Chapter 2015 Estrangement
“No, no, no.” Kaylee quickly waved her hands. “Madam Smith also has my best interests at heart. She u- understands my
intention, so how can this be considered as forcing?”
Bella didn’t want to continue arguing with her. Anyway, she didn’t believe the nonsense Kaylee was spouting. The atmosphere
became a bit awkward for a moment.
After a moment of contemplation, Elisa asked, “Where is Grandma? I want to go see her.”
Kaylee fathomed Elisa’s intention. She knew that although Elisa said she just wanted to see Julia, in reality, she wanted to seek
confirmation about that matter.
Nevertheless, she didn’t care because confirming that matter or not wouldn’t make any difference.
Moreover, it was not even certain that Elisa would be able to see Julia..
Kaylee said. “She’s in the garden, but I doubt you’ll be able to see Madam Smith right now.”
Elisa looked at her with a puzzled expression.
Kaylee said, “It’s better if we don’t disturb Madam Smith because she’s taking her afternoon nap right now
She spoke as if she was the lady of the house, gently turning away a guest.
Bella was a bit dissatisfied, but she didn’t say anything.
Elisa didn’t make a fuss. She simply said, “It’s okay. I’ll just take a quick look. If Grandma is resting. I won’t disturb her.”
Upon hearing that, Kaylee could no longer object.
“E-Elisa, I’ll go with you.” Bellan spoke up at that moment and then entered the room.
She really didn’t want to be with Kaylee. Watching the latter deliberately being seductive was truly nauseating.
The other reason she tagged along was that she wanted to ask her grandmother in person what exactly was going on. Is there
some sort of scheme? Why is it that none of us know about Grandma’s plans? She suddenly took in Kaylee just like that.
Elisa and Bella entered the house, making their way unobstructed to the back garden.
Just as Kaylee had said, Grandma indeed fell asleep while basking in the sun.
Instead of leaving directly, Elisa went over and moved a sun umbrella.
After all, it wasn’t something good for Julia to be exposed to direct sunlight.
Julia was roused awake, perhaps due to the commotion. She opened her eyes in a daze. When she saw Elisa, she reacted as if
she were looking at a stranger.
She merely lifted her eyelids to take a quick glance, then closed her eyes and continued to sleep.
Bella saw Julia open her eyes and joyfully exclaimed, “Grandma, you’re awake!”
Julia probably didn’t want to be bothered, but after being shouted at by Bella, she didn’t feel it appropriate to pretend to be
asleep. So, she simply woke up.
Elisa was also somewhat surprised as she looked at Julia. She had just squatted down, wanting to have a heart-to-heart talk with
Julia, but to her surprise, Julia had chosen to sit a bit further away.
The way she looked at Elisa was as if she was staring at some highly dangerous fugitive.
“Grandma...” Elisa was a bit taken aback, calling out to Julia.
However, Julia didn’t react much, appearing somewhat in a daze.
Elisa wanted to get closer, but Julia simply sat up and moved a bit further away from Elisa, gazing at Elisa with a cautious and
defensive look.
Elisa was somewhat puzzled. She glanced at Bella, who also shook her head in bafflement.
Bella also didn’t know what was going on.
Elisa softened her voice. “Grandma, it’s me, Elisa. I’m here to take you to the hot springs. We agreed on this over the phone,
don’t you remember?”
Watching Elisa speak in a tone like coaxing a child, Bella bit her lip, somewhat at a loss for words.
Upon hearing Elisa’s name, Julia’s scattered gaze gradually began to focus, and she soon regained her composure.
