Chapter 25
"Did you decide to divorce me because you saw the photo album?"
Anthony asked about the question he just could not figure out the answer to first.
Giselle answered honestly and unhesitantly, "Yes, and no. I had the thought for a long time. The photo album was just a trigger.
"Even if I didn't find the photo album, I would still bring up divorce when my patience ran out someday."
The conviction in her voice made Anthony feel extremely regretful.
"I didn't do well enough. Why didn't you tell me about the dissatisfaction you had with my actions and behavior?"
Giselle gave him a sidelong glance and said indifferently, "You didn't tell me that you liked Melanie either. I just did what you did and chose to remain silent."
Anthony quickly explained to Giselle since she seemed to still have that misunderstanding.
"I did like her before, but that was a long time ago. After we got married, I tried to move on from those feelings since I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you..."
Giselle cut him off since she had no interest in hearing these words that meant nothing to her now.
"I don't care when you've moved on from her or if you have any sincere feelings for me because that's all in the past now. I don't want to waste my energy on pointless things anymore. Do you understand what I mean?"
As he noticed the determined look in Giselle's eyes, Anthony swallowed the words he had prepared for a long time to tell her.
He clutched his hands together tightly. The joints on his fingers turned white since he put a lot of force in his hands. There was a look of sorrow and helplessness in his eyes.
Giselle couldn't care less about how Anthony was feeling.
She was just glad that it was finally peaceful around her. She took her headphones and eye mask out as she got ready to rest.
The plane flew above the clouds across Jadeston's sky.
Things had quietened down in the cabin. Anthony turned his head slightly and gazed at Giselle's serene sleeping face which was just inches away from him.
The emotions surging in him slowly calmed down.
Anthony had no choice but to stop bringing up the past since Giselle did not like it.
Yet, that did not mean Anthony was giving up now.
Two hours later, the plane landed at Ivesstrom Airport.
Giselle pushed her luggage and was about to get in a car when she saw Anthony standing behind her through a mirror's reflection. She shot him a glare. "We've talked about pretty much everything. Are you still going to follow me?"
"We didn't really talk about everything. At most, we only agreed to forget about what happened after we got married.
"However, there are also the seven years prior to our marriage and the time we have moving forward that we can talk about. Isn't that right?"
"I was secretly in love with you during those seven years. Anyway, we'll live our lives separately after the divorce. Isn't that all? What's there to talk about?" Anthony gazed at Giselle quietly.
Many things had happened between
them. Yet, when Anthony looked at
her now, the first thing that came to his mind was the memories of Giselle confessing to him forthe first time.
Back then, Anthony politely rejected her. He thought that would mark the end of their story.
Who knew their story would go on for more than ten years and still not come to a conclusion?
However, this time, it was Anthony's turn to go after Giselle.
"I can't change what's happened in the past, but there's no saying what will happen in the future. Giselle, you shouldn't jump to conclusions so quickly."
Hearing the phrase after a good ten years made Giselle freeze to the spot.
She raised her head and gazed at Anthony, who stood before her with his hands on his back. Some of her old memories resurfaced.
It was nighttime. The warm, yellow street lights illuminated a square inside Sapphire High and the passers-by.
Giselle stopped Anthony outside the
library. The young lady blushed
crimson as she mustered her
courage and made a confession to
him. It did not come as a surprise when she received a polite "thank you in return.
She was filled with a deep sense of frustration and disappointment at that moment. Giselle ruffled her hair in vexation.
The sound of someone chuckling softly came from above her just then. Giselle lifted her gaze and spotted the faint smile on Anthony's lips.
Back then, Giselle was headstrong,
passionate, and extremely
motivated. She thought Anthony
was laughing at her, so Giselle said
her next few words in a serious tone.
"You don't have any special feelings for me now, but there's no saying what will happen in the future. Anthony, you shouldn't jump to conclusions so quickly."
None of them would have expected to hear those phrases again after so many years.
The only thing different was that their roles had switched.
