
Miranda replied, “I think I forgot to turn it on today…”
“I see, it seems you’re like Paul. Both of you can’t handle the heat. I ran into him outside the break room earlier. He was just as flushed.”
Sandy couldn’t help but laugh: “Are you exaggerating? Flushed from the heat? Mimi, your face looks even redder now. Bry, lower the temperature of the air conditioning.”
Miranda was speechless. Was she really that flushed? It couldn’t be!
Another busy day came to an end. Miranda didn’t need to work late and left the lab on time.
On her way home, she stopped by the grocery store. At this time, the market was out of fresh vegetables.
After selecting her ingredients, she went home and spent half an hour preparing a simple meal of two dishes and a soup.
Miranda set up her phone to video call Lionel while she ate her dinner. “Dad, why are you still fiddling with your plants so late at night? Doesn’t Mom nag at you?”
“Her? She’s busy typing away on her keyboard. She doesn’t have time to bother with me,”
Miranda raised an eyebrow. “She’s feeling inspired lately, huh?”
“She’ll be in a good mood as long as she isn’t arguing with her editor. When she’s in a good mood, the inspiration flows.”

Lionel paused for a moment before continuing, “Speaking of her editor, what was her name, Edith? I haven’t seen her call your mom lately. You told me to keep an eye on her, remember?
“Back then, they would have an argument two to three times a week. I was wondering why she seemed so quiet now. Guess what happened?”
Miranda played along and asked curiously, “What happened?”
“I checked your mother’s phone the other day. Guess what? I found that she blocked her editor’s contact on all platforms! Isn’t that hilarious?”
On top of that, they had moved to a new place. Edith had no way to contact Mindy even if she tried.
Miranda couldn’t help but burst into laughter. “That’s totally something Mom would do.”
Lionel had doted on her for years, and Mindy worked as a full–time writer, so she didn’t need to engage with society much. Despite Mindy being nearly 50, she maintained a refreshing sense of innocence and naivety that most people her age didn’t.
Like that time when she was harshly criticized by her readers back then, she announced her retirement from the internet in a fit of rage. Her antics were just like a child throwing a tantrum.
Miranda suddenly grew serious. “Dad, keep an eye on Mom for the time being. Try to minimize her contact with Edith.”
The new editor that Zach introduced to her had reached out. After reading Mindy’s work, they immediately got in touch with Miranda.
It was around 3:00 am, and Miranda had been fast asleep. She only picked up groggily after the other party had called twice in a row.
The editor was called Warren Stone. After the call, Miranda did some research about him on the internet.
He was considered a legendary editor in the publishing industry. Almost every mystery novel he touched became a hit, selling out its film copyrights and being adapted into blockbuster dramas or movies.
Warren didn’t sign authors; he only cared about the quality of the work.
After hearing a brief explanation regarding Mindy’s situation from Miranda, he had said just one thing…
