When fate plays its hand

Chapter 108

Chapter 0108

Miranda looked around her. The silence in the dark room was deafening.

Thank god it was just a dream…

However, she couldn’t stop gasping for air. It was like she had just been rescued from the ocean and desperately needed fresh air

The wind chimes at the entrance let out a clear clink as the night breeze blew. Miranda looked out. She could hear the sound of the waves clearly in the quiet night.

She still had palpitations because of the nightmare and couldn’t sleep even after she lay down in bed once more. So, she promptly put on a coat and went outside for a stroll.

In the middle of the night, the gentle sea breeze felt harsh due to the low temperature.

Miranda pulled her coat tighter around her and shuffled along the beach.

The sky was starless that night. The infinite darkness was lit up only by a sprinkle of lamps by the seaside.

As she recalled the incident this afternoon, she felt something was off. She had a gut feeling that they had overlooked some details.

Everything that happened seemed coincidental, but the fact that it had all happened simultaneously was peculiar.

Tim insisted he was late to the rescue because he was in the restroom.

However, he was too confident to the extent that it seemed deliberate.

Miranda looked up and stopped in her tracks.

By the shore, Sam was talking on the phone with his back to her.

Mr. Chaffey, given my friend’s situation, how should we go about trie?

“…Opt for mediation? Impossible, Filing an internetiond lawer might be troublesome, but I don’t mind. Let’s proceed with it.”

Sam knew why the hotel staff behaved so arroga: My

This international seven–star hotel was located on the island with the most strategic location in Marvedis. Even royalty would stay in this hotel when they came for vacation. The hotel staff did indeed have all the right to be pompous.

However, they had chosen to discriminate against the wrong person.

After ending the call, Sam was about to return to his room. When he turned, he found himself looking into Miranda’s profound eyes.

Stunned, he smiled. “You’re still awake?”

“Yeah. I can’t sleep, so I decided to take a stroll.”

The moist sea breeze felt cool as it blew on her face. She asked, “That call… Was it because of me?”

Sam paused before nodding. “This incident happened overseas, so the procedures for taking legal actions will be different. I’ve never handled anything like this. So, to be safe, I decided to consult a lawyer.”

Miranda’s lips were pressed into a tight line. She pointed to a beach hut behind her, which was a convenience store that operated 24-7. “Would you like something to drink? My treat.”

Sam thought she would avoid him like she did that afternoon and just leave. He didn’t expect this turn of events. Surprise crossed his eyes, but only briefly. Then, he smiled graciously and nodded. “Sure.”

Why would he reject her invitation?

He chose a boille of load bear while Miranda asked for a glass of 68conut water. Then, they sat on the beach chairs.

“Thank you,” Miranda said.

Sam rubbed his finger against the bottle, “I’m glad aren’t mad that I’ve made decisions for you.”

He’d decided to get the company’s legal department to file an

international lawsuit. As the involved party, Miranda had the right to know about it

“Do I look like the ungrateful sort to you?” Miranda chuckled. “Besides, what happened today may not have been the first time.”

Sam arched an eyebrow while waiting for her to continue.

She continued, “They were behaving oddly and weren’t shocked at all. The first thing they did wasn’t to comfort the client but to excuse themselves from responsibility. In fact, they seemed familiar doing it.”

Sam silently listened as she spoke. Then, he pulled out a name card. ” Someone may follow up with you after this. If there’s any problem, you can call this number.”
